Congrats on 1k! I agree with your list mostly, in general I personally love seeing the last film in a series which means I tend to rank those a bit higher and would rank Goblet of Fire lower. For all the reasons you listed in the video as well as all the buildup of Quiddich in the books and movies, having it cut away right before the match begins was terrible.

I saw one of your vids like a week ago after my girlfriend and I randomly decided to do a full series rewatch (which we hadn't done since we were young), and I kinda just assumed you were a well-established KZfaqr who had been making vids like this for years Anyway, keep up the great work man. Interesting ranking. My personal list from worst to best is 8 - dh1 - my biggest gripe isn't the slow pace but the fact it's all setup and no payoff. I know it's personal but I've never really loved the part 1, part 2 thing (with a few exceptions like lotr and dune) because you don't feel like you get a full conclusion. It's fine with dh2 in mind as it's payoff but in general I've never found the story of dh to be one of the better ones as it's my least favourite book in the series 7 - hbp - completely agree with your points of too much romance. Also not a big fan of the colour palette and how warm and blurred it looks as it takes me out of the film 6 - dh2 - I find this all payoff with no setup and parts just feel like generic action films with wands functioning as guns and if I want generic action then I'll watch James bond ( not a slight on James bond as it's unirronically my favourite franchise) because action isn't what I read and watch hp for 5 - ootp - my biggest issue is just how much it cuts from the book. It's my favourite book in the series and so there isn't much if anything I'd cut and so I just felt so dissatisfied watching it. Also I know I said I don't read/watch harry potter for action but I love the battle of the department of mysteries in the book and was so disappointed with how watered down it is in film. 4 - gof - I know it's panned by fans but I just find it so enjoyable to rewatch. It's disappointing what's missing but what we have is still really entertaining. If it had the full world cup and the characters then it might be top but I still love it as it is 3 - poa - my biggest issue is how stylised the film is. It just feels like such a tonal disconnect from the rest of the series so it doesn't feel like potter in some ways combined with the blatant disregard for the world (harry using lumos at the dursleys) but I still love the story and it does downplay my least favourite aspect of the book which was the forced tension between the trio. Know it sounds like I'm bashing it but I genuinely still love the film 2 - cos - such a good translation from the book. Chris colombus is my favourite harry potter director as he was best able to capture the magic and feel of the series. Rewatched both his hp films so many times. Just find chamber a bit weaker 1 - ps - easily my most watched film ever and in my top 5 all time films ( along with no time to die, on her majesty's secret service, dune part 2 and fellowship of the ring). Absolutely love the feel of the world and love the characters and story

About Chamber of Secrets, I think it's solid. I absolute love it. But I still have one pet peeve. There's this giant snake roaming around. A snake that I think was said to be about 20 meters in length (I don't remember exactly take that with a grain of salt) and not one single person ever saw it? How? Some of the victims were not exactly discovered in inconspicuous places. Hermione and Penelope Clearwater were hit right outside the Library for goodness sake. Even if nobody knew exactly what it was how did this giant monster roam around completely undetected? I just feel like "pipes" isn't a good enough explanation because it still doesn't make sense. Most of the victims weren't found anywhere near where pipes would be.

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Even though it’s not dead last, so glad to see someone who acknowledges DH2 as one of the worst movies in the franchise, let alone one of the worst made movies ever made. There is hope for our species after all after! :-)

Granted it might all be subjective but Prisoner of Azkaban whether it be the book or the movie was not necessarily one of my favorites however I don't think any of the books or movies were bad but I think that part of it might simply because the focus was taken off of Voldemort and it kind of caught me off gaurd a bit and even though Sirius was a bit of a cool character and even though killing him off didn't really ruin anything for me by any means and I do feel like killing off Sirius still worked fairly well but felt like a little bit of a downer for Sirius to suddenly and quickly show up as a prominent character out of nowhere only to have him suddenly get killed abruptly and out of nowhere especially after the characters went through so much of the trouble to save him.When it comes to Prisoner of Azkaban having a pretty distinct tone compared to alot of the other movies and books in the series I would agree.

Half blood last??? Bro… in fairness , all the movies are like 10/10 so it’s all subjective

I'm a Harry Potter stan and I have to say, I enjoy all films...all except HPB. That movie just brings me no joy when watching it. There are so many things that are done wrong. Harry and Ginny's relationship? Tragic. Voldemort's backstory? Reduced significantly, they showed like 2 memories out of 7. The half blood prince mystery? Basically non-existent, the book barely gets mentioned after its introduction. The Draco plotline could've also been done better. The attack on the burrow? The most stupid scene ever that's thrown in there just for an action sequence. If you are going for a romcom version of this book, which is a terrible idea to being with, at least do it right. But they couldn't even get the relationship stuff right. This whole film reads as pointless to me. I always skip it when I do a HP rewatch cause I just can't stand it. I love all HP films, even the ones that aren't great adaptions because I still love them as separate movies and find them very entertaining. This movie however makes my blood boil. I only watch the cave scene and Dumbledore's death, that's it.

