With the R-27, Ranger Tugs takes the classic tug-style boat and powers it with a Yamaha F300 outboard. Doing so transforms it into a go-anywhere, do-anything machine that fits the lifestyle of most recreational boaters.

That would be 140 watt solar panel. If it were 140 amps you could power a house.

It is quite amazing such a small boat with everything inside.

Yes, they've done an amazing job of putting so many features in that limited area. They do a good job, also, of having multiple functions in a given space. For example, although he didn't mention it, at 3:15 they show the electric Kenyon grill being lifted out, and under it is a live well with aerator, so you can keep bait or crabs/shrimp alive if you're catching your supper. And the under-deck space in the cockpit is the perfect spot for the optional generator, making repair/replacement easy without tracking grime through the interior. The 29 has a better bed, but you need a permit to trailer it; the 27, on the other hand, really *is* a "trailerable trawler."

SeikiBrian Better bed? How is it better?? Thanks

@@gotthyme The R-27 has a convertible dinette as the bed, and its sides are up against the hull sides so you can only get in from the end. The R-29 has an "island berth," which is actually a peninsula, and you can get in from either side. Attached is a link to an arrangement drawing and one to a video tour of the R-29 for comparison to the R-27: torontoyachtsales.com/listing_photos/photo_32147.jpg kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gLtloM6nzZeVY30.html&feature=emb_logo

You forgot to mention that an inbord diesel will get 9 miles to the gallon at 6 knots ,instead of 3 for the outboard . If you wanba cruise at 30 mpg,The outboard is obviously the answer . If you wanna go far & slow ,the diesel is !

Amazing little cruiser; the limitations of going for maximum interior size seem to be the slightly dicey walking on the skinny gunwales with no rail, if you need to get front.

I agree regarding the gunwales. I'd be in the drink, instantly.

I would buy this instead of a diesel pusher RV because you can camp in this on land or on the water and of course go where an RV can’t go.

As a person who tried it, using a boat on a trailer as a camper is not as dual-purpose as it may seem. Trying to offer some examples, the marine electrical shore power plugs do not fit into the campground RV park receptacles. After getting a custom electrical plug adapter, the next issue was the air conditioning still did not work because the marine air/heat pump needs the boat to be in the water so the thru-hull gets a constant supply of new lake water. Marine heat pump systems, used for heat and air conditioning, use a thru-hull fitting, then a sea-cock, then a strainer, then through a hose to the heat pump to get a constant, new supply of water to the unites condenser coil then discharge the water overboard. So, you can forget about air or heat when your boat is on land. Next, the campground didn’t like our over-board gray water discharge. So dishes and hand washing needed to be done in a bucket, then dumped into our toilet. The RV campground does not offer a marine waste black-water pump-out station, only a gravity feed dump station so there is no method to get rid of your black water waste. The marine systems suck out your waste water, like a wet-vac, connected to the sewage system. RV campgrounds have no such vacuum system. The novelty of climbing up a ladder to board wears off pretty fast. After your spouse falls onto the ground one time, she will be ready to say forget this, lets go rent a hotel room. Boat trailers have no stabilizer jacks. Campers and RVs have jacks at each corner in addition to the undercarriage with wheels. With a boat on a trailer, even a gentle breeze will cause your boat to shake. This shake is not the gentle rocking you’re used to. It’s more like a person shaking your bed to wake you up. That doesn’t matter much during the daytime, but try to sleep. That’s six examples, and there are more. Its just easier to rent a cabin, hotel room, or launch the boat and use it as it was intended. Anyways, thats what we found.

Doug Ales Good to know. Didn’t know the a/c used water for cooling. Never saw a video on that. Now if a campground has a boat launch, you could sleep that way and enjoy a day on the water relaxing.

@@DougAlesUSA all things I never considered but I think I would only use campgrounds in transit to watery destinations. Any insight on securely parking your tow rig and trailer for several days at a time while exploring?

@@gwolf7716 good question. I have found some public boat launches and many private marinas offer overnight parking. Only the private marinas offer secure parking.

Grillr/sink combo kinda sucks up cockpit space,cant even use the grille unless you find an outlet in nature.Generator too heavy/bulky for such a small boat

Why would you say that an inbord is a lot less efficient? Being a boating magazine, your assessment should be neutral & true . An inbord diesel is 3 times more efficient than an outboard at slow speeds ,full displaysmants speed. Like 9 -10 miles a gallon . The outboard is a lot faster , not more efficient. Please don't confuse the viewers.

Thats correct,a similar size outboard boat will have twice the size fuel capacity as of i/o or inboard diesel

Hi Mark, This is the biggest Ranger Tugs makes that's available with an outboard. What do you think of it? Alan Jones
@seikibrian8641
@seikibrian8641 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, Mark, it does look a lot like the R-29S, doesn't it? It's a lot like the 29, but of course it's outboard powered and it's trailerable without a permit. It has a V-berth instead of the 29's island berth, and it has a fishing and grill station at the transom instead of the 29's flip seat. So similar, but different.
