I do both digital art and sketchbook art. Only recently did I start doing digital art and let me tell you, it's freaking hard when you first start. It's like you don't have any hand control over a pencil or an eraser. You're not physically holding those things and when you first start digital drawings, it's definitely difficult. But I still believe it's real art. There is so so many forms of art: sculpture, graffiti, water marbling, etc. So why wouldn't digital be thought of as another form of art? People can do both amazing things with the digital world and with paper 🖤

Wonderful artwork. :) About the question: I'd say: Wrong. Art is everything that can be created by one person or multiple people. Art cannot be limitated to certain mediums or techniques. Art is art because it can be anything and everything. For me it doesn't matter wether an artist works digitally or traditionally, which program they use or if they work with markers, colored pencils or watercolors, if they do everything from Imagination, use references or use tracing techniques (And I don't mean stealing someone elses work. That's just wrong and we all know that), if they do everything from scratch or not. It doesn't matter wether they draw, paint, sculpt, make photographs and so on. Art cannot be limited because every piece of art is special and cannot be simply recreated. Many people say things like "You do (insert any kind of art/medium/technique you can think of) ? But that's not real art ! Anyone could do that!" And that's so wrong. Because every artist, it doesn't matter what techniques or medium they use, puts so much love and effort into their pieces. And that's what makes them special. That's what makes them artists and their work art.

We should call it 'Wishi Tape'

if a white canvas with a black square on it can be art, then why shouldn't digital be art?

This drawing was so beautiful! I really like the way the circle behind her head looks! Regarding the qotd, I believe that digital art is just another medium and it takes time to get right and, just like traditionl art, you never really stop learning of different ways to do things. While I'm not a digital artist, I do know that they experience many hardships (such as a drawing being completely deleted if they don't save.) Digital artist are just people who do art digitally and it does make them any less of an artist because of that. People who say digital art isn't real art are very closed-minded in my opinion.

A teacher of mine once said something to me that to this day makes me define what is the difference between Art and just expression (wish is not the same): If this “art” that you proclaim to be such is interfering or worse destroying other kind of art... then that art its not art, it’s just trash and vandalism. To answer your question, I think what makes Art so great is that you can express yourself freely however you want to 。Thus , the answer to this goes without saying for me。The tools you use for digital art may be different , but it still got it's own concepts 。There are also so many other opportunities you have when using digital art which could hardly ever be achieved in traditional drawing 。 Both digital and traditional drawings should be equally valued in my opinion , I like them both。

Is digital art real art? That is an interesting question. I myself would say that digital art is still art even if it was made with tools that make drawing easier for some people. Art is a very undefined thing and while with digital art you have many possibilities on what you could do traditional art has it's happy accidents that give it some life. (I might add that digital art can have life too.) Everything that is created can be seen as art by anyone who wants it to be. I would say that there is actually no "real" art because what is real to us might be fake to others. Every piece of art is valid as it is and even if people say that it isn't that doesn't make it true. If anyone makes digital art it will very well be digital art for that person and it could be art for us too. Because in the end everything is art whether we accept that or not. Also your art is beautiful and really inspiring :)
