finally some honest and concise review from someone that's truly worn it and put it thru the ringer .... much appreciated... wish i hadn't bought those dior ones before your review.. everyone says they are so revolutionary and transfer proof for a bullet but it doesn't matter if it doesn't look nice on and wears patchy

Yeah, they are some of the worst modern luxe lipsticks I've tried in a long time. They might work well for someone who has cast iron lips, but my 49 year old lips can't handle them at all. 😬

Ooh! Thanks so much! It's been my favorite "easy" to locate Velvet Matte Lipstick. I still like the Rouge G from Guerlain and LE Velvets a bit more, but we're really splitting hairs. It's such a great lipstick, and I love that the recently upgraded the component. I love the magnetic closure. Dior has so me amazing formulas, and when I tried that velvet matte, I started picking up Addict lipsticks, and Satins too. Thanks for taking the time to share your favorite with me. I don't know if I would've tried it after the catastrophe that the Matte Transferproof turned out to be.

This is a great video! I love the way you chose to do it! I haven’t purchased a Valentino lipstick- when I went to try them at my local Sephora, several of the mattes were broken and I thought of your initial video 😂 I love the Rouge Gs, one of my all time favorite formulas! I’m glad it’s close to the top. ♥️

That Rouge G Matte is so beautiful. I LOVE it. I just wish it wasn't as quick to transfer to every surface all day long. It's a little high maintenance, but I don't mind. The color and the formula feels so good. Thanks for the heads up on the Valentinos. Maybe they're a more delicate formula and don't do well with heavy handling.

I feel like Lisa's lipsticks offer everything I'm looking for. It's the formula every other lipstick gets compared to because it's comfortable, non drying, pigmented, has a nuanced shade range and comes in beautiful packaging. Add to that the $36 price point, and I'm wondering why I spent money on La Bouche Rouge and House of Sillage. 🤷‍♀️ I know people have had problems with the bullets breaking on the velvets, but I own all but 3 of the shades and I only have 1 broken lipstick, and that's only because I dropped it. Thanks so much for watching today, and making it through such a long video. 😘

I'm putting myself on a lipstick purchasing hold for the moment. I'm swimming in new lippies, and I need a break. I still have a lot of work to do when it comes to the rest of the luxury lipsticks sitting on my vanity. There's a lot! It'll be a while before I pick up a Dries van Noten. LE makes the best matte formula in my opinion. Love those lipsticks.

I picked up the Luxe Trance formula when it launched shortly after the Matte Trance and I didn't like it. I picked up 3 of the Balms and wasn't bowled over. After 3 dud formulations, I couldn't bring myself to purchase a Satin lipstick. I know it's not the same as the Luxe Trance, but . . . who knows? If I see one on sale for $12 I might be tempted. Thanks so much for watching today. It is a shame about the PML, I love the nude and red shades so much.

That was epic! Thank you so much for such a detailed breakdown. Your last place… thank you! I thought it was just my lips that Dior Forever Dehydrated formula hates. The thing is, I keep using it because it was so expensive and I feel I have to justify that plus I keep hoping I’ll start to magically love it like everyone else seems to. But I think it’s going to have to be it or me - one of us is going to have to go. Also your first place…could not agree more! Those LE lipsticks fired up my love for luxury lip products and I’ve been searching for something as good ever since. But I’ve only come close; they’ve never been defeated. Apart from those, I have some of the formulas in your round up, but the information on the ones I don’t have is invaluable, and getting another opinion on the ones I DO have is just as great. FYI I have a single Valentino matte and it hasn’t snapped (yet). It’s a lightish pink though. I don’t know if pigmentation level has any impact on vulnerability to breakage or just luck? For example I see lots of people say LEs velvets and satins snap regularly but I have all of them (yes, I am that addicted to the shade nuances) and none of them has broken. So…luck of the draw maybe? Anyway..thanks again! This series is terrific.

Thanks so much for watching today. Only 1 of my Velvet's has broken, but I dropped it. It was my fault. The rest of mine are in perfect condition. I can use the Dior Transferproof if I add a hydrating layer over the top. I just hate that it needs it. That hydrating layer will also break down the formula and it won't last as long. I have done that, but I still don't reach for it much. Thanks for letting me know about your Valentino lipstick. I might pick up another one. I hope you'll continue to watch this series. I'm having fun nerding out over lipsticks.

