If you alter the computer settings you can increase throttle response. Because Volkswagen from stock is set for economical mode. You can increase throttle response, and transmission shift points

Good point! I messed around a little bit with some settings on OBDEleven, but didn't notice much difference. I'll have to revisit it, thank you.

@@BestHombre Just be careful, you can really mess things up if you change things too much, but luckily with that device you can reset to the OEM settings But it sounds to me like you want to adjust the throttle response setting it may be in advanced settings on that device

Besides the decibel readings, it would have been interesting to see the IATs before and after (assuming you could test on a similar weather day).

I can probably do this actually. If I find the time one day, I can easily fit the stock air box. I’ll record a full pulls and cruising at Highway speed. Any other situations you would want to see? I’m at pretty much sea level too.

Just installed mine following your video. Excellent instructions. Atlas sounds more throaty for sure. Have you noticed some slightly better throttle response? Idk if it’s just me but it seems to be a little more responsive. Also when you install the res delete please post a video! Hopefully it also helps mpg so I can convince my fiancé to allow me to do it haha

This is awesome! I’m so glad it worked out! I definitely felt the car rev more quickly through the gears, looks like it was definitely a little choked before. I actually just installed the resonator delete, working on getting all the shots done and edited now. The sound is…. 😉

Thank you! Yes, exhaust is next on the docket! Definitely a resonator delete (wookie pipe), but I’m also on the hunt for a compatible Magnaflow muffler to do them both at the same time. Coming soon!

I definitely felt some butt dyno improvement. It revs a bit more freely at higher RPM and feels a bit happier when I push it from about 3k towards redline. I will say though, that I could feel a bit of a dip in low end power, but that's to be expected as the ecu isn't tuned to adapt for the intakte. Stock is restrictive at the top end, but since it's a semi-sealed system so the engine doesn't need to work so hard to breath at lower rpm. Open air filter's rely heavily on the engine's pull to draw air through the filter, resulting in what I feel to be a slight loss of torque at lower RPM. Also, my MPG has never been better. Previously (with brand new air filter) I was getting 18 avg and 23-24 highway in sport mode, now I average 20-21 and can get up to almost 26 on the highway. I'm running stock tires (continental) Next I'm installing the ECS tuning resonator delete. People say that with the reduced weight and extra flow it should also increase MPG.

I've used drop in filters before and they work great, but just aren't loud enough for me. I love hearing those wookie sounds!

Let me know if you see an increase in MPG, mine went up almost 2mpg on average (not scientific of course) Haven't done the resonator delete yet, I don't like how raspy it sounds by itself, so I'm on the hunt for a compatible magnaflow muffler to do them both at the same time.

Your subject says this is a Ram intake but the link is to the VW Atlas one? Which is in the video?

Hey Sean, sorry for the confusion. Ram Air Intake is a type of air intake. It indicates a short tube with a cone style filter. For example, a Cold Air Intake usually brings cool air by having either a large tube that brings the filter outside of the engine bay or by additional ducting. A Sealed intake is very similar to the stock intake and shouldn’t be absorbing air from just anywhere other than a predetermined air intake. There aftermarket brands that make sealed intakes because, while quieter, they have great performance.

@@MTB_Adventures Yes, that’s correct, the link is the one I installed. I believe loudest will always be Ram Air, but the cold air ones have more of a swooshing induction noise from the larger pipe and sealed is the quietest.

It does, but for the better! Once I did the resonator delete though, MPG got worse, simply because I floor it at every chance I get to make Farting exhaust sounds lol
