Hi from the U.K. the version we get here has A.M/FM U.K frequencies (40 of each)plus EU frequencies plus other countries such as U.S Germany,Poland, Czech Republic etc also the car charger also has a lead with an so 239 connection to enable fitting to a vehicle mounted antenna, I’ve only had mine a few days so still getting to grips with it but it’s a really nice set. Thanks for taking the time to do this review 👍🏻🇬🇧

It is a great had held. And it works really good in a mobile. It suprised me and surpassed what i figured it would do.

I got mine over a week ago and love it! Bought a hys antenna that pulls out to 50+ inches and improves my range to about 2-3 miles without having to connect to my vehicle or my home base antenna! I keep the extra antenna with me and swap out the rubber ducky when need more distance. Thank you for the details of the Randy 2

I bought that hys antenna to its like 52 inch long , now that said i am not really impressed with it. I put a 102 whip on it and that made a huge diff. So then i got my ammo box radio out where i have a galaxy 225 . And of course hooked it all up 102 whip on a 10 foot pole with 4 9 foot radials and bam i was talking skip on my randy. I am now looking for a 325 or 350 i got a 102 in breakdown whip ammo box and a lipo battery and solar charger. Works great for a day out in the wood or camp rig

These things are for real full featured . They literally look like a thousand dollar Motorola police radio , or actually some of those police radios are several thousand , due to the software and programming price ,, but you know what I mean. Awww, it looks like a grown up uv5r with its little flash light :D Just jesting, it looks a well made and featured handie. I'd love to see a new SSB handie produced as I'd make good use of that often being pedestrian mobile.. seem to be very few ever made with SSB.

Got it…my best CB ever! I’m blown away by the quality of audio and features…not many on FM right now…way better receiving and transmit than Cobra 🐍 HH50 right now…gonna try tactical antenna on the Cobra 🐍…hopefully improves receiving and transmitting over rubber ducky range!

Hi there great video as always great little walkie talkie my first walkie talkie was a tokia 5watt c b walkie talkie 6 channel with 8 AA to power it and it worked great that was in 1969 anyways a great radio

Nice review. I can see these possibly replacing the ubiquitous bubblepack FRS radios commonly used for highway traffic control, especially with the FM mode. I was looking hard at a Chinese radio called the CB-58. It comes standard with every CB allocation in the world, easily accessible via menu. Unfortunately, it can't be programmed for the repeater splits in use on the FM portion of the 10 meter ham band. My Azden AZ-11 will have to do. Much like collecting linear amps, walkie-talkie collectors are their own subset of the hobby. The best part of it is that they're extremely cheap and often given to you. I have my share, and often take a Courier CCT-4B 23 channel 5 watt poolside. The old ones are big and heavy and eat batteries, but Harbor Freight has 2200 mAh rechargeable AA batteries for cheap. The Courier was listed online for $1 and no one bought it. I missed the end of the auction, but nobody bought it, and contacted the seller. He sold it to me for $1 + shipping.

Just gave mine to my son on a trip to go camping. We were talking moderately on our 10 hour round trip drive. The battery got down to one bar but I still was impressed. I am wondering if you can modify the AM only version that I have to do FM now? On another trip from Cali to Georgia I put a RM Italy 203p behind it into a New Virginia antenna. I was immediately talking to some skip stations in Georgia and Florida from Cali LOL. Things are very impressive. Thanks for the very informative video.

I got one as a gift. I have used it as a mini-base station and as a mini-mobile in my car. I have also used it to test antennas on my SSB CBs. The only issue I have had is that my wife hates to hear the CB noise in the car. My GNRS radios have K connectors and I just use the cheap Baofeng ear bud, but the Randy uses some other connector. My regular stereo way buds don’t work. Do you have any idea what I could use?

I too also would love to see a ssb version i would then buy a matching pair . Also tho .... I want the expand freq version. As it is i have a friend in the uk who is going to send me a uk version ... I should have it in 3 weeks or so. Cant wait.

Those 2 cells batteries you can upgrade those batteries with connectors you can run it longer.

Are you able to clip the wire inside the radio and unlock the 12 watt power selection in the menu like the European export radios?

I dont recall seeing the "white wire" , I will take another look. I can tell you that not one of these radios in the line up would give you much modulation at that power level. you would have to scream into the mike to get 60% modulation at best.

@@390WagonMaster Thanks. I ordered the Stryker SR A10 mag mount antenna for it. I was going to get a external mic/speaker for it but I can't decide on which one? The President OEM model seemed a little pricey @ $ 44.95. Any suggestions ? It looks like Motorola 2 pin mics would work ?

QUESTION: Greetings everyone, BLUF: on a road trip currently. I've hand my Randy 2 for a couple of weeks and my new antenna was delivered moments before I 16 hour road trip. I'm new to CBing but I read that I need to use a SWR test before I actually use the two together. Honestly don't know if I'm going to damage my new Randy if I plug it in and use it. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Btw I don't have an swr meter.

That antenna should have a decent SWR from the factory, the SWR will vary from car to car and various mounting locations. IMHO I would stop at a local CB Radio store or Truck Stop and get a cheap SWR meter and a jumper coax and check your SWRs. You can adjust them by sliding the whip either up or down in the mount. In my experience with this type of antenna I would loosen the Allen screw, slide the whip all the way in and pull the whip out 1/8" then tighten the set screw. That usually gets you close. 1.2 - 1.7ish and that would be fine to run. Look for a meter like this as they are a much needed tool and last dang near forever. amzn.to/3xe65ik

My first real CB was a 1.5 watt Walkie Talkie with only 3 channels back in 1975, I was hooked and been into the hobby ever since so I would say that a Hand Held would be a good start. You can get a TNC to pl259 converter and use a mobile or base antenna for extra range when you feel the need. You can also add the speaker microphone for ease of use. I know that other people use mobile radios as a first, but this device is self contained and has the 40 channels and its own power... Long long story short. Yes ! Cheers and welcome to CB Radio.

I would be interested to know from anyone that has one of these if you have a problem with the volume control not having a smooth ramp up in volume from the point of turning it on. Mine seems to have almost a digital jump in volume at lower levels instead of a smooth analog type of increase in volume. There is no scratching as in an obvious bad potentiometer.. I could possibly see this as a design to eliminate the issues of a pot going bad but no response from President on if this is normal. So far I have heard customer support isn’t that great so we will see what happens.

Yes I have noticed this, its not bad in normal use however for late night monitoring it is a PITA. I will note this in another video. Stay tuned.