I don't specialize in clean cosmetics. I'm not the right one to ask. I do know that Sephora and many other retailers have a "clean" section on the website so you can search that way. I know the La Bouche Rouge is a clean formula, but I wasn't bowled over by the formula. I LOVE Lisa Eldridge bullet lipsticks. All 3 formulas are at the top of my lipstick loves list. If you find a formula and a shade you like, I don't think you can go wrong. I do have a Lisa Eldridge Playlist, and I've swatched every lipsticks I have from her. I even broke some down by color family.

Yes, I have a video on the Velveteen Liquid Lipsticks from LE. Check my LE playlist. It should be there. I'm not a liquid lipstick fan, so I probably won't pick up more than the 2 I already have, but that's ok. Not every formula is for me. I feel like the $36 price point is so good for what we're getting. I wouldn't be surprised if her prices increase a bit, but I would still pay for the new lippies she's going to release later this year. I can't wait!

Thanks for watching despite not being a lipstick person. It's important to know what you like, and stick to it. Lipstick has always been my first love, so this video was inevitable. If you're not a lipstick person, don't feel the need to purchase things you're not likely to use. I need to cut myself off everything. Apparently I love it all! : )

Oh my gosh, I knew you were going for it but wow this is just so thorough and well thought out! And I’m not even a matte lipstick fan! LE was the only matte formula that ever worked for me so I guess you have saved me a fortune! (Now, when you start reviewing satins I will be in big trouble…)

If you're worried, skip the satin lipstick one. I don't want to encourage over spending. Really. I'm glad the LE mattes work well for you, they're such beautiful lipsticks, and I love the more affordable price point. $125 for La Bouche Rouge or $200+ for House of Sillage is too much in my opinion. They're lovely and a real experience, but if were only talking about the content of the packaging, you can't go wrong with LE. (my opinion)

@@thelipstickgal oh no WAY am I skipping the satin lipstick round-up! But it's ok, I have pretty good self-control these days. I guess I'm lucky I'm generally drawn to the more sleek and streamlined packaging of LE and Dior, so all those very busy ones hold no appeal for me.

Haha. I love watching other creator's lip videos, it's almost always an instant click for me. Thanks for watching mine! I like most of the luxe packaging I've encountered, but I like a simple case with luxury touches. Magnetic closures, metal components, and weight. The minute I'm paying too much for a lipstick and it's lightweight, has a bad snap closure, or is plastic, I get frustrated!

I LOVE the Velvet formula so much. I love the Insanely Saturated too, but I want more shades. I like the ones I have, but they're occasional shades. I want everyday shades in the IS formula. That's why it was lower in my line up.

HOS are among my favorite lipsticks.... I usually only wear either lashes/mascara and lipstick and I love these lipsticks so much , how it wears is very important to me .... the bow cases are divine , so bougie ❣ I don't really carry the cases in my purse, I just use the refill 💝

HOS makes a lovely formula, but I want more shades. I have 2 reds and they both look so similar. I would love more earthy tones and less pink. Just my personal preference. I do love the bow holders! They're beautiful. Thanks for watching today.

@@thelipstickgal I would recommend Emperor , Duchess is a nude mauve , I have gone through one already, I almost never finish a lipstick , you might like peachfully speaking, count , the bombshell is really pretty nudy pink , I swear, I should be on their advertising team 💰😂😂

I agree, during younger years we dont care about the price, the formula etc and cant understand why some lipstick are priced so expensive. but now in my 40s i understand why there are pricey lipstick on d market, and now i lean more on non drying and very light not compromising the lips. Of all ive tried i find TF to be very friendly on my lips. I agree with the givenchy as much how i love the packaging its just so drying😭 but with the dior though its okay with me actually and i love d minimalist packaging though.

