Web of shadow's combat "doesn't reinvent the wheel"???? No other game has had combat as expressive. Air combat is amazing, you can switch to symbiote mid combo, wall combat!!!

Spider-Man 2 is my favorite. After playing through some of the Spider-Man games, it makes me want to see superhero open world games for The Powerpuff Girls, Danny Phantom, Static Shock, American Dragon: Jake Long, and My Life as a Teenage Robot. I know that these have ended a long time ago, but it would still be nice to see.

The Amazing Spider-Man games hold a special place in my heart because they were the only open-world 3d Spider-Man games I played before Marvel's Spider-Man came onto PC. The biggest crime both Amazing Spider-Man games did was inaccessible suits because the DLCs were delisted. So in the first one I didn't have access to the regular Rami suit, and in the second game I didn't have access to the classic Symbiote suit, which made me livid. So the only way I could play as Symbiote Spider-Man at that time was Shattered Dimensions and Disney Infinity. To this day I cherish the awesome suit mods in Marvel's Spider-Man on PC, I have McFarlane's and Dell'Otto's renditions of the Symbiote suits (as well as their classic suits).

It's kind of baffling to me that Spiderman 2 (Insomniac) has been getting so much flak because i genuinely think it's WELL deserving of the #1 spot. Top 3 are spot on. Marvel's Spider Man 2 is not only better than the first 2 games by Insomniac in many ways but its the best Marvel/Spider Man game ever. It even got the highest Metacritic score of 91 making it the highest Metacritic score of any Marvel/Spider Man game

I had the tams 2 game since September 2016, and while ik its not a good game, i still had lots of fun with it. I also have spiderman 2018 and miles morales. I also played the spiderman 2 movie game, and the spiderman 3 one. I also played a demo of another one.

Spiderman 2 Raimi movie is still the best superhero movie ever made. The sit-comish bits in the bugle alone beat every other superhero movie.

The Marvel's Spider-Man games are clearly a better version of The Amazing Spider-Man 1, but I remember really loving that game a number of years ago. I should really replay it. I do agree that the web swinging is pretty easy; in fact, I'd even say it's almost automated, which is also an issue that I have with the Marvel's Spider-Man games, as much as I love them. It just doesn't require much skill to webswing, in comparison to say Ultimate Spider-Man, and especially Spider-Man 2 the Movie game.

Spider-Man (2000) and the movie game (2002) were both fun games for their time. Believe it or not, those were essentially the definitive Spider-Man experiences before Spider-Man 2 in 2004. The first movie game had a lot of fun cheat codes to mess around with.

I’m glad for this honest opinion. The amount of people who say Web of Shadows is better than Spiderman 2 insane. You have to be actually insane to think early 2000s games are better than this most recent installment. Heck, the graphics alone put it above all of those games.

Saying spider-man web of shadows had only "decent combat" is an insane disservice to the mechanics and the freedom it provides with its combo potential. Just fking around with the web strike and transition it provides from any form of combat, has more mechanical depth that anything Insomniac's spider-man provides. No offence but this was a pretty run of the mill "safe" spider-man game ranking list. I am not trying to invalidate you, but I can't be too sure about how much of this list consisted of your own opinion, rather than just blatant pandering.

Hamtaro Really good video! I hope they get rid of the MJ missions and the mini games in the 3rd game. Instead they need to focus more on the Spidey gameplay. Although I like all of their games I can't pretend like there is not room for innovation and improvement. The stealth has huge unused potential and we need more variety and freedom with combat and traversal mechanics. Just some of my general opinions.

My top 3 Spider-Man games: 1. Spider-Man 2 (2004) 2. Ultimate Spider-Man 3. Web of Shadows Number 3 was a very tough choice for me, I almost put Shattered Dimensions at 3rd. After i would have Marvel's Spider-Man (2018) and Spider-Man (2002). I finished the new Spider-Man 2 that just came out like 2 weeks ago (got platinum for it). There were some things i liked but a lot of things i definitely disliked. Like playing more as mj then venom, peters character being a total bitch lol, the pacing of the story being all over the place, basically copying web of shadows towards the end and doing it worse, enemies felt way too repetitive towards the end, mj taking down these highly trained killers with a stun gun or whatever it is and especially having her own boss fight 💀 cmon bro...and a lot more. I still very much dislike how easy the web swinging is but i changed it immediately when i found out the added a web swing assistance setting. Set it all the way down to 0 and it definitely felt better but not the greatest. Also, can't forget about gay side mission and the deaf side mission .. i think we can all agree we play Spider-Man games to play as SPIDER-MAN. (Btw ik i didn't have to play those missions but i always go for platinum so i had no choice).

My only problem with insomniac Spider-Man is that it’s sooooooooo fuckiinngggg eassssuyyy it’s completely ridiculous doesn’t matter the difficulty just a completer joke, that alone keeps it out of the top spot

ngl the issue with me is that the formula is usually a "improve upon what's already established" thing but imo as far as the "side missions" go (just the "collect-athon" ones: backpacks, time capsules, and the sand crystal memory things) they should've just nixed that ALTOGETHER. it should've been swapped out for a COMPLETELY NEW ACTIVITY in each game. i think the story could've been improved upon by making better use of the "sand being everywhere" in the beginning of the game like it could've been a crazy plot twist where the sand is still all over the place because they're in a false NewYork and Sandman is literally EVERYBODY. that would've had me on the edge of my seat for the remainder of the game with that single revelation. So much MORE LOVE could've went into it but it's still cool 🤷‍♂️

Having almost 100% Spider-Man 2 and now just finishing up a second playthrough of 2018, I personally think the original is significantly better. The sequel may have improved some things but it's such a downgrade imo in overall tightness of design, narrative, and even combat. It mostly just bloats the original design instead of improving on it. Though it's definitely interesting hearing an opinion from someone who actually worked on some of the games. Probably has a strong effect on your opinion.

Stealth in Spiderman 2 2023 is pretty bad. They removed a lot of fun gadgets from the 2018 game, yeah there are zip lines which improve mobility, but stealth is too simple: get on top of someone and press square, or if it safe triangle. Most of the times you can’t even crawl on the ceiling and drop enemies from there, which you could do consistently even in The Amazing Spiderman 1 game! Cmon now Overall, the gameplay is better in Spiderman 2 2023, but the 2018 game story and stealth clears it to me. Also, the PS2 Spiderman 2 from 2004 still is the only Spiderman game that has web swinging purely based on physics, while even the PS5 counterparts has a mix of animations and physics based swinging, even with steering assistance turned all the way down to 0. Yeah, the PS5 Spiderman 2 have better animations, move sets, speed, and it looks way better. But it’s easier to master because it’s not based on physics only: the webs have no hitbox, no physical properties, for example if you turn around a building while swinging on one web, if you look at the web you will see that it will get through the building and anything on its way really. In the 2004 PS2 game, the web will wrap around the building and objects exactly like it would in real life, and it will shorten in the process. And it’s 20 years older! That’s just one example of how physics based swinging work in that game. Obviously, the PS5 swinging still is very very good, but if you master the Ps2 swinging, it will be so satisfying ‘cause it’s actually challenging.

Man, 2 is overrated, best game? Not even as good as 2018. Yes, it is more fluid but the story felt rushed and predictable, they made peter look like a wimp and mary jane the hero, the game is cringe, SM 2018 is a much better game overall, actual time taken to develop the story and characters, even the world activities had more variety. SM2 simplified everything to make it even more repetitive. i'd say the insomniac SM games are SM2018>Miles>SM2
