Being able to squeeze out a 1-0 win where the Tigers were 0 for 8 with RISP and left 8 on base is absolutely massive. Realistically, we lose that game if Detroit gets just 1 big hit, but in every important moment our pitchers clutched up. Makes up for the 1-0 loss against Oakland in my mind

Nice bounce back win by the Rangers, getting their first shutout win and save of the season. Lorenzen was good in his first start and win as a Texas Ranger!

Here's a suggestion for Tigers' management...teach guys in the farm system how to bunt, place the ball, etc., so whenever they have a rally going it's not snuffed out by someone slugging for the homer and ending up grounding into a double play! I'm so sick of that s**t!

It's easy to pitch to the Tigers...just throw them balls in the dirt and they'll probably swing anyways, but if they do walk, the next guy will probably ground into a double play

Michael Lorenzen didn't pitch that good of a game. He wasn't locating that well. The Tigers are not a real good offensive team. With that said, he got in big trouble a couple of times, and caught a couple of breaks. I think he'll be solid in a month or two, but this outing was nothing to hang your confidence on.

Tigers just don't hit. Could've added a big stick in the off season (Martinez) but didn't. Nice job Scott Harris.

The Tigers have too many big sticks! What they don't have is guys that can bunt, place the ball, sacrifice, or do the other fundamentals, instead they have big sticks that swing for the fences and end up grounding into double plays.

@@danlee4706 Aside from Torkelson (maybe) who are you referring to? I talking some one that has an OPS over .850. No-one on that team brings that. That's why I brought up JD Martinez whom they could've had for 13ml for 2 seasons. By then the young Tigers should be able to pick up the slack. I blame Harris and Illitch if the Tigers don't win a very winnable division.

@@jamesletellier9007 I'm referring to the Tigers offensive approach as a whole...this years and many preceding years. They have a rally going and someone grounds into a double play. It has become predictable. More than anything I'm against the modern glorified home run derby approach to the game. I know analytics suggests drilling the ball with men on base. If that's so, then they should make conditions that encourage sacrificing, base stealing, working the pitcher for a walk, etc. Moving the pitching mound back a ways would encourage more incentive towards small-ball instead of the three home run philosophy. The running game makes it more fun is what I think.

@@danlee4706 I don't disagree with you. Especially with the small ball approach. Its how the game used to be. Id welcome more of this style as well. But as I said there is no one in the Tigers lineup that scares any one. The Tigers had the money to spend, but didn't. Hopefully they're close in August to where they can get a rent a bat to win the division, maybe. We will see.

@@jamesletellier9007 I totally agree that the offense is not there yet. I'm hoping in 2-3 years we'll see some of these younger guys develop-Riley, Colt Keith, Tork, and I was really hoping for Baddoo to develop. He's my kind of player. You're right about needing a big stick now. Would have loved keeping JD Martinez, but we can't continue throwing money away on contracts like Baez and Cabrera's last 7 years. Sorry if I was rude but I'm getting so sick of double plays and swinging at sliders in the dirt...like Baez!
