Hello Future People! You are looking at this video and are probably wondering "wait, why didn't this Circle guy talk about the new Praetor or the Mark 6 helmets? Didn't those come out around this time?" The long answer is... yes! They were announced about 8 days after this video went up! If you're looking for Mr. Circle's opinion on the models then check out his review of the Night Lords range that came out Oct 2, 2023, as he discusses them at the end of that video. In short, they're pretty good but have things that could be better.

It's crazy to me that the SM faction with probably the most internal love in the GW design studio has always got absolutely shafted in terms of sculpt quality. Kind of says something about their taste i think....

Really appreciate that you dived into the 40k range to give some kitbash suggestions, these kits are treasure trove of bits.

Great episode and I really appreciate the section at the end pointing out where to get parts, the 40K range is as you say simply a far better one for doing Space Wolves and rather than buying any FW upgrade packs just get a few of the upgrade sprues, a couple of characters, cut all the pieces off the sprues and kind of pull bits out now and again. In some ways they can end up being cheaper than other legions specifically because their resin range offers so little.

I really appreciated your optimistic upside at the end. Something about that 40k tech priest comment "f#ck yeah it is!" made my day. Thank you. Great videos by the way.

The Sons of Hours have the correct machine pistol bolter with the Banestrike set that's coming out. There is no excuse now.

As a Space Wolves fan.... the worst range, and such a massive letdown.

Been waiting for this and I appreciate your positive spin at the end even as a misguided 1k sons fan/Wolves hater! I can agree with most your points in the range but I do enjoy the DS models and at least the wolf cloak on the old Contemptor was pretty cool. TBH I'm surprised you didn't touch on the godawful MK6 dog helms that thankfully seem to have been quietly pulled from the store.

Im not making heresy wolves but 13th Company (i guess same thing?) But doing juat as you suggested with WGT bits on Cataphractii, and mixing mk3/4 with the Blood Claws

Looking forward to your take on the most recent SW releases - new heads and a Praetor - because I assume you actually like those (I do). Either way, will be interesting to hear your take on them.

Most of these models and kits make me wish forge world will update there older models.

Geiger Fell-Hand is the only space wolf model that I think looks alright.

Good video. Have to point out how consistent you are. In the getting started series for HH1, you pretty much recommended the same plastic space wolves for 30K.

You know as someone who plays and collects Wolves I can agree with a lot of your points. I still have all of those models but I will not dent their issues. Oh whait. I dont have that stupid upside down bolters.

I kinda like the red blade's bare chest, but I still think the one you kitbashed looks better then the official model. >.> That being said, the tart shoulder on the fell-handed is one of my fave little things on a mini. I sorta wanted to do it to my SW champion as well, but I couldn't get it to work aesthetically, I was using the chaplain plastic 30k mini for the base.

Yeah those iton sight on the bottom.. Wow.. I would have to remove them and make my own.. Or put some targetters/laser or red dot sights on if I had a bunch..

The knowledge that the 40K Space Wolves will have a range refresh where they’ll replace all these old but great models fills me with anxiety for Space Wolves players…particularly so given their 30K range is severely lacking in quality.

The HUGE problem is: these character models are not in the armor the rest of the army is in. Mk3 is THE sw armor.

I will need to say I’m somewhat feel different about the name characters I like red hand more and more the new paint scheme on the website help but I now the it is detailed in a way that make you look at him from a different angle and that at the same time it make the bigger heavy bolter out look unwieldy well still making him look like he can swing that axe with skill. With farmhand I think they could of made the chest plate better but making it pain something red hand really well becuase it may sound odd but the wolves of 30k I know for not have a of detail on their amour out side of ingrained ruins and symbols, fur pellets and small trinkets most teeth and ruins on stone and some wolf lord would have wolf head and skull. So having the massive chest symbol make him feel more 40K then 30k.

And the Resin FW Terminators.... wow! The trim, the details, the pose. An example of skill level not the material being used in this case.

Certain things about red blade ... Should've been in cataphractii terminator armour ..just like the elite terminator choice .... Wolf head isn't too bad ...should've been more horizontal and have the rest of it's fur incorporated across the top of the model. Heavy bolter ..is too big, it should be closer to size as a regular heavy bolter ..but with space wolf symbols on it Cape is flimsy and tattered,more suited to his back mid drift ... His axe ..as he is a lead character ..his axe is fine ...it's not as thick proportionally wise to the deathsworn hatchets ...it's actually quite nice. I'm happy with the lack of design on chest ..though a motif in the middle could've done something Wolf head on right knee,too big ....I get they want to insinuate that he's so big that his knee can hold what would usually be on an Astartes head as a helmet ...but it just goes too far ... Again cataphractii...should've been tha ..at least the fur is fiber for this one

The Varagyr and Praetor look like third-party conversion kits to me. A lot of the basic ideas are fine, but the style of sculpting just looks amateurish and out-of-place as an official GW kit. Hvarl Red-blade is also almost good with the new paint job, he's just held back by how overbalanced he looks. Give the heavy bolter more of a forward grip so he's shouldering more of the weight, and remove the shoulder wolf pelt (or move it to the opposite side if you insist on keeping it), and he'd be much better IMO. Also, holy shit, I can actually work out what's happening with his model, with the clearer paint job. I agree that you shouldn't judge the mini based on the paint job, but an official paint job that fails to show off the detail of a model properly due to lack of contrast, definition, etc. isn't doing its job. I don't really like the 'Eavy Metal style for artistic reasons, but at least it succeeds at that.

Not into lore because you're analytical not emotional ... You literally have a channel that describes your feelings about sculpts and have done countless "salty" videos about issues with multiple facets with the GW sphere .... You literally are so invested in GW as a company ..that you have a KZfaq channel dedicated to it ... that's more "emotionally attached" than those who read and appreciate the lore ....
