Blind or sighted, it's a big deal to visit the fire station. I remember visiting a fire house back in the late 1940's. I remember how they had their boots and fire suit next to the beds so that they could just swing their legs out of bed and right into the fire suit and boots. We saw the fire pole but we were not allowed to slide down to the main floor. There were a lot of things for a kid to take in all at once but I still remember it more than 70 years later.

Some of these have nothing to do with kindness. It may not seem like it these days because most media only report bad shit, but helping others in need is part of Human Nature. Especially when lives are at stake. I've seen it with my own eyes. People risking their lives to save complete strangers. It happens more than we realize.

Regarding the bird salesman... Sadly the birds are trained to fly back to their owner, so he can sell the same bird multiple times...

perhaps. but the man gets money for food / Necessities and the people get a great feeling of not only helping the man but the birds too. plus he must be taking care of the birds to keep "selling " them

And it is the worst scam possible, because it preys on humans emotions.. These kinds of scam is all over the place, ESPECIALLY in regions where there are buddhist temples... Because monks will buy them free... To say that the man gets money for food, is just plain stupid... He could do other things more worth while and more honest... If you defend this kind of behavior you are no better than the scammer. IT IS A SCAM. Do not even try to defend people preying on other people...
