[Random] Ranting About Japan's Tiny Hotels

Hey everyone, I'm going away for a quick trip, and should be back next week.
However there's a few things that I only noticed upon moving to the hotel.
I understand that with the yen weakening, many places will need to cut costs, but the hotel that I was staying at was just too cheap for my liking.

I've stayed with a friend in a hotel room this size... Honestly it's not at all what I think when I think tiny hotel, which I associate more with capsule-sized rooms

Ahhh I think I've never stayed at a capsule hotel before. I'm slightly claustrophobic. The smallest I've been to was a manga cafe booth but that was hell since there was no privacy and the area above was open so people could actually peep at you sleep. I guess the hotels which I've stayed in previously have been bigger and I consider those the norm now.

I understand your frustration bro. The hotel I stayed in Chicago was like this and man it was so small

Do they have business hotels in Chicago too? As far as I know, there's 4 kinds of hotels in Japan; business, family, capsule and love. Business hotels are tiny, though not as small as capsule hotels, family hotels are the largest but rather rare, usually Ryokans. I love the 3 star hotels in Las Vegas the most! They were huge with double queen, or was it king, sized beds.

@@getsugasinOh yes Las Vegas! The hotel I went was luxurious too! In Chicago, I went to a family hotel but shit was so small compared to the price.

Viva Las Vegas! Correct me if I'm wrong but Chicago is one of those expensive cities right? I can only assume that you probably paid 3-4x of what I paid, for a similarly small room. 😫

I've only done a 3 month exchange in the US and I already found it too expensive to live there. 😭
