Ram 1500 180ﾟ thermostat coolant and oil temperatures cruising down the highway.

I was told leave it how it is. I run a thermostat 195F with active shutters on 228-230F hauling/ 217-225 non- hauling. From 32k miles to 120k miles. I change oil every 3k. I've send oil analysis and comes back with no wear metals 😳. I was told the oil still runs clean can give more time. Also, changed the oil filter/cooler housing assembly to aluminum. It had leakage at the water pump and thermostat housing was internally broken just a defective. I have bleed and burping coolant, air free of bubbles. Plus new radiator just for the sake due to thermostat pieces. Still runs same temperature. Now just valve cover small leak. Will change it soon bought the gaskets. Did change spark plugs except coils "expensive 😂". Ill buy one by one each pay check. I personally change the transmission oil at 70k miles. The next trans oil change is coming soon, definitely will send for analysis. Also, I have change brakes pads and rotors turned, they wear even. For 2018 ram 1500 v6 for 24k in 2021. All this maintenance i am planning to keep it. Now days trucks are expensive 🫰. This same truck is now in sale for 27-30k plus used on 60k miles -120k miles. Forgot to mention please at all cost dont mix coolants Mopar with universal coolant brand. It creates a gel that will create restrictive passageways. Just remained with Mopar coolant and Mopar Transmission oil.

switching to that 180 degree thermostat is a must. I also did that on my Challenger

180 t stat change in my 2015 6.7 and it stays about 188-192 in hot southern humidity. Oil has hit 204 is the highest I’ve seen and trans fluid stays about 149-150 since I removed the thermostat block in the lines. It’ll get to 168 occasionally wen I’m towing a car on moderate hilly roads running 70-80 so I think all is well

Some cruising action with professor B!💪🏽 Great to see that changes you have made to the truck! I just did a pull against a civic and that sucker left me in the dust😂 The damn car weighed 2,400 pounds and I think he had a turbo installed. I still love my 5.7, even though I get smoked sometimes😂

Right before the end of the video I was going to ask how you disabled them. I just removed all the slats and fooled the actuator with a bolt and nut. I did the 180 stat as well and it right at the same happy place. My trans though is 130ish but only because I did the thermostat and warmer bypass.

Would this make oil change interval frequency increase since the oil temps are less often reaching 215 to evaporate water?

Not at all, the water will still evaporate just fine at 200ﾟ, the temperature you are referencing is 212ﾟ, or the boiling point of water.

Did you notice any decease in fuel efficiency? That is the whole point of them running higher engine temps and the grill shutters. I wonder if it makes much difference and if so how much.

No, not really any difference in fuel economy that I can tell

Man I had a 19 Dt 1500 laramie 5.7L and had to do a waterpump at 92k miles I'm at 109k I put a 180 Stat and that it otherwise stock with a stock mopar performance exhaust.. used to consistently get 21mpg running 75-80 now it's terrible, babying it no more then 70mph and I'm lucky to see 15-16 at best.. doesn't feel like it's running bad or down on power I done all the reg 100k miles maintenance/fluids plugs runs great but grill shutter malfunction cel has been on for 2 years now. Lol o well truck runs 185 all the time now as long as ac is up 5 or higher. Weird on the milage I'm trying everything.

the temperature for my 2021 bighorn is about 215F for the coolant and 228F for the oil, transmission about 195F,,,, is that normal, or the truck has some issues?

I have a 2014 ram 3.6 too and it has the same temperature. It’s that normal or did you make something to fixed?
