Not the tribute album solo but a solo and band jam, very good quality from the Cardiff Wales UK show Nov 1981. Bob And Lee were kicked out by Sharon in spring '81 after the recording of Diary of a Madman. So, this early UK tour was already featuring Rudy and Tommy as the Rhythm section -enjoy!
Yes i know it is not Randy at 1:57 it was a mistake when i was uploading photos for the video.
The Sophia Gardens Pavilion was a performance venue located in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, Wales. The venue was built in 1951 for the Festival of Britain A heavy snowfall in 1982 caused the roof of to collapse, and the building was subsequently demolished.
The pavilion was used for the boxing and wrestling competitions of the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games.
Many notable performers played at the pavilion, including Danny Kaye, Cliff Richard, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd

His timing was impeccable, his rhythms were melodic and punchy, his fills seem less statements, his solos were phrased like great questions with perfect answers, his tones were masterful and how he controlled that monster sound with only his hands was just nuts. He was and still is the most amazing player I’ve ever heard, and there are some outstanding players out there. How many players do you know that you can hum every single solo they’ve ever played. Just one for me, Maestro RR.

@@tonebrennan8475 with respect I disagree. While rhythm and melody are individual parts of music, rhythms can be melodic. If you can hum it it’s melodic. Not the primary melody or melodies in the song but melodic nonetheless.

the guy played guitar the way I would've dreamed of playing guitar if I was in a rock band back then . It doesn't seem to matter what technique he employed , he always found a melody or phrased it in such a way to make it appealing to the ear.. He was one of a kind ..

Macdeth, what an emotionally honest comment. You memories reflect my own and no doubt many others. RR was a true master of musical madness and melody. His phrasing was and is unrivalled. He had absolute command of his instrument and controlled with easy the level of gain that would have terrified most players. He left this world far far too early leaving millions of us with a heavy heart to this day, but he was here and gave us so very much in such a short time. He would be delighted, humbled and a little embarrassed if he knew how many lives he changed by slinging that guitar over his shoulder and doing what only he could do with it. Musical sensibility and melodic mastery of the tallest order.

he was an A leaguer onto his own, undoubtedly, a cut above his peers in my book. He absolutely would not agree, he was too humble. When you think of a guitar player, who was better live, than even in the studio, it was Randy, and his phrasing of notes was perfect. Glad to see him going into the RNRHOF later this year.

@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle -- Being a fan of Randy's, you've probably read the same article I did where he said that he is copying EVH's licks because that's what the kids want to hear (I'm paraphrasing, of course). He definitely gave himself too little credit, which is fine. Let the listeners be the judge. Well as a listener (and huge fan... he's my #1 favorite guitarist), I don't think that Randy and EVH sounded alike. They shared a flashy style, but neither guitarist sounded like the other. When I first heard Randy play, I didn't know he had died (in fact, that tragic incident may have still been a few months away) so he is not my favorite because I put him on a pedestal upon his death. I heard Over the Mountain and it was like being struck by lightning. I hadn't even heard the first album yet, I was not really a big music fan. But that song, played for me by a friend, was a life altering moment. My hair grew long, I bought several guitars, including a Gibson Black limited edition Flying V, helped form a band, blah, blah, blah. The same experience no doubt that others have had over the years with their guitarist of choice. I don't have any of my guitars any more. I think about getting one again, but it really just doesn't fit my life anymore and I have no where to put it in an already cramped apartment. But those early 80s -- and Randy Rhoads' lifelong effect on my life will forever be cherished memories. I still listen to Blizzard & Diary and a nice selection of concert bootlegs, and his playing sounds as fresh today as it did when it first came out. EVH is probably my #2 guitarist. I would say that players like Warren DeMartini (another favorite) were more EVH influenced than Randy. You are right about Randy's phrasing of notes. His choice of notes and melodic playing was incredible.

@@brigham2250 Eddie made that bag comment about Randy admitting to ripping off his stuff, which if anyone has hearing, knows Randy did not copy much of anything from Eddie, two different players. Ed did not invent finger tapping, and Randy did it differently including the tip of the pick. Randy did say something about knowing the fans like the flash during a solo so he wishes he had more time to do something really special. I think Randy's knowledge of music theory at a high level, and his mom making hin figure stuff out by ear, really helped him. And this is one of the main reasons he plays the notes in perfect sequence because everything he did made a lot of sense.

