One piece Pirate warriors 1 and 4 have the best story mode,1 Also has good Gameplay variety like the quick time events and platform elements that use Luffy powers. Boss Battles in One piece Pirate warriors 3 suck but the ones of Pirate warriors 1 are still the best due to how accurate they are with the anime and manga(like hitting crocodile with water to hit him).

3 is just overall better. If you get mods to play as npc's, the game is completely better than 4

I'm playing 4 (the edition with all the DLC and what not was in offer the other day for the Switch) and so far I'm having fun with it but as a fan of the manga I'm kind of dissapointed with how much of the story it's skipping (no East Blue, no Sky Island, no Thriller Bark or Impel Down and now it's gone from Shabaody straight to Dressrosa). I'm specially disappointed because I think they've left out a lot of fan favourite characters (like Enel or Perona). Does Pirate Warriors 3 have the same problem? Because if it does a better job going through the arcs I may buy it eventually.

@@tximinoman As someone who had zero Idea about the Thriller Bark arc. I fully believe that I got quite the foot notes playing Pirate Warriors 3. That I will fully recommend it over 4 for that vary resin. Not to mention in PW3 you get to play as both Enel and Perona. The latter would have made a grate tech type in PW4. If your going to get PW3, I would wait for other deluxe edition sale.

@nomight273 My guy, your recency bias is showing, and you literally have no clue what you're talking about. PW4 is newer, and that doesn't make it better. It pales compared to PW3. PW4 is actively janky to control and play, and the rushed development also shows. They threw away a ton of solid perfected systems and forced new clunky ones in their place. Oh, and by the way, I've Platinumed both games and have at least 100 hours in both games, I do know what I'm talking about. You can like PW4 more, but you're wrong that it's a better game.

Your bias is also showing, also, you being able to cancel your combos into new combos for you to destroy even more your enemies isn't "clunky controls", it is combo cancel and it exists in pretty much a lot of fighting games, take that with the specials you can change a long with dash cancel and jump cancel and you can literally destroy your enemies and feel like you have mastery over your character. OPPW4 have way better gameplay and tight controls than OPPW3. No i am not being biased because i actually prefer OPPW3 roster, visuals, soundtrack, and pretty much everything else, also the intro is stuck in my head since the release of this blessed game. BUT, i really liked the structure of actually choosing some arcs and going more in depth in them than OPPW3 rushed story. Yes i miss some characters, but seriously, i have never played a Warriors game that have a combo system as tight and open for creativity as OPPW4. It really is some good stuff. I have favorite things every one of the games, like OPPW1 Story and Visuals, OPPW2 "What ifs" weird cutscenes that you had in that other mode i don't remember the name lol. And pretty much everything in OPPW3, like the visuals, the hud, EVERYTHING. I thought it would be the pinnacle of OPPW until i got to try the Gameplay of OPPW4, and because i really value Gameplay that just took the game to Another Level.

@bk_3775 You sure did type a lot to say absolutely nothing of worth. And yes, you're being biased in that comment as well as condescending. PW4 is a fine musou game, I enjoyed it, I even 100% it. But it's not a better game with tighter controls or combat. It's a mostly rushed game with a lot of flawed new mechanics shoehorned in to make it feel new, but they tried to fix what wasn't broken. You can dash cancel in Pw2 and Pw3 as well. In fact, it's even easier and feels better because you don't go flying off, and there is no stamina. The jumping is a mess, and as a mechanic activity, it made the game worse off for its inclusion, which amounted to nothing good. I will give you that the way it handled special moves/modes was pretty good, but I wouldn't say better, just different. Regardless implying that Pw4 actually feels better or is at all a tighter game is just incorrect. Personally, though, I do not care about the story portion of any of these games since I read the manga, I don't need or care about a recap. Pw2 is the exception, I guess, but I still mostly cared about the combat and mechanics in that as well. So I don't think it holds much weight in regards to which game is better. Gameplay > everything else.

@@harlock1550 You can't "Dash Cancel" OPPW3 or OPPW2, the term literally does not match, you can dash mid combo to reposition or to delay attacks but you cannot string combo to special with dash cancel like OPPW4, or combo to combo, or combo to air to combo to special, or literally anything like that. I don't know why people call it Dash Cancel, but it literally does not work like Dash Cancel in any other game. Also you cannot use level 2 or 3 special without stopping to charge it, you cannot string specials. There is so much limitations with the other games. I also do not get the "fly away" when you dash, you can literally Dash the distance you want by holding it or just tapping. I wasn't being condecending, i said that you also were being biased, because you were, and still are. As i said i personally prefer OPPW4 because i value Gameplay over Story in games. But anything else i prefer OPPW3. You can comment what you think, but when you were complaining about the combat it really sounded that you were disingenuous, or just straight up not knowing how to combat even thought you did 100%. In OPPW4 you can literally choose your specials with the thought of stringing combos even more, you can plan it to do in the ground or in the air. The stamina also isn't bad, of course with a Dash Cancel as strong as it is you need to have something to hold yourself, as this also makes you plan how you do it efficiently. And i'm not even talking about how you can press jump mid combo to throw the opponent in the air, but you can just press it to cancel your combo with another special that can reach up (Really good with Usopp.) Yes i like the Kizuna Rush, and i miss the other Strawhats pre time skip version, i miss some characters like Perona, i miss the iconic first Stage of OPPW3, Baratie, I actually liked the gimmick of Thriller Bark, the Fisherman Stage, and i think the Extras were much better. And as i said overall OPPW3 feels more like an "Definitive Version" of Pirate Warriors than OPPW4, BUT, as i said, OPPW4 combat stomps OPPW3, and even though it had the Kizuna Rush, the Specials or the Strong Attacks actually being useful, or some Assists being cool to combo into specials, OPPW3 never lets you feel the mastery that you feel after getting hold of the Specials, combos and Aerial combos of any character in OPPW4. Some characters that felt like garbage in OPPW3 can actually be good because you can string combos, cancel, combo some more, throw them in the air and actually use the distance in your favor. I am just answering all this, because your points on things that were ruined gameplay wise just seem that it looks that you are trying to play OPPW4 like OPPW3, and if you played any of them you know that they mostly play different than each other. Of course you can like whatever you want, just don't be unfair, that's dumb dumb stuff. :P Have a good day, and i'm sorry i sounded disingenuous, like seriously. Tbh, it's not like they can just reuse the code for those characters in PW4 because it's running in a different engine. But I do agree about what you said because I felt like they kinda just trying to pick all the recent characters

Pirate Warriors 3 is what GOT me into One Piece lol. I just wanted a cheap musou game and ended up liking the story and characters enough to FINALLY watch it.

I read EVERY comment. I have actually not played Gundam 2. I have played Gundam 1 and 3, I quite like Gundam 3! I was hoping to getting around to 2 sooner than later and doing a ranking on all the DW Gundam games

No oppw3 has a smother gameplay because u dont have to fight fast like flash in oppw3 u had time to do combat moves
