Dwight Bailey, president of NEON Records of Kentucky, interviews Dr. Ralph Stanley in this piece that includes a performance with NEON's most successful artist, Dwight Whitley, from the Paramount Arts Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Ralph discusses the musicians and vocalists who played with him as members of his Clinch Mountain Boys, including Dwight's baby brother Keith. This performance was shot around the time Dwight's 1996 album "Brotherly Love" was released.

I was there as security for Dwight that night... I rode my motorcycle to that performance that night at the Paramount along with my friend Andy Dalton... Ashland forever... I came from London Ohio 130 miles away ... Where my Family ended up over the years...

Thanks so much, Dennis. It makes me long to hear new material from Dwight. I called him a couple nights ago, but he was in bed. He was pulling out at 2 am for Charleston, and Flo was packing him a cooler full of food to take with him, so I talked to her. I sure wish he'd get rid of that truck and start singing again.

In 1978, at Horse Pens 40 in Alabama I saw Dr. Ralph for my first time. He did "Will You Miss Me" and took a break. I went over to the table to meet him and just busted out crying.I told him "I just thought I'd heard Bluegrass until today." Pure Magic!

Love this, Dwight Whitley awesome singer. I still miss Keith more than I can say, he would have stayed at the top and showed today's musicians how to sing a real country song. He is a real legend and left us way to soon. Bluegrass or country he could not be beat, Dwight sounds so much like him and the harmonies in this song need no words!!

I just saw him on Labor Day weekend (see my video for the 2008 Keith Whitley Fan Gathering in Sandy Hook). He spent more time with us than I thought he would. I was really glad to see him again. He's keeping busy. He works really strange hours. But every once in a while, he gets depressed and really misses John and Randy and Keith, as you can imagine.

Thanks, Jim. Isn't this great? She gave me this video on Labor Day when I visited her, along with a bunch of other stuff. She feeds my habit, and Flo and Dwight feeds hers. I guess Mike's waiting to be fed now. (LOL) I'm glad it brought back happy memories for you.

No, there are no plans to release any of the concerts that were mentioned. Dwight has released 2 country CD's, one in 1995 and the last one in 2000.

Wow, that's cool, Jeff! I don't know of anyone who has a copy, either on video or audio. What I have from 1978 is their live shows on audio from Stuart, VA and from the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA (THAT is a great show!) I'll put some feelers out there and see. How did you find yours?

I feel like I am breakin in on a private conversation here, as y'all know one another quite well which is clear, but I must ask - is any of what y'all are speaking of going to be released on CD or DVD an if so where I could get a copy. By the way, Dwight is a fantastic singer -is his CD bluegrass?
