My ranking always seems to change, but here's mine: 6. Gray Chapter: Pretty much the same points that was brought up in the video. Not bad, just not really interesting to me as the other albums. 5. AHIG: I'm one of those few who REALLY enjoy the album, sure it does look and sound kind of generic and flat, but I still enjoy it regardless. 4. Iowa: Yeah, I know, "Why is it so low??". Don't get me wrong, I will full-on acknowledge the album is the band at its arguable best, I love the album to bits as well, but all other options above just appeal to me even more. 3. S/T: Same exact thing applies here, first album I ever discovered and listened to. Still holds up as a masterpiece too. 2. WAYNK: Oh buddy this album is special, the direction they took just falls right into my musical taste exactly. Love every second of it. 1. Vol.3: This album is such a experimental masterpiece. Everything about it from the masks, sound, lyrics, everything. Can listen to it any day and enjoy it.

Nothing does it for me like the first 3 albums and I'm okay with that lol those where the eras when I was most invested in learning everything I could about them. I was obsessed.

Self Titled has got to be one of my favourite albums of all time, along with Ride The Lightning. I believe both of these had some sort of unrefined element to them - Self Titled has that raw, basement sound and RTL had a supposedly rushed production. Coincidentally, both those albums feature guitars that are slightly out of tune from Standard E and Drop B for whatever reason, and it's just another one of those things that I love about the sound on those albums.

DAMN....OUCH! AHIG is my favorite album (with Iowa damn near tied with it). Still, VERY cool you guys bumped into each other. I KNEW AJ was going to say Iowa at #2, because I know how much he loves Self Titled. I always talk about what a damn good man AJ is. Ray seems like he is just as beautiful of a human being, as well. No wonder you two guys get along so well. I am so glad I will be able to meet him, as well. Hopefully he has some band merch available.

Vol 3 is my favorite. The rhythm section with the guitars, drums and bass has never been better on a Slipknot album. They are completely locked in with each other all time in a sense I don't feel has come after or was before that. The creativity was just there. But on the flipside, Coreys vocals were terrible, the guitar soloes, the poppy singles and what not. I love the ballads though. Aesthetically it was the start of Slipknot not looking dangerous anymore. They look like they were on their way to a Halloween party with their crisp black suits and professionally made mask. Every group photo just has Clowns mask suck all the intimidation out of it.

Awesome video! Im totally in the minority that Vol.3 is my all time favorite record and era. I know why its not people favorite and I totally get that. I love the experimentation, aesthetic, videos and just the all around mythos and atmosphere in that time. If im being purely objective tho self titled is easily no 1 for sure.

Self titled is definitely number one for me, followed be Iowa, although it's pretty damn close. I'd say my list lines up with Aj's, for much of the same reasons. I saw Slipknot play in 2001, just before they released Iowa, and that's really the time period I love the most!

6: AHIG: I really don't like this album. The whole style and direction they tried to go just didn't work out but I do appreciate tracks like Psychosocial and Snuff 5: .5: I like how they did this album for Paul and it was a good way to introduce Jay and V-man. A lot of good tracks here but I don't like Killpop or Skeptic (pissed!) 4: WANYK: This and .5 are very close and their ratings flip from time to time, I love the experimental factor of this album and how it seems like the band is fully maturing into a "true" form 3: Vol 3: I know this album seems very commercial. But something about it hits different for me. Their change of style for this album still allowed them to show what defined Slipknot and I really like that. Three Nil, Vermillion, and The Viruses of Life gotta be some of my favorite tracks from the band. 2: Iowa: I love how dark this album gets. I think this album really shines on tracks like Skin Ticket and Everything Ends because it tells how much despair the band and Corey himself were feeling when writing the album. 1: Slipknot: Truly a masterpiece. This is where you can see all 9 members performing to perfection. This is the album that really defined Slipknot. This was the album I listened to when discovering them and it was beautiful to find such a band like this. They put all their rage and anguish from living in a place like Iowa into a sound and it's fucking incredible. I also gotta mention Corey's very first mask. Shit made him look like the embodiment of pent-up rage. Edit: I change my mind Iowa is actually the best metal album ever made god dammit
