Nathan, this is a brilliant tutorial. Blender Guppy has done a brilliant job of creating Random Flow, but your guidance on how to actually use some of the basics are really what's missing from people being able to get the most out of it!

I`ve had Random Flow a good while now and to be honest just played around with its settings......just had to say how much your short tutorial has helped me understand how it all works. Thanks very much!

Such a time saver, instead of spending hours adding details to something like Ships i can use this addon and it already looks mechanical and plated
@nathandeshone8 ай бұрын
I agree! It's a quick way to get a good base for adding detail, or you can just use the detail it gives you as is.

Excellent tutorial, thank you! Appreciate your explaining the "why" not just the "how" of the controls.

Thanks for the nice tutorial , this is a fantastic addon if used correctly , the creator also adds fantastic upgrades, the new random flow now has cloth.
@nathandeshone Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I couldn't agree with you more. This addon is up there as one of the must-haves for modeling in Blender. The cloth is also a welcome addition. I might have to do a quick demo in the near future.

@@nathandeshone Nice tutorial! Btw. Blender Guppy is adding a starship creator to Random Flow soon.
@nathandeshone Жыл бұрын
@@pixelricebowl Thank you! Random Starship looks like a really nice addition to the addon. I'll have to try it out.

Absolutely love this addon, decided it was a must have. How do you select individual faces now ontop of the different layers you've added though? I can only seem to select the original faces underneath.
@nathandeshone Жыл бұрын
Completely agree. It's an awesome addon! Once you're happy with your random flow result, hit TAB to go back into Object Mode. Then select the new objects you wish to edit and hit TAB to switch back to Edit Mode. You should now have the ability to select and edit those faces.

I have just updated this plugin and auto mirror is missing on mine, so I have gone back to 1.8 version its on that one. still a great plugin worth the money.

Good tutorial. Did you do a tutorial on the sister add-on Random Creative by Blender Guppy?

Thank you! Also, completely unrelated, I quite like the blender theme you're using. Very subtle, but I like the darker viewport. Do you have anywhere I could download it?
@nathandeshone Жыл бұрын
Sure thing! I just added my theme to my gumroad. The link is in the video description. Enjoy!

Hello, great tutorial thank you very much! Quick question how do you recall the settings panel once it has closed?
@nathandeshone8 ай бұрын
Thank you! F9 will recall the settings panel.

Thank for the tutorial, but can i ask you about how you do the texturing?
@nathandeshone Жыл бұрын
Sure thing! I used Fluent Materializer to create basic textures for this model. It's a great tool for quickly generating procedural materials and realistically shading assets with no UVs.

Why would I use the addon's mirror instead of blender native mirror options?
@nathandeshone Жыл бұрын
Using the addon's mirror can be a little faster because your cursor doesn't have to leave the viewport to go over to the modifiers tab. It's mostly just because of convenience, but you can use the native mirror if you prefer.

How do you re access the menu If it Xs out?

F9 will bring back the menu.

You didn't have to make that cut @03:55... you created a triangle at the corner when you mesh was fine after 4 cuts.
@AnaydreLinguini Жыл бұрын
I think random loop extrude doesn't really work on ngons; so it was necessary.
@nathandeshone Жыл бұрын
That's true, but it didn't hurt to make that extra cut either. Triangles aren't always bad.
@pixel-ink Жыл бұрын
No disrespect. But, this video is way to detailed for something that says its basic. I had to wait 20 minutes to actually see what this addon does.
@nathandeshone Жыл бұрын
No disrespect at all. I really appreciate your feedback!
@Blendercage Жыл бұрын
What’s your difference between detailed and way too detailed? What could he have taken away that would make it detailed but not way too detailed? At what time in the video could he have put the information you wanted, wherein it would have been “just in time?” Not too early or late?