Half-Blood Prince book is 10/10. Movie version is the worst. I was so disappointed when I watch it in the cinema. 1/3 of the book is missing.

I love the first two, they have a warmth and charm no HP movie since have managed to recreate. I also appreciate how book accurate they were. I also love the third, despite a lack of respect for Rowling's rules (wandless magic, underage use of magic outside of school etc.), but it's so wonderfully atmospheric and visually stunning to look at. We also got Gary Oldman and the last John Williams score. The fourth movie is very entertaining, but a bad adaption of the book. The fifth book is my favorite, and the movie adaption didn't even come close to me. I don't like Yates' direction in general; everything just happens super awkwardly. Battle at the end was awesome, though. Sixth was a bad adaption for all the reasons you mentioned, as well as the added stuff, and the changed stuff. Why change everything about Harry & Ginny if you're just going to make it hella awkward? The last two: again, awkward because of direction. Part 1 was pretty faithful to the book, so that's the redeeming quality here, however the 7th book was the weakest one in my opinion. I hated absolutely everything about the battle of Hogwarts. The jumping from a building with Voldemort while pulling at each other's faces thingy, Voldemort using his cape to bind Harry instead of just trying to off him effectively, no one seeing Harry's battle, Harry and Voldemort not having a dialogue before the duel, Voldemort just turning into dust... I could go on. All in all, the first movies were best, both in terms of being adaptions and as standalone movies. :-)

I actually think your being generous with the chamber of secrets the way that every person that got petrified survived, the fact that the phoenix can cure one of the most deadly venoms in there universe and that the same fang that stabbed him falls out the mouth and happens to be able to destroy a horcrux, still love it but such a stretch 😂

Chamber of the Secrets and Order of the Phoenix are the worst ones to me

As someone who hasn't read the books yet (I'm planning to), here is my none book influenced opinion: 8. Goblet of Fire- The pacing was off, didn't really feel like the past 3 films, and was just really boring till the end. 7. Scorcers Stone- It was a good introduction, but it just feels bland on rewatch 6. Order of the Phonix- Nothing wrong with it, just felt like a filler episode for most of it. 5. Half-blood Prince- I loved this film, it was just annoying how they never dealt with the Half-Blood prince stuff, y'know, the literal title of the film 4. Deadly Hallows Part 1- I don't remember much, but I do remember that 10/10 opening. 3. Prisoner of Azkaban- I really liked the tone shift and it was a huge plot twist that Ron's rat was actually some weirdo. 2. Deadly Hallows Part 2- "Dead." -Narcissa Malfoy 1. Chamber of Secrets- Idk, I just liked it

No bad HP movie? Ignoring it as an adaptation, Goblet of Fire is just a bad movie. The pacing is inconsistent, the tone is all over the place, and the colour palette is so muted it’s just unpleasant to look at. The plot also makes no sense if you haven’t already read the books and your brain can fill in the gaps. Try watching it with someone who’s never seen it or read the books; you’ll constantly have to explain what’s happening and why, because the movie just doesn’t.

It's ironic, because I will give all the props to Steve Kloves for the great work he did on most of these films. But it's somewhat telling that the best adaptation from book to film is Order of the Phoenix, the only one he didn't write. You're totally right, it's a perfectly streamlined and focused version of its book counterpart. Yes it still changes a few things that could have been better here and there, but as a MOVIE it is an excellent example of how you do it. That's not to say it's at the top of my list, but I have mad respect for it and think it's underrated.

The order of the phoenix was a really depressing film and one of the worst film in my opinion. But do agree with your top pick

all the movies have their awesome moments for sure but the only one I think is weak is deathly hallows part 1, the beginning and ending were great but the middle of it felt like it dragged tbh and was bored most of the time, like i said it does have great moments but the weakest of the franchise for me. Though part 2 was fantastic from star to finish.

Here is my ranking: 8th: Goblet of Fire - it’s just a bad movie, way worse than all the others in the series, 4.5 out of 10 7th: Order of the Phoenix - much better than Goblet, but still not a film I watch often, 6.3 out of 10 6th: Deathly Hallows Part 1 - decent film without the classic vibe, 6.9 out of 10 5th: Deathly Hallows Part 2 - great ending, but not the most re-watchable movie, 7.2 out of 10 4th: Chamber of Secrets - great movie with good balance, 7.8 out of 10 3rd: Half Blood Prince - one of my favourites, 8.2 out of 10 2nd: Philosopher’s Stone - perfect introduction, infinitely re-watchable - 8.8 out of 10 1st: Prisoner of Azkaban - as close to perfection as it can get, 9.5 out of 10

I really hate how dark the half blood prince looks too, i know the story gets really dark itself in terms of the plot and that, but the film looks so gloomy and boring.
