Rampart Reservoir loop is a 11 mile hike located near Woodland Park, Colorado. This hike transports you out of Colorado and is a hidden gem IMO. This was filmed in early May.

Pretty great relaxed MTB too! I like to ride clockwise then turn around and go back around.

An interesting fact about the water in the Rampart Reservoir is that it comes from the Colorado River Headwaters 160 miles away, other than the snow and occasional rain. The Rainbow Gulch is the water coming in from the underground pipeline. You aren't supposed to swim in the water as it's water for the people and agriculture of Colorado Springs (mostly). The water is piped from Twin Lakes near Buena Vista.

One of our favorites. Never very crowded and a great place to get some good mileage at elevation. 😀

It sure is, I grew up in Woodland Park and have wonderful memories of biking around the Rampart Range Reservoir. We used to ride from Woodland Park all the way up, and then around it and back home, it made for a three and half hour plus ride.

Ah yes, those inlets are certainly something - especially if you do the loop the other way. It's just a constant feeling that you're getting no closer to the dam, even if you really are.

Great hike man. Amazing scenery and always good to have a furry friend on your side, the best companion to have out in the wild ;) Stay safe out there, M.

Is there any offsprings with water on the path or you should bring water with yourself?

I would rely on your own water. There is a spring that I show but other than that, its fairly dry.
