Great to see that great musician, Vince Gill, not like the superstar that he is, joining in humming at times, singing a high lead at others. One fine old sing.

Love this Stanley brothers song. This is one of the finest versions I have ever heard. It does the song justice. Marty is the best!

I love how Tyler Childers payed homage to this with his song "Creeker". The melody is spot on, the lyrics are basically interchangeable. I didn't recognize it at first... but when he sang,"I new not their name, and I knew not their faces " it clicked.

Wonderful rendition. The Stanley brothers would have been very impressed.

I'm, right now, watching Burns fabulous County Music doc. Already learned of so much beauty. REALLY LOVE the persons that I learned Roseann Cash, johnny, Willy , mother maybelle and a couple others are....I already loved MANY others but this doc made me love Roseanne and these, more...Roseanne especially, her respect for all the things that are best in humans is clear to me. I saw J cash 1978 christmas special (live) and without knowing it then saw some of the BEST live: Anita Helen and June, very sorry mother maybelle wasn't there (I think)....I'm so lucky to have seen that. Did I mention how much I love and respect Roseanne for how she represents herself. Love her now.

What's up with only one mic? Can't they afford another one? Just kidding! As they say in Ireland, "I was just codding ye." This is true Tradition of beautiful Bluegrass. Marty Stewart played in my town, Petaluma, California which is a historic river town north of San Francisco. I saw Ralph Stanley a few times at the gigantic annual free Festival of Country music. It is called the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, because they have other genres besides Country & Bluegrass. Dolly Parton performed there one year, Joan Baez another year, Mavis Staples from the old Staple Family Singers. They crossed over from black Gospel to the pop charts in 1972, shortening their name to the Staple Singers. Mavis has a unique voice. But before that, the Edwin Hawkins Singers crossed from black Gospel to the pop chart with their big hit, "Oh Happy Day" in 68. If you are on the West Coast, or plan to travel here, check out Hardly Strictly Bluegrass the first weekend in October. Hundreds of folks from all over the US attend this great event. Regulars are Willie Nelson, Ricky Skaggs, Earl Scruggs, Emmylou Harris, Del McCurry & many more big names!
