I'm not scared of anyone and I am extremely introverted. It's just way too much hassle and energy expense for the sort of reward I don't really desire. I barely want to talk to the people I know well, much less complete strangers. At best there will be confusion because I'm socially weird, and at worst I will inadvertently insult the other person somethow. Nah. Not worth the hassle.

Professional baker here. As I was taught, the difference between a crepe and a galette is that crepes usually have a sweet filling (though Americans like to put savoury in it and call it a crepe, crepes usually come with powdered sugar on top, or they're filled with ingredients like caramel, chocolate, and fruit, making them a classic French dessert.) and galettes are savoury and they can come with a small hole in the middle where there's a fried egg over melted cheese. Classic versions have ham and cheese. Yes, galettes are usually made with buckwheat flour, (but not always) but that's because they have savoury fillings. The buckwheat gives it a dark, nutty flavour that pairs well with meat and cheese. But that's just what I was taught and these days, culinary rules are just a suggestion. :)

You're right! The word galette is used to differentiate savory buckwheat "crepes" and sweet ones. It can refer to the buckwheat element exclusively though, depending on the context. If I say (in french): "I'll have a banana and nutella Galette", the waiter/waitress will understand that I'm asking for a Buckwheat "crepe". Relatively rare occurence, but possible.

They’re made with savoury toppings because the buckwheat is a stronger flavour, it’s not the other way around. A traditional one is always made with buckwheat and only variants aren’t. This is the actual difference between the 2. Your instructor needlessly complicated things and outright gave you incorrect information in some parts. Culinary rules in French cooking are rules. They’re very strict about that. Baking in general is more of a science than a random recipe, as a professional baker, you should know that winging it in a baking recipe, doesn’t work.

I have to stand up for Teppan Edo. We have a very large family and we booked lunch here in the middle of a hot day at Epcot. We had an entire table all to ourselves and my kids loved the food!!! Japanese food and sushi is always their favorite food to eat anywhere. They also really enjoyed the show! It was such an enjoyable break in our day and we all left super full! We didn’t need to eat the rest of the day. My kids still talk about it fondly. It was one of their favorite Disney experiences. 😊

When I was there (also with a big group of relatives) our waitress sang in the middle of her performance/cooking! Being japanese, her English was a bit hard to understand, but she had such a beautiful voice. And it was such an unexpected surprise. She was making a snowman out of rice and suddenly started singing “do you want to build a snowman?” So cute, and you’d only see that in a Disney restaurant😊

I have had only two meals that failed to meet my expectations. 1) Le Cellier Restaurant - the service was poor (rude) and the food (I had a steak) was not prepared properly - over cooked. I did like the cheese soup. 2) Coral Reef - the service was rushed and the food was just okay. I accept that my experience at Le Cellier may have been a one-off, but I just can't go back again, which makes more room for everyone else. For the most part - the other places we have eaten live up to expectation. Great video as always.

We had the same poor experience at Le Cellier. The steak was cooked at right temp (MedRare) but somehow it was dry and flavorless. This was sson after they reopened from Covid and I guessed that the steaks were old, frozen?? For the price I just can't see us ever returning.

Disney prices are pretty comparable with larger cities in the Uk’s regular food prices. For me it’s the time in the restaurant that would matter more. Some of the ones you spend ages in, I’d prefer to be in a hotel or springs. 🤷‍♀️😅

In my opinion, Takumi-Tei is the single best restaurant in all of WDW, let alone Epcot. The food, the service, and ambiance are all top notch. And while the price is high, it is fair for the caliber of the experience. Though I completely understand that the price, the duration, the adults only policy, and/or the relatively adventurous menu could well disqualify it for many visitors. If you love Japanese food and/or fine dining, and can afford to spend $250 and 4 hours of an Epcot visit on a meal, do not miss this experience!
@kirstybrown1185
@kirstybrown1185 11 күн бұрын
Your description of it just put it last place. That’s so long. That would be a great experience if I didn’t pay so much to be in a park. I don’t see that being your intention but I’m so shocked at the concept existing where it does. I’m baffled at why anyone would do that, there. Anywhere else, yeah, even Disney springs it would make more sense. 🤭
@ScottAtwood
@ScottAtwood 9 күн бұрын
@@kirstybrown1185 I definitely would not recommend Takumi-Tei for people who are squeezed for time or money during their visit to WDW. I realize that describes many, if not most Epcot visitors, and I completely understand why most people would (and frankly, probably should) skip Takumi-Tei. That being said, speaking as a fan of Japanese culture and cuisine, who lives in Japantown San Jose, lived in Tokyo, and has visited Japan frequently, the quality of Japanese fine dining at Takumi-Tei is virtually impossible to find outside Japan. For for me, I have happily returned to Takumi-Tei multiple times, as it is cheaper and less time consuming than a trip to Japan!

