After Kenny Rogers (who scattered nine hits across six innings, giving up three earned runs) and Barry Zito (who gave up two earned runs in seven innings of work) gave way to their respective bullpens, the Twins came out on top thanks to a two-run rally in the eighth. LaTroy Hawkins, J.C. Romero and Eddie Guardado each pitched an inning of scoreless ball for the Twins, while Matthew LeCroy and Dustin Mohr drove in the tying and winning runs on base hits off of the A's Ricardo Rincon.
