Making a Rammed Earth and Tire Wall is physically taxing! Rammed Earth and earthen homes and walls have existed since antiquity some are thousands of years old!
This technique is used for constructing foundations, floors, and walls using natural raw materials such as earth, chalk, lime, or gravel. In our case we added tires and used our natural Caliche rocks, calcic soils ( our dirt is like a limestone blend) to fill the tires to begin our wall. The nice part is that it didn't cost us anything for the supplies we used. This really is taking recycling, and up-cycling to the next level!
Rob's shoulder, elbow and low back have been yelling quite loudly for a massage! We are at the beginning stages of creating this wall. Originally it was going to be a junk project but a project like this is worthy of having it's own video. This has also been one of the most difficult video for me to edit as well. I hope you enjoy our video. Feel free to commnent.
Rob and I are in our sixties and have wanted our own piece of land for many years we are new to homesteading and prepping. I'm sure we will post most everything we are up too on Blissful Acres our desert paradise. Things like th solar system Rob researched and put together, building our greenhouse, fixing the well house, our home, sewing, cooking and even a video or two about our 1966 bus conversion Sedona Synergy. Looking forward to meeting you! Feel free to comment!

@@FrugalOffGridwe paid over a thousand to have someone come with an excavator to dig holes for our fruit trees. One hole ended up being 16 and a half feet deep due to the cement calache. Would have loved to dig a green house hole. Hmmm, maybe we will. We just bought an old RV carport frame and plan to use it as a green house. Not many days of freezing here. I think Brad paisley had a song that talks about the way things have changed...like words. It goes... “Back when a screw was a screw, the wind was all that blew, and when u said I’m down with that, it meant you had the flu... I miss back when” oh how the times are changing! I feel like a dinosaur already at age 34.🤔 And I don’t have kids but I do have a very happy wife. Y’all take care and so much love from way down in lower Alabama 🙏👋🏻

Oh and I’m considering making one of those tire walls myself. I’m no stranger to saving money by repurposing and hard work. Also, no shortage of old tires dumped around here and I can clean up the countryside as a plus. Idk why more people don’t use these tires to build them earthships. I could totally live in one because of how cool they stay all summer. It be hot here in the summer...

Hi CC actually I planted sweet potatoes and two tires stacked on top of each other and indirectly that's what gave me the idea for the wall. Sweet potatoes were planted too late and winter hit too soon, so no sweet potatoes. The wall has been back breaking. We've gotten quite a bit of rain so far this year. Too bad we didn't have our rain system setup we only get about 12 inches a year. Cactus will grow in just about anything as long as it's in Sandy soil. One of these days I'll take pictures of our cactus if they survive in the pots over the winter. You surviving the weird weather we are having? Hugs

@@blissfulacresoffgridhomest2098 You probably already know, but planting in tires is great, as long as the sun doesn't bake the black tires, which would then bake the roots of plants in them. I once grew potatoes in tires and it was fantastic, but the sun didn't get to them (just one stack, not all). I was just curious about the tire wall since you had your place fenced in already.
