You Bet Your Life is a 50's game show hosted by Groucho Marx. This guy was on it, and he's a flippin crack up. I don't indend to infringe copyright or anything. Just want people to see how funny this is!

Deadpan comedy is probably the hardest comedic skill to master. Very few people are gifted enough to pull it off so successfully and naturally. Those who say Mr Gonzales was perpetuating stereotypes, they obviously don’t know comedy. This man is putting on a clinic.

I know people give him a lot of shit for the end Bc he was kind of losing it (as if that’s his fault) but he still was way more quick witted then most 20 year olds in his 80s. The cold feet line itself wasn’t like the most insane joke I’ve ever heard but it was way more his timing and delivery and how fast he threw it out

Ramiro [NOT Ramino!] was a natural talent, and while he did a tremendous amount of television, I only wish he had been cast in more films. His role as Carlos the inn-keeper, opposite John Wayne in Rio Bravo, is absolute perfection. Only half as tall as Wayne, Ramiro [by 1959 billed commonly as Pedro Gonzalez-Gonzalez] commands the screen in all their scenes together; Wayne knows it, and gives him plenty of room to perform. In fact, this appearance with Groucho led to him signing with Wayne's production company, Batjac, the start of a working relationship that lasted for two decades. Although played here for laughs, the story of meeting his wife, dancer Leandra Aguirre in 'San Antone,' is entirely true. They remained together until his passing in 2006.

Pedro Gonzalez - Groucho's favorite all time guest. He was a professional who worked the still surviving Hispanic vaudeville circuit in South Texas and thereabouts. It was a vaudeville world Groucho knew from his youth of dancers, comics, singers, dare-devils etc. that was long gone in the rest of America.

It was all years of practiced comedic timing. Gonzales Gonzales did not drive a station wagon - he was a professional comedian and performer with years and years of practice before he ever met Groucho. I think that's why they got along so well and why Groucho enjoyed his dance - Groucho danced when he was younger in a really similar way.
@trevormiles5852
@trevormiles5852 Жыл бұрын
@@PapagenoMF Actually that was a national dance that is still performed now. But, I know the Groucho dance you spoke of. Like Groucho and brothers as well as Laurel and Hardy they all had a off stage persona. It was nice of you to bring that up so that we would not be taken in by his act and thing he was not action. But part of the fun is US being in the dark of the true talent. I remember feeling betrayed when Bowzer from Shanana turned out to be a Juliard student. All great enternators.

Ramiro, or Pedro, Gonzalez was singing and dancing in Vaudeville shows from the time he was a child. It has always been rumored that this Groucho episode was set up for him to promote his talent. Whether or not that is true, he became an easily recognized if not well known actor in films and on TV. He was smart with the money he earned, buying up real estate around Hollywood and Los Angeles and retired quite comfortably. He is the grandfather of actor Clifton Collins Jr. I was actually searching for a clip from "Capote" when I found this.
