13:09 To help you understand a bit of the Lore SPOILERS might be ahead The world of the game is called Rivellon. In this world you have 7 Major Races, that where all "created" by 1 God, so there is 7 Gods. The Gods chose a Champion, a representative of their will and power on Rivellon, that make their bidding and wich his duty is to protect the world, and he also enjoys Immense Godly powers; this Champion is called the Divine( from wich the series name is from, Divine Divinity) Now some Mortals every or so generations, have the pre-requisite to Become the next Divine, should the one in place, be killed or lost, those are called Godwoken, as Godwoken, they have a destiny and more powers than others, but it doesn't mean that ALL of the Godwoken, can become Divines, it is also a competition, and politics or racial feuds can be mingled in it. The Last Divine, Lucian, was killed at the end of his War Versus the Black Circle, a dark Cult and organisation of Dark Mages, Necromancers and Zealotous murderers, that wanted to use Dark Magic and rituals, by summoning Demons and worse into Rivellon, to conquer Rivellon for themselfs. Lucian the Divine, with his armies have been at War with them for decades, and at the end he was reported Killed. Now begins the "competition" for new Godwokens to challenge the Trials and become the new Divine. The Players characters are all Godwoken, so your goal is to challenge the Trials, master your Sourcery powers and try to become the Next Divine to bring balance to Rivellon. Off course in the background dark forces are working to kill you or "sponsoring" their own Godwokens, so that they themselfs becomes the Divines and has all the Powers of the World. Now, since Lucian was dead, the Veil between Rivellon and the Void, has weakened, Attracting Voidwoken, dark entities coming from the Void between the Stars (basically Chtulhu like entities) each time someone uses Source magic, there is a risk that Voidwoken are attracted and starts to appear and wreak havoc and destruction around. So by popular demands of the Little folks, the Order of the Magisters, lead by Alexandar, the son of Lucian the Divine, took upon themselfs to hunt and imprison ALL the Sourcerors. Alexandar also been a Godwoken, is also a Sourceror, so he volunteraly put a Source collar on himself, leading by example etc. Now while their idea is not "bad", cause there is an issue with Source, the way they're doing it is far from good. Its litteraly become a Witch Hunt, with people getting imprisoned, even if they don't have Source, simply of the suspiscions by others, and people gets killed and Purged and even worse, cause a GOOD chunk of the MAgisters are fucking Bat shit insane lunatics and sadistics motherfuckers with a superiority Complex. A Mix of Spanish Inquisition level of Powers, with KKK zealotery and "charm"... Now on the races: You have Humans (off course) -Lizards that are far descendants of the Dragons -Dwarfs -Elfs, but in Rivellon, elves are less LotR elegant and gracefull and good, and more like Eco-terrorists with ritualistic cannibalistic tendencies( When an Elf EAT the flesh of another creature, you can absrob some of its memories, ingame mechanics as an Elf character, you can gain extra info and even learn some skills through Cannibalism, yeah charming right?) And those are the 4 races that are playable by the players. Each race has an Undead/Skeleton version, so you can be an Undead dwarf or an Undead Lizard, undeads have slightly different mechanics, healing potions and magic hurts them, but Poison heals them, also an undead that goes around without his face/head covered, will cause Panic amongts the NPC's and be attacked on sight most of the cases. And then the Non-playable races are: -Orcs, less Tolkien or Warhammer Orcs, and more like Brown skinned bodybuilders with Horns -Goblins -Gnomes The game uses a Freeform systeme based on Skills, instead of classes. You have a range of Skills "schools/Trees", that you can level up with Skill points at each level up, and wich grants you acces to higher and better skills, you need to find or buy/craft a skill book to learn a skill. THe game systeme is VERY open, and allows for all kinds of different builds, wich is one of the thiongs that contributed to the games popularity. The Harsh and challenging combats, with the game not taking you by the hand, leaving you to trial & error and experiement is also an aspect that made it popular amongst players. You can cheese the everliving daylight of the game too, depending on your selection of characters and skills combos, and its Ok, the devs approach was "If the players can figure out how to resolve a situation or encounter on their own, even by using Cheese , they are free to do it and have fun, we won't take away their fun, we like to see them how they are gonna get of a specific situation and by what means, we find it gratifying and rewarding"

I wish Larian would do something a bit different, like divinity 2, where instead of top down RTS, you just get one character to play and it’s more of an action rpg instead of a strategy rpg. My immersion always breaks when I can control other characters, idk. Original sin 2 is a great game, but it just doesn’t give me that feel the older one did.