I really enjoy the Show Dior Velvet Matte formula, but don't enjoy the transfer proof formula. 🤷‍♀️ I need hydration and comfort. When a lipstick is at that luxury price, but doesn't offer either of those, I'm not willing to recommend it or repurchase it. 🥺

I agree-the Lisa Eldridge are the perfect formula and shade range. I have many. Only problem is the breakage sometimes. Somehow it didn’t stop me from buying additional shades.Their customer service is great.

I've only had one of my Velvet's break on me, and I have almost every color. That's interesting. I'm surprised that I don't have more of that going on. Mine broke because I dropped it. It was totally my fault. I love the lipsticks so much, and I will never be without Velvet Ribbon. It's stunning.

Dior and Gucci make beautiful formulas. I really love the formula as well as the nuanced shades from Lisa Eldridge. I especially love the price point. I would pay so much for for the formulation, but I'm glad I don't have to.

I am 55, and with volume loss and age, if it dries down too much, I just look crinkly. I never understood vegan and leather either. I do enjoy a blotted look sometimes. I will probably never do the bow lipstick. It is absolutely beautiful. I do like the way the TF wears. I need to try the Prada. My lipsticks don't need accessories either. I laughed out loud. I enjoy the CT medium a bunch. I don't mind a bit of transfer. I need to try the LE. I was born to shop. I really appreciate this series. Have an amazing week ❌️ ⭕️

I can't stand when my lips look crinkly. NO! I need moisture, and I want comfort. I thought the vegan formula in a leather case was funny. I really like the Soft Matte from Prada and the shade Tiepolo is so pretty. I'm happy with most of these lipsticks, but I'm always obsessed with LE lipsticks. They're simply my favorite.

I’m really shocked your Lisa Eldridge Velvets haven’t broken because you have so many! I’m super careful with mine but have had 4 break. 😢 You are so right about the flocked velvet on the Givenchy cases. It’s so pretty and special…until it’s not! I really like the MatteTrance formula! I was surprised it was so low on your list! (And I never pay full price for PMG ever!) I actually like the RMS lipstick formula, but the packaging is not at all luxe. On top of that I find it so hard to snap the caps on! It takes a lot of force! I like the Gucci matte formula (but I like the satin formula more). It is very scented and I hated the scent at first, but now I love it! 😂 I think I made myself like it because I like the shades and the cases so much. I’ve never tried the Guerlain matte lipsticks. Now I’m very intrigued!! My new favorite matte lipsticks are the Prada Hyper Mattes. They feel so great and last! I haven’t tried the Soft Matte yet, though…and now I definitely will!!

I nearly picked up one of the BB Luxe Lipsticks, but I finally told myself I couldn't keep purchasing expensive lipsticks at the rate I had been. I did try the Crushed lip color ($33) and it's such a stunning formula and I love the shade I have. It didn't qualify for the luxury price point I set, but it's certainly a beautiful lipstick. That was an interesting video! I've had two of the Lisa Eldridge break within a few days after receiving them. The representative said that this was due to rough handling on the way to me and the fact that they have so much pigment. But now I am afraid to take them out of the house for fear that they are going to break. I think that is a big flaw, to have lipsticks that are prone to breakage due to the formula. I also feel like if I am going to wear a matte lipstick, usually I am looking for one that will last a long time. The LE ones look nice for a while, and wear down nicely, and feel good, but they are not all that long-lasting. So I don't think I will buy any more of her matte lipsticks. I do really like the Luxuiously Lucent ones and haven't had problems with those, though. I still feel that my favorite lipsticks are the Nars Powermatte. I put them over MAC Prep + Prime Lip and they last for a long time and feel comfortable to me. I also like the Nars Powermatte crayons, which are like a softer lipstick that doesn't set down as much, but that still lasts for quite a while. I am not interested in lipsticks with perfume in them (yuck), and so I think that eliminates all of the ones you suggest except for the Armani, Pat McGrath, RMS, Charlotte Tilbury and La Bouche Rouge. I do really like the RMS but feel like it's in a different category than the matte lipsticks, much more easygoing and casual. I really couldn't care less whether the cases feel "luxe" and appreciate the fact that it is easy to tell with the RMS which shade I'm picking up. Though I'd rather avoid plastic in general, if possible.

