This was my first time seeing any of your videos, and I found this video in particular very useful! Tysvm! It's been a very long time since I've even considered anything on the topic of upgrading my computers since my computers are very old and outdated. In fact I only very recently learned how to do the old school lan gaming/networking without any internet. In fact that's what led me to your channel. We've been experiencing a gaming issue. Three computers are network together to play the game icewind Dale 2. One computer crashes every time it opens inventory in game. I wasn't sure if this was a graphics issue or memory issue or some other issue but none of the other computers have this issue. So I decided to start somewhere other than some of the workarounds we've already tried like adjusting the video settings in game, playing in a smaller screen, etc. In checking the memory, it really shouldn't have any trouble. Hmm

In the past, I found various speeds of RAM just caused the overall RAM to run at the slowest speed sticks. However, when I tried to upgrade my 2 x 8GB sticks of Ripjaws RAM with another 2 x 8GB sticks of Ripjaws RAM sticks that are a slightly faster speed (other than that, all the specs are the same), I found they don't play nicely together. Rather than all the RAM just running at the slower speed of the older RAM, the all the RAM slowed to a snail's pace. It took about four times as long for my computer to boot and everything ran at about 1/4 of the normal speed, including loading web pages. I removed the new RAM and the computer still runs like normal. I still have to try the new RAM on it's own, to see if maybe that's the issue. I'll also try both pairs of RAM, on their own, in the other pairs of RAM slots on the mother board. If the faster RAM works, then I'll have to fork out a small fortune to buy yet another pair of the same faster RAM.

So i have an corsair dominator platinum 3200 mhz cl14, 16gb Ram. (2x 8GB) I want to upgrade and buy the same sticks again but its not possible to do buy them because they are out of stock....... The only once i can buy is corsair dominator platinum 3200 mhz cl16 so this 1 run lil bit slower will this be an issue ? Can it work together?

I encounter a lot of processor that says ddr4 2400 mhz is that the maximum speed of the ram that you can pair with the processor even though the motherboard is capable of 3200mhz.. And also it has 2 channels does that means you can only used two slots of ram of motherboard??

3:50 why will dual channel ram improve a system using integrated graphics more than a system using dedicated graphics? Is it just because the change is more noticeable? Or is the dual channel ram somehow less effective on a system with a dedicated graphics card?

So I guess different CL's isn't a problem? Can I have two sticks that are the same mHz and GB size but one is a CL15 and the other is CL16?

I just got new ram (4x8) I looked it up and it said it worked with my mother board and I plugged them in and they are working good and my pc works good but it seems like my pc is having slight issues. It crashed like twice and seems to lag at some points and sometimes my bluetooth headphones also have some sort of lag. Everything seems good for the most part but do I need to do like a bios update or something?

Noob question here: I previously had 4 gigs of ram in 2 gig increments and I just bought 1 stick of 8 Gig DDR 3-1600 which matches the type and speed of the previous ram. I decided to put them all in and see what happened. According to CPU-Z it shows 12 gigs, and according to properties in my computer, it also shows 12 gigs. My computer seems much faster & solid now, but what I don't know is, would it be better just to use the 8 gig stick. My ancient computer knowledge suggests that you have to use even increments or it can slow things. Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

Question: if laptop supports ddr3 1600, can I install ddr3 1866? Yes it will be run at 1600, but why strain the device all the way to the bottle neck... wouldn't 1866 sticks live longer or a little better performance because it's capable operating even faster and taking on slower speeds? or no?

Hi. I recently ran into some problems which may be because of not enough ram... My computer starts to stutter at simple tasks and my memory usage idle is 60% or something like that. I was using 2x4gb but now I am upgrading to 2x8gb. I stopped on HyperX Fury because it was recommended by a friend and it's also more affordable than let's say corsair (at least in my country). my motherboard has four memory slots and the first grey slot is being used.... the color of the slots alternate, grey and black and grey and black .....I am going to be adding an additional stick ( same exact manufacture and specs of 8gb ) should I add the new stick right next to the existing stick ( black slot ) or skip over to the third grey slot....will it matter ?...thanks

I have just upgraded from two 4G evga sticks to two 8G G. Skill sticks. Both sets were 2400mhz. Just for shits n gigs I installed all sticks. The two evga sticks are at 1600mhz but the two g. Skill are @ 1333mhz. It runs fine but is there a way to get both sets to the 2400mhz as advertised?

So under my system info it says I only have 4 Gigs of ram installed. But th4e software that I downloaded in the video says I have 6 gigs of ram installed, the problem is the computer is supposed to have 8 gigs of ram. 4 slots 2 gigs each in single channel mode. Computer is a gateway fx6840-15e. So what do I believe the CPU-Z info or what the computer under the system menu?

So, is this video still accurate? Because those numbers are small compared to today, and back then you could use two different 4 gig sticks and have little issue, so is what used to be 4 gigs and not an issue now made its way up to 16 gig compatibility
