Good guesses. But i would have done some changes. Iran is still one of the favourites because of players like Azmoun and Taremi. I think Australia should be changed with them. You mentioned about Harry Soutter but he has been sitting on the bench this season played only one match. So they are not so strong. Also I would change Uzbekistan and UAE. Uzbekistan has some quality players besides Shomurodov too. There are Khusanov who is playing in League 1 and debuted in Chamions league. Also Fayzullayev one of the talents in Russa. Shukurov, Masharipov, etc. They all play in Europe unline UAE players. Also Katanec the coach of Uzbekistan team have been working there for 3 years.

Personally I’d ranked only Japan and South Korea as favourites. Australia and Iran as contenders. Iraq, Saudi, UAE, Qatar and Uzbekistan as dark horses.

Oman is worth a dark horse but yeah Oman's current situation is not good. Their 2026 WCQ didn't start as expected, especially regarding the shock loss to Kyrgyzstan, the opponent they are again going to meet in the same Asian Cup. Given this, Oman is an unstable team and while they are certain to move beyond the group stage, this promises to be fatal. Malaysia must prove why they returned to the tournament. They are naturalising a lot of non-Malaysians, but this gave a question about just how serious this team is. There is nothing much for India sadly. I hope that India can at least advance to the round of sixteen because winning it is impossible. Bahrain is now under the new coach Pizzi (who failed to guide Chile to the 2018 World Cup), so it is questionable. The reason: Juan Pizzi isn't a very capable coach, he can only inherit but he can't do anything new. If Bahrain can advance, then yes. But can they move further like in 2004? No. China is somewhere between a dark horse or just one more. They are just entering a new era where football management is being re-examined again. Xi Jinping can't give up his football hope however, so we may see some changes in the future for the Chinese. China is currently having promising young talents, though, but to live up or not remains to be seen. Indonesia has always been a passionate football country but Indonesian football is so poorly managed. There are hopes for them to advance but the way they performed in the 2026 WCQ is worth worrying, especially the fact that they got humbled by Iraq and failed to gain a win in the Philippines. Iraq is hardly a contender, though being a dark horse is likely. Iraq has failed to capitalise from their 2007 Asian Cup success and Iraqi football management is horrific. Yet Iraqis have insane football love so pretty much it can make the difference. Thailand has the correct rating of yours. Thailand always has talents but they seem unable to progress further. Uzbekistan is a true dark horse. They can be a threatening team with the new crop of players they have. Hong Kong is unfortunate but yes it is right. Iran is surely a contender but their semi-finals quagmire since 1976 is something Iran need to overcome first. Jordan is a fascinating dark horse rather than being just one more. It is a team that know how to harass big teams, but, there is a thing: they have not won a knockout game, so it is also correct to feel like they miss something. Kyrgyzstan isn't exactly going to vibe. It's not a strong team but it can be threatening. It has proven how stubborn can be in the 2026 WCQ, with a historic home shock win over Oman. This is not an easy opponent to underestimate. Japan is the true gigachad in this standing. Lebanon is going to experience another miserable campaign unless they have some serious improvements. Palestine is for vibe only. Yes they can beat Hong Kong but not sure how can they do against Iran and the UAE. Qatar has proven that their 2019 Asian Cup success didn't follow with a successful World Cup display, so Qatar is worth worrying. Even as the hosts, Qatar's chance to advance again to the final is very, very questionable. Saudi Arabia isn't entirely just a contender. If they go to form, they can join Japan as favourites. It's not an easy foe even most Saudis don't play abroad. South Korea is another gigachad, but unlike Japan, I feel South Korea missing something. Maybe due to their overreliance on individual stars? They haven't won since 1960. Syria is either one another step of just going for fun. Syria has always failed to maximise their talents and this has earned them the infamous nickname "Asia's Scotland" (Scotland has also never advanced past the group stages of any big tournament). Given this, I wonder how can Syria perform or they are going to fulfil themselves as Scotland again. Tajikistan is hardly among one more, although I think they will come agonisingly close to achieve it. Vietnam is fascinating in the way how it defied logic. Vietnam has been drawn in extremely miserable Asian Cup groups with either no.1 AFC team or Asian champions in 2007 (Japan) and 2019 (Iran), in addition to other bad lucks (drawing with Asian Games and Gulf champions Qatar and the UAE in 2007 or former champions Iraq in 2019)... and they still managed to survive these groups rather than being eliminated. Vietnam's unpredictability could result in this team becoming a dangerous dark-horse. Australia isn't even among the genuine favourites. They are, at best, among the contenders. They are capable at winning, but they need to prove their worth and hope that they don't meet Japan again. UAE will be a dark horse. It's a team with unpredictable reputation and can be a challenger. But winning it seems... too distant.
