Rampant crime spills over to schools in Gqeberha

Күн бұрынAn alarming surge in crime in Gqeberha has now spilled over to schools. From armed robberies to brazen muggings on school grounds, the safety of pupils and staff in various areas is at risk. In 2023, ten schools closed just before the final exams. Iman Rappetti speaks to Eastern Cape Education MEC Fundile Gade.

Gangsterism is entrenched in South African society.Do these people think a few extra police vans and some extra security guards will solve this?since the 1990s there has been a steady increase in gang activity that has gone unchecked.Whole generations of young kids have grown up in this sub-culture and are saturated in its practices.It is much bigger than crime.Lack of job and training opportunities,inadequate housing and poor education will keep this serious problem a serious problem.
