Shotgun King: the Final Checkmate

Sadly, having 150% knockback doesn't seem to let you knock pieces back 2 squares. Getting 100+ knockback chance is great though, because you can shoot any enemy that's in your face even if your damage stat isn't high enough to destroy it (as long as the square behind the piece is empty, of course)
For reference, the rank 15 difficulty changes are as follows:
add 2 pawns, 1 knight, 1 bishop, and 1 rook
+3 health on kings and rooks, +2 health on knights, +1 health on pawns and bishops, boss double hp
fire arc +25°, +1 ammo max
00:00 fifth attempt
03:55 sixth attempt

You bet! Once I finish all the rank 15s I'll do some endless and some chase and probably go back and try to do some black bishop endings

Hello! So you wanted to know if there's an easier way to know in which order does enemy pieces move around? Through testing, I think I have it figured it out! It goes like this: Big King / King > Queen > Rook > Bishop > Knight > Pawn This means that no piece that isn't a pawn is ever going to go where a pawn *used* to be, and that whenever a knight wants to move to the same square as a pawn at the same time, the knight gets the square. Of course, as far as I know, some of the movements are still unpredictable, but hopefully this will be useful to you, as well as anyone else reading this!

Pentagram is random, but, it can let you hop spaces and gain ammo alongside the power.

That's true, even if one of them isn't reachable it's still two extra turns

Quick comment, love the videos! I wanted to suggest maybe turning up your voice a bit, the sound effects and all seem like they are at a good level, but it can be hard to hear you sometimes. Keep up the good work!

Hey, just found your channel and I learned a lot from your commentary :) I think the game sound is a bit loud (or you voice is low), so it covers your voice, and it sometimes makes me hard to hear you.

Thinking about it, this game is kinda similar to the Deep Blues boss in Crypt of the NecroDancer, except you have a shotgun (and pawns don't always promote to queens). Then again, there is a blunderbuss in COTND…

I personally dislike the Ramesses, since Knockback on a 50% is A) Extremely unreliable, and B) Extremely liable to get me in trouble regardless if I account for it or not. Even with 100% Knockback you could inadvertidly put yourself in checkmate or arrange a no-win scenario with a single shot, and it's just another factor you have to _always_ remember to plan for and therefore tedious and stressful. It's the same reason why I hate Sawed Off Shotgun and Presence as upgrades - anything that screws with your mobility or makes the White Pieces more unpredictable is just terrible. Why couldn't they have made a shotgun with Pierce % instead of Knockback? At least _that_ only has upsides 30% of the time and less likely to get you killed.... I can say one nice thing about Knockback, though: it synergizes _amazingly_ well with Moat and Deepwaters. Get it to 100% with that combo, and you're practically invincible once you break the Knights and don't be an idiot with movement. On the subject of annoying Powerups, Focus and the Extra Lives ones can be real stick in the maws due to the corresponding White Cards they add to the pool. They're legit amazing and mostly worth picking regardless, but having to face down a terrible White Card + Knightmare or getting stuck with Strategic Paralysis (which can _stack_ ) is never a good feeling, even with mitigation effects like Moat.

Richard iii has piercing and massive range but in exchange for low damage and massive fire arc.

I think it's definitely a tradeoff. It's saved me more times than it's screwed me over but only if I get 100% knockback, which isn't guaranteed at all. At 50% it's kinda trash

(10:36) Doing some math 2 months later, I believe you had a 24% chance of missing all 5 of your pellets on that queen. Judging by your fire arc, we can estimate that each pellet has a 75% chance of missing. (While the arc only covers 3 squares, it has a curve that increases the line’s length, making it more likely that a shot will miss.) miss-chance% (pellets) _75% (1)_ 56.25% (2) 42.1875% (3) 31.640625-% (4) _23.73046875% (5)_ (five pellets, final result) Considering you had gone through 4 floors already (and a few failed runs), I think it was a good call to not gamble on the chance.
