I own a 2020 ranger XLT with the Fx4! I love how my ranger handles i have 39k miles on it and impressively still gets up and goes 0-60in under 7sec. and handles and is impressively good offroad also I've only changed the wheels so no tune or other stuff! YET😅!!

It's hard to beat a ZR2 in terms of capability and off road gravitas. That said, I would also have a real hard time choosing which one I liked more, between the ZR2 and the Ranger. I go back and forth all the time, as to which one I think I would prefer. The Ranger might be a bit better on the highways and roads, though the ZR2 is of course great on the road as well (at least in comparison to the older trucks I'm used to driving) with the 10 speed and slightly more efficient 4 banger. The ZR2 likewise is better off road or on the trails, though a FX4 Ranger is still really good offroad and like the highway comparison, both are great at everything, there are just a few marginal differences which gives one the advantage over the other in certain areas. I've heard about a few minor reliability issues with each too. The 2.3 turbo in the Ranger seems pretty solid now, but we know Ford had problems with those 2.3s in older cars before they changed the fuel injection scheme. We've also heard reports of some weak brake petal issues, that requires bleeding the whole system which apparently is not something you can do in your regular household garage. The Colorado seems to have a solid v6 or diesel powertrain, but I've heard the 8 speed transmissions have had some shifting problems, and requires a fluid flush and replacement from the dealer. I also have heard mostly great things about the DSSV shocks, though there are some reports of them blowing a valve seal occasionally and being expensive to replace in addition to taking a loooooong time to get in on the parts truck for a warranty replacement. Though I spose any complicated mechanical systems will have weak points and bugs to work out, and since the reports seem pretty sparse as per all of the above, both vehicles seem good and reliable to me. It does not sound like you could go wrong with either truck, provided you avoid crazy driving scenarios, and get a bit of luck on your side.
