This month I have forged a beautiful Axe from the game Assassin's Creed. It is a Valhalla Axe with a beautiful engraved pattern.
Background of this project:
Back in 2021, I have made a Thor's hammer out of my Old anvil But the Anvil horn was still unused and became scrape with the passage of time so I decided to utilise the Horn to make this beautiful Axe.
Injury while making this project:
I have got a big cut on my right ribs while working on this axe. I was using on the Belt sander for making the blade but unfortunately the axe slipped, cut the belt and the rubber wheel and bounced back to my ribs and I got injured. My team suddenly gave my first Aid and went to hospital, I've got surgery with 8 stitches, it was really painful.
I hope you will like this project. Thanks for watching Pray for quick recovery.

Hello Everyone, Hope you are doing well. Do you remember the project of making Thor's Hammer out of the Anvil? This is the same Anvil i used to make the Valhalla Axe. I didn't want to waste the horn of that Anvil so I Decided to make this beautiful Axe. I Hope you guys loved this process of making Legendary War Axe.

Using an anvil on an anvil... *BRRRIILLLLIAANT!!* Also every time I watch these it always reminds me of the scene in the lord of the rings movies where the orcs were hammering away forging new equipment (I don't know why it reminds me of that lol) that is a way of me seeing this is awesome!

You actually want your axe handle to be flat on ether side. So you can feel your edge alignment as you swing. The same goes for swords and hewing spears and other pole arms. If it has an edge, you want your swing lined up with it so it cuts efficiently and doesn't twist in your hand. Even most maces have hexagonal handles that correspond to the flanges on the head. The axe looks good though.
@jimiylenius9848
@jimiylenius9848 9 ай бұрын
i agree with this but the axe seems usable enough since the pommel is not circular which is about the main part of the axe where youre going to be holding it and even if not, you might be able to edge align by feeling the grip pattern on the wood part and the weight of the axe
@PhoenixIronworksNS
@PhoenixIronworksNS 7 ай бұрын
@@jimiylenius9848 the axe is useable for maybe 10-20 cuts of soft material, 5-10 of anything hard like wood. It's made from the horn of an anvil, which isn't carbon steel. It looks cool, but it's a paper weight

I think it looks awesome right now. But the aluminum and steel are going to have galvanic corrosion between them. Should have used steel in the head attachment instead of aluminum. On the butt/pommel isn't an issue. The aluminum handle attachment would also be extremely weak. Not that anyone will be splitting skulls or wood with it, but doesn't make sense to make an ax head from something as tough as an anvil, and then make the handle from cast aluminum which is even weaker than forged aluminum. Could have forged a billet from another piece if the avil and machined it just like you did the aluminum. But still, a great looking ax.

Cast aluminum. A very poor choice. Extremely weak, and the steel and aluminum together will cause galvanic corrosion.

Looks amazing! Question - the quench - is there any reason why it only seems to be done on the knife edge and why was it dipped repeatedly instead of one quick plunge?
@Armand79th
@Armand79th 10 ай бұрын
Only the edge needs to be hard, as the point of impact.. Helps with edge retention. The softer part of the metal gives enough flex to stop the axe from shattering.
