@@mightymartianca I don't see any particular insecurities. Just someone with a lot of talent and someone who says what he feels ('alright that's enough, Rob!) and acts real. There's no point in agreeing to be in a documentary if you then insist on 'not acting up for the cameras''. What did you find insecure about Coogan? Always interested (if not slightly depressed) in how some people see negative things where others don't - we can agree 'insecurity' is not 'positive'. Ps I didn't see all the programs, just this 17 minute clip, but a big fan since ...? way back
@Cranndaddy
@Cranndaddy Жыл бұрын
@@Netlife-001 to chuck my two quid in the pot - you see Coogan very much playing the antagonist throughout the series. Whenever Rob displays even a hint of pride about something he’s done, or one of his accents, Coogan always drags him down and criticises him. I definitely felt his arrogance was supposed to reflect insecurity - although that may just be how I interpreted it.

Two elements about Coogan make his impressions so accurate is that his diction and pronunciation is so clear and concise in general. He speaks so bloody well. It is a key ingredient.

Seems like dong a Micheal Caine impression is the British equivalent of doing Christopher Walken... But sure, I can't recount ever hearing a better one, these guys are brilliant.

Coogan's impressions were brilliant ..i can see now why they wanted him to play Stan Laurel.

It was more Coogan wanted to do Laurel. The movie was made by Coogan's production company.

Need to watch this again. Beautiful portrayal of the tension in what's meaningful in life- work or relationships. Coogan's (character's) ambition vs Brydon's happier, less ambitious character.

I would love to know how close this is to real life. Fantastic actors and the director (MW) at the height of their powers . The Christopher Lee impression is a joy.
