I remember Rollins saying on an interview that the RKO counter to the Curb Stomp was practised 20 times and they failed every single time but during the Mania match he asked Orton "shall we try it again?" "f*ck it bro let's do it" and nailed it for the first and most important time

Mick is the ultimate example. The day leading up to the hell in a cell he didn't even bother climbing the cage bc he knew if he saw how high up it was he would chicken out of the spot. His first time climbing was during the match and the rest is history.

So impressed wrestlers call the matches on the fly. And while some spots and the ending may be planned out, they just verbally discuss it with no practice or rehearsal beforehand and do everything for the first time in front of the crowd of thousands and TV cameras.
