The director's cut of this movie had a really brilliant monologue from Rambo about how "nothing changes" and that "when people are pushed, killing becomes as easy as breathing", and also about how "war is just old men calling the shots and sending young men to their deaths". It gives a really good insight about the mind of Rambo. He really hasn't moved on, but had developed a cynical outlook about the world around him. The scene at the end was critical, as it was essentially Rambo making peace with himself and going back to his civilian life, to live his remaining years well. They could have concluded the Rambo series there at that point, and it would have been the same.

They asked Stallone about the shakiness and quick, flashing scenes in the movie and he said it was how he envisions the world looks to Rambo. Always moving, head on a swivel, adrenaline spiked to 100%. And Julie Benz, just off her role as Rita in Dexter, was spectacular. She played the naive helpful heart so well that she was able to bring Rambo back home ultimately. And Last Blood is, in my view, a great way to end the story of this war machine known as John Rambo. But this one is my favorite of the saga because of the reality depicted and the turmoil of Burma (I still refuse to call it Myanmar....it's Burma!)

What makes soldiers end up getting PTSD is that they see the worst side of humanity. The brutality, cruelty and lack of concern for others is something that the average person, especially in Western Culture, has really no idea about. As sick as this movie is, the portrayal is realistic and it should help us appreciate what we do have in our countries and also realize that we need to take any measure to preserve what we have. You may have to fight at some point to keep your rights and freedoms, but the alternative is unthinkable. Fight like hell... or else. I'm glad this movie exposes the dark side of human behavior and mentality. Not something we need to dwell on but something i believe we SHOULD be aware of.

Every afternoon I would people watch from my balcony on the 5th floor and I would see another boy my age looking out his balcony across from mine. I never really paid that much attention to him or anything. A few years go by and one day my dad comes home and says that boys father has been searching for his son for the last year or so. I never noticed that he was gone. Apparently he was kidnapped by the military one day while going home from school. And he was now at 14 working as a mine sweeper. And by that I mean he walks in front of the ground troops and takes the hit if there’s any mines.

My wife is from Burma. From the Kachin tribe. Burma became a better place after Aung San Suu Kyi held office for 5 years. We were married there in her hometown of Myitkyina. The people of Burma are unusual people. You will see vastly different characteristics depending on which state you're in. The Karen are a closely knit people. They're tough and work together side by side. The Kachin are less cooperative with one another and jealousy runs deep. That's something my wife and I were trying to change in the Kachin. We were building an orphanage when the coup happened in February 2021. We had to escape into Thailand. What is going on there now is every bit as horrific as what's depicted here. I have pictures of bodies men, women and children and shared with the US State Department as evidence of atrocities....but they don't care. The world doesn't care about the people of Burma and it breaks my heart. You can find reports of what is currently happening in Burma on the Free Burma Rangers website or Facebook page. Sly wrote the script for "First Blood," so he wrote all of them. The other people who are credited as writers are the people who developed the movie when it was a straight adaptation of the novel back in the 70s. But Sly's take on the story is uniquely his. Yes, Michael and Sara are married. Rambo is shown throwing his "trusty knife" away when he destroys the pirates' boat. The blade-sword thing he uses the kill the Burmese general he makes brand new. They show him making it before he takes the mercenaries into Burma. He didn't dislocate his shoulder--he was shot there. The end titles of "RAMBO" are ungodly long. The movie's run time is 93 minutes (you don't discount end titles when figuring a movie's run time). There's about 13 minutes of end credits!

Hi Mary, I haven't seen this one since 2008!🙂I do remember the high gore factor in the deaths.😱Great reactions to the very graphic Rambo film, Mary!!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Probably the second film is my favorite. I like that the dialogue is a little corny.

Part of Stallone's trinity for comeback success in the mid 2000s-2010s. After Rocky Balboa (2006) and before The Expendables (2010). Announcing his return to the role of John Rambo as well as writer and director of part 4. Exploring The Saffron Revolution and protests against the ruthless SPDC was a very smart statement for Stallone. Also he felt that Rambo could certainly battle against such a travesty. This movie made history. It had one of the first-ever Red Band Trailers and the studio didn't just want to give us a look at some average footage. They presented Rambo doing what he does best and it was mind blowing. Millions of views for what would be the first in a new trend of standard promotion and it worked. So much praise for this installment. Going deeper than deep with the Rambo character. His path between war and peace has been an uneasy one. In the reviews, the key words were 'Stallone & Legend' and that sounded so good to hear. It was suppose to be Stallone's last hurrah as Rambo and If it had been, it was an deserved ending.

In the final sequence of Rambo, the title character uses an M2 .50-cal. heavy machine gun to tear the bad guys to pieces. In the movie, the gun is mounted on the back of a jeep, but originally, Sylvester Stallone was going to carry it in his hands. Despite the gun weighing 120 lbs, the superhuman Stallone was still able to hold it and fire it. However, he couldn’t move it quick enough. Some critics called the gore inflicted by the M2 unrealistic, but war veterans who’d used the gun in Iraq and Afghanistan said that the violence was, in fact, realistic and if anything, it was toned down from the real thing. - Screenrant article.

As a Buffy/Angel fan, I love to see Sly casting both Julie Benz who played the Vampire Darla in said shows and in the Expendables we have 2 scenes with Charisma Carpenter, Cordelia :) As an Action fan, this film really kicks arse. As a historian, yup this is quite tame compared to the kind of things the real wankers did out there.

Funny, my introduction to Julie Benz was Rambo IV (I didn't recognize her when I saw her in Buffy until I did). When I did see her, I was surprised that she did more than that. Well, I'm still learning things

Nothing Changes, you won’t change nothing Rambo says over and over again. But, in the end it was Rambo that changed, and he was able to go home again.

It's not the perfect Rambo film I was hoping for, but it was a pretty entertaining one. At least Rambo's years away from war hasn’t dulled his ability to rip out a man's throat with his bare hands.