Tribute, is a great album, because it lets people hear how amazing Randy was live, maybe one of the best players live ever, his ability to change songs up nightly and make them sound as good as the original despite phrasing changes. However, Tribute could have been so much better if they had used shows from the Diary of a Madman tour, and including the band jam and Over the Mountain..

Mr .DAISLEY I mean. Hey people did you know 80% of Ozzys lyrics were written by Bob Daisley?! Ozzy lucked out with drugs and this band.
@MichaelDouglasSkewes
@MichaelDouglasSkewes 4 жыл бұрын
Bob wrote ALL lyrics for the first 5 albums and most of" No more Tears"it's all in his book and I have talked with him several times! Ozzy is a brain dead idiot that got 2 shots of fame on the backs of others! Yes ,he did play harmonica on 1 Sabbath song! But other than that Ozzy is a musical dingbat! Randy HATED Sabbath! I asked him to teach me Sabbath Bloody Sabbath ,he did. I was about 13 and knew Randy as a neighbor ,so I asked if he liked Sabbath,he said NO ! He thought they were stoner rock,and he would kinda slowly bang is head and make noises ,like he was imitating Ozzy! So he really didn't care about the Ozzy gig,that is why he took his little amp from Musonia and his guitar and started tuning up and playing some riffs.He actually showed up late because he didn't wan't to go,his Mom said that he should,and he felt bad about that later, but no one could possibly have known what would happen. Anyway most people know all this,I just got carried away! With Bob writing,mainly about Ozzy and his faults,Suicide Solution,or Mr. Crowley ,who Ozzy had no idea who he as ,but sang about him every night for over 25 years before Zakk bought a poster of Crowley and hung it up on the wall wherever they were, and oz kept asking who that fat c^%t was!? No one could believe that he had no idea who he was!!!! That says it all right there!

Also, the unique tone plays a huge part in the sound too. That said, what a set of musicians he surrounded himself with. Totally lucked out. We lost an amazing musician in Randy but holy shit was Jake an insane guitarist in his own right. Then young Zakk? Je hit the jackpot each and every time.

Michael Douglas Skewes Just stop with your ignorance about Ozzy and Sabbath. There is no denying the GREATNESS that is BLACK SABBATH. It may not have been Randy’s “cup of tea” he was raised playing classical music while Iommi was pure blues based. Ozzy and Randy were the best of friends before his untimely and tragic death. Ozzy got the BEST out of everyone musically. Iommi, Randy, Jake e lee, Zakk, Joe Holmes, Gus G. Ozzy wasn’t a lyricist. We all know this, However his vocal melodies have made him almost as popular as Elvis these days. Ozzy & Daisley, got the best out of Randy. Something Kevin Dubrow couldn’t do. Quiet Riot was nothing but corny glam rock. Ozzy’s talent and persona made it possible for everybody to be creative to their fullest potential.

It's sad but he achieved so much in such a short time. It always makes me shiver when Ozzy said he knew Randy would'nt make ' old bones' i think some people know when their time will come. Ronnie Van Zant always said he knew he wouldn't make 30. THere is a story that Ozzy , Randy and Bob did a seance at the house where they wrote the albums in late 1979( a friend owns it now and it's only my channel) the board said " Randy you're going to die " they got scared and chucked everything in the fire ( they had made the board with bits of paper etc)

Yes quite possibly , Randy told a student at an airport the last time he saw him to ' learn your diminished ' I think Lynch was asked to replace Randy at musonia..The strange thing is Lynch didn't know his theory but obviously learnt the diminished scale...

I got a parable for rock and roll centers for God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life life is so fragile fragile we never know when we're going to leave out of here we'll never know if maybe tomorrow maybe our last we don't know when it would be our last that's why we need to accept Christ because we don't know we don't have tomorrow if we accept Christ we're passed from death into life Jesus promises eternal life to the unbeliever if we go to him and accept him will forgive our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness so receive him today tomorrow's not promised Jesus said what profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his own soul the burning hell