I love Garden Grill, too and we had a delicious meal there and the characters were great. However, my hubby and I must be getting a bit old because when we left, we felt a little like we had just stepped off a boat. I think- as crazy as this sounds- we were a little off from the movement of the restaurant. Granted- it barely spins, but we both felt a little funny afterward. However, if you're not wacky like us- you'll love it. We also enjoyed riding the "Living with the Land" ride to see where the food came from. Looking forward to trying other recommendations on this list soon when we travel with a big group that includes kiddos and grandparents. Thanks for the tips!

It's a bit disappointing that some of the restaurants you said have good food are ranked lower than ones you said have "ok" food due to other factors. I realize that other factors can effect enjoyment at a restaurant, but the food being good should always be the top factor imo.

Not if you’re spending a lot of money to waste park hours it shouldn’t. Price and time spent in the restaurant after you’ve paid for tickets are equally important when Disney springs and the resorts have such amazing options.

My family came to visit over Christmas (I’m a cast member) and we went to Le Cellier for that nice “splurge” dinner. The parks were insanely busy in December so the wait for our table and food, much like the wait for everything else in the parks, was on the longer side. However… oh my goodness gracious, was the meal worth the wait. Everything from the bread and appetizers to the wine was delicious, and the steak was some of the best we’ve ever had. And it’s true, the staff really are as wonderful as you would expect the staff at a fine Canadian restaurant to be. The only negative (aside from the wait) was that we didn’t leave room for dessert and had to pass on the maple crème brulee😂 all in all, I’m thrilled to see it at the top of the list. 10/10 would recommend!

viewer opinion - I've been hitting up Disney a couple times a year for the last 16 years. My favorite sit down in Epcot. Any sit down eats up a good amount of time, the service isn't fast in any, I think they assume you're there for a break and they let you have a leisurely meal SO if speed and park time vs food time is important to you, maybe opt for quicker service. Lines can get pretty long there, so it's not always "quick". None the less, favorite sit downs ... Via Napoli in Italy. It is the best pizza in Disney World. It's not cheap, not sit downs are but the pizza is delish, you can customize with toppings for all and you can't beat ceasar salad and a couple wood fired slices if you ask me. Chefs de France. One of my favorite Epcot meals is their French onion soup and a salad. Yep, you can turn this soup into a meal. So good. Aside from that I'm actually not crazy about the menu. Soup for the win. And I agree with AJ 150%, Garden Grill. Way better character meal than Askershus (my opinion). The spinning restaurant is cool, the meal is super family friendly and family style so food comes to your table pretty quickly. No waiting for entrees to be cooked to order. If you're starving you don't have to wait too long. And you get to meet the characters multiple times. Lots of photo opportunities. AND Living with the Land for dessert. It's a winning combo. Favorite quick service. Sunshine Seasons for lunch. Air conditioned, lots of options, lots of seating, cafeteria style so very little wait to eat, and again a nice leisurely Living with the Land ride to let your food settle before getting on with your day. Yorkshire Fish and Chips, always tasty but a guilty pleasure, it's all fried. Le Halles in France. Everything is delish, you can go savory or sweet. They can get a pretty long line going and it's not one of those fast moving long lines. If it's out the door it's get patient, also very very limited tables. I'd say get it to go and walk to another pavilion to find some seating. Fun to try at least once category... Space 220. We'd been trying to snag a res for this place for a while. Mostly I just wanted to ride the space elevator, but ended up having a great time. They're very committed to the immersion of being in space which added to the fun. Food was tasty, the dining room is tiered so everyone gets a good view of the space windows. It was a fun environment to dedicate the extra sit down restaurant time to. I would totally go back. On the night I hit up Space 220 our group split and 3 went to Takumi-Tei. They were huge fans but also very into Japanese food and culture. It was my husband and 2 sons. My youngest was the most excited, 16 years old. Ate everything they brought him, was very respectful of Japanese dining traditions and took it as a huge learning experience. I don't think it would be for me, even after their rave reviews, but they had an amazing time. On My Wish List ... Biergarten. I've wanted to try this for a while, love the idea of entertainment while dining but the menu always feels a little heavy for a big walk around the park day. One day it will be perfect timing. The pizza window in Italy, I've seen pics of the thick slices from this window and they look so good. It's thin crust inside the restaurant. And Connections Cafe, again pizza. Stopped to grab slices for the little ones on a recent trip but the adults weren't hungry yet. Man did I want a bite. It smelled awesome and looked great. Definitely trying that for a quick lunch on a future trip. Enjoy all the eats.

