RAM 2500 Power Wagon | First time OFF-ROAD In Snow

2 жыл бұрынI take my 2022 RAM 2500 Power Wagon Off road for the first time in the snow and test out the 4wd system for the first time! What an amazing truck, it makes everything so easy and I'm going to really have to work hard to push this RAM Power Wagon to it's 4x4 limits. I was in 4wd high the whole time and didn't even come close to locking in the differentials

Obviously this was not the most difficult off road situation but I wanted to just get my bearings with this truck and work the truck in slowly. I don't even have 500 miles on the truck yet so the engine still needs to be fully broke in before I can really let loose!
We did end up getting a decent amount of snow to play around in and the wind was whipping pretty good there in the end. But hopefully we get more heavy snow this winter so I can stuff this truck down a non-maintained winter road and truly push it to its limits with everything locked up and maybe even have to bring the winch out!
Hopefully you guys enjoyed this first little real world 4wd action with this Power Wagon and I can't wait to get into some really cool adventures with this beautiful truck!

I’m glad that someone is doing real in-depth reviews of the Power Wagon. I tell people that all I have to do is point it in a direction and drive and most don’t believe me. I just towed 10,000 lbs of hay up a road in 4” of snow that’s so steep that many trucks can’t drive up at all. This is a fun truck, but the work it can do is unbelievable. Keep the video’s coming!

Thank you sir! very surprising how little wheels slip there was. the truck just feels so planted and in control. I can only imagine with the diff locked how good this truck will be! But I have a good test in mind hopefully before the new year! Happy holidays!

Love the truck man ! I highly reccomend looking for the trick to disengage the seatbelt chime. Those things drive me bonkers ! First thing I did when I drove my 2019 Ram 1500 off the lot was disengage the seatbelt chime. I youtubed it and it was simple and worked first try. Maybe part of a video idea for you is to show how it is done. I'm not against seatbelts whatsoever but when I'm on those bumpy mellow back roads, nothing worse then your seatbelt locking up so I always take mine off when I hit those types of roads. I can then drive slowly and leisurely with the belt off and dont have to listen to the chime going off. All that is left is the dash cluster seatbelt icon on a solid red.

Ya when i was editing this video all i could hear is that stupid seat belt chim. Obviously I was in and out of the truck but just didnt realize until after how annoying it is. And ya seriously a great video idea! Thank you for the tips!

I have buried mine up to the center of the grill in snow. Always remember to bring extra shovels for your friends. They go through way more snow in 4 high than 4 low locked. 4 low is power limited and it won’t let you hammer on it in deep snow.

ya that's what I figured but I'll still try 4 low locked up for the fun of it lol but 4 high with that LSD in the back probably does very well in the snow!

4 low give you more power because it gears down transmission. Mine does better in deep snow in 4 low. When I’m moving and need momentum 4 high works better to give me wheel speed but 4 low is better to get me unstuck. Wish I had a bottomless bank account. So many trucks I’d like to own and try. Power Wagon being one of them. We’ve had 38” of snow in the last week. We did have some warm weather which melted some of the 1st 30” but was out yesterday with the new 8” we had. Now I’m thinking today we got another couple for week and a half total of 40”. Just guessing but by next weekend it’ll probably be mostly gone and muddy. I have 2000 K2500 GMC crew cab with big old 454 big block which does great in deep snow.

There is a tune and some other ways around that. Toyota has the same thing where when you put the vehicle in 4-low not only do you have limited power but if you go over I think 7 or 12 miles hour the rear locking differential unlocks.......... But like I said there are ways around that.

Once you lock into 4wd the truck is so planted. feels way different then my old 1500. really loving it!

I would do the same as you getting the feel of the truck features. Not doing something stupid. I suggest changing to at least 35's.Gives the truck a more aggressive appearance!

So this is going to be both a question and advice. Having a new truck, do you have any thoughts on ceramic coating it or wrapping it? I *strongly* suggest ppf wrapping for the front bumper (i assume it's steel and painted). I got so many stone chips on my 2012 it always looked like insects on the front bumper but it was just stone chips all over it. I finally got fed up, removed the bumper, had it repainted then ppf wrapped. Do this from the start when the truck is new. Small price to pay for peace of mind imo. Other than that, I hope you have a great Christmas and new years with this incredible buy.

Ya i'm looking into going somethibg like that. The panted bumpers always rust from stone chips lol. As for wrapping the whole truck i'm not sure obviously i'd love too but that isnt cheap lol

@@TheGettyAdventures for the whole truck I recommend a ceramic coating. Makes maintaining it so much easier. Dirt doesn't stick to it and the only thing you have to do is wash, no wax. I got 5 layers of ceramic pro when I bought the truck 6 years ago but I'm probably switching to angel wax ceramic coating in the spring. To clarify, I got the ceramic coating that is applied by a professional, not that you apply yourself.

@@TheGettyAdventures you can buff out trail marks. Take mine to a pro. 3M buffing compound. I have driven over small trees. If you dont sweat the paint the truck makes its own trail. All steel under. Respray the bumber from a rattle can. Spray the frame and bits. Rustoleum.

@@TheGettyAdventures 5 layers of ceramic pro back in 2015 cost me 1125 CAD (8000 SEK) at today's conversion rate and I was without my truck for I think 5 days while the coating was curing. But it's been well worth it in my opinion. But ceramic coatings have since improved, that's why I'll probably be switching come spring.

Love the truck and love the video,you said it has a rear lsd in the rear so is the front lsd as well? What options does it have when it comes to drivetrain?

the front diff is an open diff normally and has the option to be locked. when it comes to power train options with the Power Wagon there is not much choice in fact I don't think there is any choice lol. 2021+ all come with a 6.4 hemi with an 8 speed trans. bw44-47 transfer case and 4.10 gears.

Love the video! I have a 2017 RAM 2500 6.4L Laramie with the off road package. Similar to the power wagon without the disconnecting front sway bar, locking front diff, winch etc. live in Southern Ontario and not any places to take it off road. What part of Canada are you from?

There is a local Jeep Club in the Niagara Region. Contact them. Every time I see them parked outside a Tims on the weekend they are covered head to toe in mud. Also one of the guys on the popular TFLT youtube channel is from Ontario and a Ram fanboy. He knows where to find mud in Southern Ontario

Wellington county in Ontario is where I'm located. Fergus/Elora area. I know there are a new spots in Huron county that have wicked mud roads but nothing really local at all.

Krown Rust Spray. It's a Canadian company but they offer a lifetime rust warranty on new vehicles and they stand behind their product. that and washing the truck frequently in the winter, as well as rolling under the truck every now and again and spraying rockers and cab corners by hand with rust protection oils.

74 litres :) Takes about $150 Cdn to fill that 31 gallon tank with 89 octane these days. Oil prices dropped in half over the last month and we are still being raped at the pump up here

RAM 2500 isn't great in 2WD. The back end is too light for all of that engine. But once you lock in the front wheels, it's like a tank.

Don't winch with the truck in park. Chalk the tires set parking brake. Don't let the winch load to one side of the drum. Don't back your truck up with a winch line pull. Dont use the lockers on tight turns. No doughnuts when locked. No lockers on dry anything. I even take mine in and out of 4 hi when turning. Reduce binding. Awesome truck. True American Icon. The truck of trucks. 27,000 miles now. Lots of rescues in Oceano Dunes cali.
