Guys, brought one of these, but it only returns a max of 40mpg. I plug in every night and whilst at work, but the battery has never given me 31 miles on pure electric. If you’re buying for fuel economy, avoid it like the plague as it won’t give you anywhere near 101mpg! As I’ve said the max I’ve got is 40mpg. I’ve no got rid and brought the diesel version.

Read my experience and buy it if you still want to. Brand new 2020 RR PHEV I bought 3 months ago from Official dealer had orange engine light turned on when I came back home, still turned on after 3 times back to dealer’s service, changing different parts make no difference. Now has been at service 4th time for last month and they said that all this model cars in the world will be recalled for new hybride software that will be ready at the end of September 2020. 3 months after buying a new very expensive car, still stuck to service. Dealer said that JLR refused replacement because any car they replace will need the same software update all p400e models in the world will be recalled. JLR used my car as a lab to find a common defect but still not replaced or refunded.

How much petrol does it consume once the electric range is finished? Just asking... since with a car like this you're not going to drive slowly.. the actual range will be 10 miles at the most in EV.... if it starts at all... or if the dashboard works... just read all the nightmares of Velar drivers with their screens.

Like all reviews of this car, they fail to mention that the ICE cannot charge the battery when driving. This is the single biggest drawback. The Volvo XC90 permits the engine to charge the battery which makes total sense. The RR is battery dead on a long drive only using braking regeneration to charge. It’s a huge non-starter.

Yes and that is over a certain WLTP test. I have a chevrolet volt which goes 30 miles in winter (40 in summer) and never use petrol most months. I use petrol ever 2 months or so and on that day I'll get 150mpg comined with the electric. Most people don't drive like she said and you'll mostly drive on EV if you are the average person. It isn't a motorway cruise but can do it once in a while of course.

All these economy and power claims are laughable. You can only add the electric and petrol power together until the battery is flat, about 20 miles. Mpg figures should only be quoted when the battery is flat, I would guess about 20 mpg driven at normal road speeds. Without recharging every 20 mikes it so you have a 2 ton huge SUV powered by a petrol engine, I expect greater fuel consumption than the V8 Diesel.

K Welton false....first of all the battery never goes “flat”, it goes into what’s called charge sustaining mode, where it balances the state of charge around a nominal value. When it’s in that mode, it runs an energy optimisation strategy which arbitrates between different levels of electrical assistance of the engine, keeping it closer to its optimum fuel efficiency point. If you set a navigation destination, it will use the info from the nav system and run in predictive energy optimisation, which looks at the whole journey and plans electricity usage accordingly.

endoftheroad What a load of waffle you speak. Without recharging from the mains the only source of power is from the petrol engine. The battery may or may not be recharged by the petrol engine but ultimately without mains recharging the only source is power is petrol. Try driving it 250 miles with no plugging in and then tell us what the mpg is. That would be a consumption figure we could believe.

K Welton false yet again... a major source of power for the battery is through regeneration while decelerating off throttle and when applying the brakes... with careful driving you can extract huge amounts of energy through it, energy which is later used to electrically assist the engine.

Another load of rubbish from you. The only energy received by the battery from regenerative braking, a tiny amount in normal driving , comes solely from burning petrol in the engine. If you get much regenerative energy from braking or going downhill it is only through wasting petrol.

K Welton are you some expert in hybrids or what? You seem to have an opinion formed and it doesn’t matter what the facts are, you just hate RR PHEVs!! Good luck with that

Yeah right!... I appreciate the batteries just give you sufficient power to get to a dealership when it breaks down but Ginny....... what's happened to your perfectly manicured nails? 😲 4:59

Such a stupid place to put an electric socket.. the most place prone to collisions.. and yes the reliability record of JLR is undeniably known