How sad. I've only had 1 of my velvet's break on me, and it because I dropped it. I have nearly every shade she's made, and with the exception of the one, they're all in perfect condition. I feel like wear depends on habits. I apply more than one swipe of color, so I have a lot more on my lips. That way it's easy to redistribute color and keep my lips hydrated. I'm also very mindful of how I consume food and beverages to make sure my lipstick lasts as long as possible. I don't even consciously think about it anymore I've been doing it since I was a teenager. I have one of the Powermattes, and they dry my lips out so much. It works well if I put it over a balm, but then I don't get the matte appearance or the long wear. That's why I've been hesitant to pick up one of the new pencils. I'm a huge fan of beautiful packaging, so small but luxe details matter to me. I try not to let packaging pull me in over substance, but I've had that happen before. @@gaurimenon3702 I'm so sorry. 😭 That was expensive. If you want the no-budge full matte experience, I don't think there's a way to comfortably wear it. If you're willing to forfeit the matte/long wear aspects of the formula, add a lip balm over or under the formula. If you can find something that's not too emollient, you might be able to maintain the matte appearance.

If you love the CT Matte Revolution, have you compared to the Beauty Pie matte lipsticks? Think they are called Futurelipstick Matte (in the traditional bullet, not slimline). I’m almost certain they are the exact formula. I have several of each. Feel the same, INCI list almost identical. Much more affordable for BP members

I have almost all of the Velvets from LE and only 1 of mine has broken. I did drop it, so it was probably my fault. The ones that get the most use, and I've had for a long time are still going strong. I don't use much force when applying them, but I've learned to be careful over the years. I love the idea of velvet packaging, but not the maintenance for the packaging. It look pretty on my vanity, but I always worry when I take one with me. I feel like the mouth feel isn't my favorite, but it's the fact that they completely dry my lips out. I end up with dry, peeling lips by the end of the day. It's not cute. I LOVE the Gucci lipsticks. The scent never bothered me, but I don't mind a scented lipstick. I grew up using lots of Lancome lipsticks and they're heavily scented, so I've been used to a strong floral scent in products for years. I almost don't notice it anymore. I really like the Guerlain Luxurious Matte and the Kiss Kiss matte. They're pretty impressive. I love the new Prada lipsticks, and I might have to pick up another one of the Soft Mattes.

Yes. You peaked my interest for the Guerlain lipsticks. But like you, I have quite a collection of LE lipsticks and have been stuck (in a good way) on her products ever since she first launched. But it might be nice to splurge on something different the next time I need a new lipstick. (or should I say WANT a new lipstick?😂)

My Lisa Eldridge matte lipsticks do the same thing as what was happening with that first Dior lipstick you showed on your lips, I get that bare spot as soon as I smack my lips together, I’m so sad about that. Her other formulas don’t do that but they don’t last as long.💄💄

I have found that I just hate matte lips of any kind. I don’t need gloss only, but matte is just a no go for me - the one exception is the charlotte matte revolution. I agreed 💯 with the Dior transfer proof formula. The worst I have gotten as well, and the colors are so beautiful. I also declutter my RMS lippies. I adored the colors but hated that one color would literally wear totally different depending on the day - not acceptable at that price. I also think it’s hilarious to market a lipstick as vegan, but sell it in a leather case. 🤣🤣🤣🤣You’ve got to be kidding me. Now, I’m nit vegan, but that’s not cool at all. This had me very interested in trying Lisa E lips as the one you featured looked beautiful. I want to try the Prada Hyper Matte - but my gosh, hyper matte scares me 😂😂😂😂

I love the CT formula. It's such a dependable formula with lots of options. I LOVE the Lisa Eldridge lipsticks. I'm not as much of a fan of the gloss or the liquid lipsticks, but I can't stop reaching for the bullet lipsticks. That La Bouche Rouge vegan lipstick made me laugh. Leather case, Vegan Lipstick? I'm not vegan but it just doesn't make sense.

The only one here that's supposed to be transfer proof is the Dior Forever Transfer proof lipstick that's ranked last. Think of matte lipsticks as ones that don't have a shine or gloss to them. They don't reflect light. More of a soft blurring quality.
