These boys are legends what a lot of folks don't know is that Danny Bill was a Muay Thai Champion of France at the tender age of 15 how is that even possible? that just blew my mind when I first heard about it. Imagine that!!! I can't even get my head around that let alone grasp it. wow!!!

In a french interview Dany Bill said that he was able to accelerate at the end of the match to try to knock Ramon out but he didn't... He also said that Ramon said to him before the fight "Dany, I know that if I want to win this match, I have to knock you out because I know that if it goes to the judge decision I will lose..."

Dekker's was known for his fighting spirit moreso than technical skill. While he was no doubt skilled he wasn't ever as polished as someone like Danny Bille, who is a guy who could beat Thais by being MORE technical than them. Dekker's legacy is his never die attitude and ferocity . A guy like Danny Bille was technically better than Dekkers but his style didn't inspire people the same way. But make no mistake Bille was the better fighter this fight.

Dekkers just didn't know when to quit. Crazy strong mentality but detrimental to his own health. RIP Ramon

MMA is a relatively new sport, and its much different than Muay Thai. How many times per year does an MMA fighter fight? On the bigger shows, usually anywhere from 3-5 times per year on average. On smaller shows, maybe a few more. A lot of these Thai fighters fought every other week early in their careers, and some of them have 75-100 fights before they even turn 20, and retire in their early 20s. Dekkers was an "old" 28 year old because he had a lot of fights, and injuries at that time.

Danny Bill is Just and fantastic fighter

God damn what a chin. He took a perfect left high kick to the sweet spot and still got back up.

This was after Dekkers had gone through many many injuries and surgeries. Shit......they thought they’d have to amputate his leg, before this fight. Dekkers in his PRIME and this would have been ONE HELLUVA FIGHT AND GOD ONLY KNOWS WHO THE WINNER WOULD BE!!! 💯👊🏼💙😉 R.I.P. DIAMOND DEKKERS 🙏🏼😓💙

Noted for their exceptional physical prowess and technique, despite handicaps as foreigners, these two men had managed to stay at the top of the highly competitive Muay Thai world. In Rayen Simson fight, Dekker had already passed his peak. On the other hand, both were at their peak in this fight!! Bill must have been the toughest opponent in Dekker's career.

Dany Bill was a great fight no doubt, but i think i should point out by this time in dekkers career his right leg was screwed, his doctor told him to stop fighting.he was meant to kick with his left but he continued to use the right sometimes.respect to both fighters.

There used be a man who had won Simson in his prime at the age of 35. His name is Ivan Hippolyte, another legend. I wish I'd seen Dekker vs Ivan Hippolyte or Bill vs Hippolyte in their prime, although there was a slightly difference in weight between those fabulous three. fantasy fight!!!

i said he is a good fighter man, no disrespect at all, im thai and i know how good he was back then. for me muay thai legends were Samart and Jomhod. dekkers was good thats why he won fighter of the year award. he has powerful punch and kick but in thailand elbows and knees count more points.

Ramon Dekkers was a very good kickboxer, lots of power/fury. Unfortunately, many powerful martial artists/fighters don't live very long when using that approach. (I make a list if I got the time, but those in the know, knows exactly what I am referring to). This fight itself is very boring to watch for those "not" in the art, but man, two legends of opposites head to head.....RIP RD, your stamina/strength have given rise to many aspiring caucasian fighters....

That being said even at the same age Danny Bille would have given Dekkers ALOT of problems. Just watch his strategy in this fight, he uses against Dekkers the exact kind of weapons that Dekkers was never good against. Straight punches and Thai clinching. Dekkers always hated those, that and elbows.

I wish espn2 would go back to showing more out ther sports those were the days you got to see some cool stuff like Muay Thai

I watched a few clips of Dekker man he is so economical with his technique never a swing or a wasted motion just very technical very tight. I am trying to teach my students this just stick with technique and don't get into the trap of trying to throw everything and hope it lands.