Honestly, when we go to Epcot (usually when the food and wine festival is on) we don't really have a need to go to restaurants because the food booths, we set aside a specific budget for the festival and then we just go hit most of them, keeps us fed, it allow us to go to rides without feeling the need to puke, and doesn't feel like it takes away time from the park because the festival itself is an experience. But still good that there are options for restaurants.

@@Stale_Cupcakesa strategy I use at the festival is they have wristband gift cards their I put $100 on it or whatever budget you want and use it for the the booths . When I run out of money on. That card I stop haha.

It would be nice. However, if you turn on the transcript option (click on Show More under the video and scroll down to Transcript), you can skim down and read what's coming up and skip to that section by clicking on those words. It's a useful tip for cutting down on some of the fluff in these videos.

I have been to Coral Reef and ate the Rainbow Trout and it wasn’t seasoned or anything special. I would say the food was forgettable for seafood. I grew up in Massachusetts and Connecticut so us Northeast people are hard to impress when it comes to seafood.

i've gotten to eat at shiki sai, twice. it was the best food i've had in epcot. i would put it in the top 5 restaurants on property (and yes, that includes some of great restaurants at swan & dolphin). i would definitely not take kids there. le cellier is among the best restaurants on property - definitely the best steak on property. i was so surprised that it was better than yachtsman and shula's.

To be fair to Teppan Edo, we don't have that where I live, so it is on my wish list to try since I've always wanted to experience it. We decided to go wait to eat at the bar in Space 220 instead when we went. Maybe I'll head some place else in the US to try Benni Hanna, there's so many other things I want to try in Epcot like the Beergarten and actually eating in Space 220 before I get to it.

People like yourself who can’t access one, is why it will stay open. The concept is a great one. It’s just spending so much on something that’s uncomfortable for most, while also taking up time, after you’ve spent so much to be where you are in the first place will always be the wrong choice. She did say it was a hot take though.

LOL - when I saw the title of this video, I knew garden grill and me cellier would be in the top 10 but AJ just went for with the 1 & 2 spots. I love Le Cellier but I would never rank it #1. It’s a steak house. It’s good, great even, but I can have an equally good steak within ah hour drive of my home!

lotus blossom cafe was my favorite before covid. the best thing was the noodles with spicy Mongolian beef in a chinese carryout container. it was on the menu for years but that ended when covid started. it was delicious perfectly greasy noodles (in the best way) with spicy tender beef. of course, disney never brought them back... typical.... get rid of the one quick food every local loved!!! top 3 restaurants as a local imo - la hacienda de san angel (sit down on the water), les chefs de france (the french bistro), and le cellier steakhouse. fyi the fish and chips in england are the best on disney property and you pay half the price than say raglan in disney springs for the same portion size.

Your list is pretty accurate. We did find the food at Space 220 very good. Lotus Blossom Cafe is rightly at the bottom…but, it’s not bad. The thing about rankings is there will be a worst even if every restaurant isn’t bad. One of the true delights of EPCOT is the food.

You’ve hit the nail on the head that so many didn’t even see. They’re all great food. So you have to rank based on everything for everyone. Not just a random person on KZfaq who believes they have the most exquisite taste. 🤭 We choose to watch videos like these to give us ideas, not to completely set our minds.

I can’t you rated teppan edo so low and chefs de France so high. Teppan Edo is excellent food, fun and not every town has teppanyaki. This is a can’t miss for my family. Whereas Chefs de France took 3 hours! For food that was not great. Took an hour to get a drink. I would never go back there again. Very authentic French experience with the bad service included.

To me, Space 220 is worth experiencing once because of the immersive setting for sure. We went back in June 2022, and it was fun to experience. I’m not sure I’ll go back anytime soon because I would like to experience a different restaurant next time we go, but I say it’s worth doing to say you got to do it! The food was honestly good to me too, but it is still very expensive. I haven’t eaten at San Angel but have been in that area and it looks awesome, I would say do both restaurants! I want to eat here when we go in December. Enjoy your trip!
