Not having to breathe into the microphone makes me glad that I chose to play the remake of Bowsers inside story instead of the original

So glad the series is back with an original home console game after nine years of anxious uncertainty

To show how insane the hp of Princess Shroob is, the total health of each form, main body parts only, is 3000+3500+3000 = 9500. The next highest health of any story boss in the rest of the series is Dark Bowser + Dark Star Core (in the remake) at 1260 + 2070 = 3330. That means that Princess Shroob has nearly 3 times as much health as any other boss in the entire series. Even Bowser X, the highest health superboss in the series, has significantly less health at 7155 (5180 in the remake).

Dude I kept failing that final hit for the last part of the Giant Bowser fight so much the game eventually was like "Alright. We made the controls easier for you!" I then proceeded to easily take out Bowser lol

Very strange. I feel like Elder Princess Shroob and Cackletta's Soul should swap places on the list. I remember one of the main reasons PiT was my least favorite of the original three was how difficult it was, and the final boss was a thing of nightmares. Cackletta was only ever a challenge my first time, and now I can beat her without even healing. 🤷‍♂️

I think you were unfair to Partners in Time here, the game is only easy if you are good at those infinite bros attacks. And Cackletta's Soul is an absolute joke in a game that has Mush Badges

You forgot that the two Bowser have their own papercraft attack, if you attempt to use one of Paper Mario's papercraft attack before you broke the armor, he'll counter back and trigger *his* attack instead

Dreamy bowser heals up stupidly fast. Is easily the hardest boss fight in the series just because of the heal up you need obligatory both brother’s best tandem attack and lot of damage or the fight will last forever

interestingly when considering a low-level no equipment, Stache only on level up, no heals run(called nerve mode) for partners in time(no buying bros items, but you can farm mrs thwomp. surprisingly, PiT legit gives you with everything you need w/o needing to buy a bros item.) and Bowser's inside story(Jump and Hammer/Punch/Fire Breath only. no special attacks, Challenge medal always on.) alongside +1 level per area arc(so for PiT thats +2 levels an area cuz its always 2 bosses each area. for BIS, its +1 level corresponding to whose part it is. say its Bowser's part of story for example, he gets +1 level. if its the bros turn in the story, they get +1 level.) the hardest bosses are most deff(no particular order): 1. Elder Shrooboid. this's the first brick wall, as its spin to win attack is literally impossible to avoid if it takes more than 4 hammer counters, its too fast for hammer to ever work right. its rng incarnate but winnable. this's the 1st of the true near-completely unavoidable attacks in the series. 2. Elder Princess Shroob's 2nd phase's 3-leg sweep. that can actually go too fast to be jumped over, which causes a lot of resets. add on to that PiT's unique level scaling means, and I can confirm, level 23 is the exact sweet-spot minimum level you have to be at to win in such a challenge. Trust me I tried at level 19(the absolute minimum you'd be at) and can confirm it literally becomes a TAS once you beat Elder Princess Shroob's 1st phase. the 400 hp foot combined with the low damage you deal makes it not worth fighting past 1st phase at level 19. Legit the worst part is its a whole near 9k hp final boss Gauntlet of both the Princess Shroob Sisters. Die and you haveta do the long cutscenes+both battles over again 💀 3. Junker. becomes a Mario Solo in a nerve-mode run. you do not have the damage to free weegee but this is a good thing, Junker's actually saving the run cuz he gives you 1 less button to worry about by protecting Luigi. this's deff da most unique for the challenge via a late-game forced solo boss fight. 4. Dark Fawful, the only really tricky parts are the Vacuum helmet's Drag a bro attack cuz you only have 1-2 jumps to stop it. and Dark Fawful's Star Ray when his hp's dropped to half or lower. the Star Ray becomes pretty tricky cuz you have to memorize the pink star or die, or know the exact timing to deal w/the full-screen Star Ray w/an intentional gap to punch the Pink star. 5. Dark Star while normally easy cuz the game assumes you're using equips and stuff, actually is the hardest boss in the game by far. in fact I can confirm it is completely impossible to defeat Dark Star at level 22. the lowest level the bros would be at. there's several reasons. the 1st is that Dark Star outspeeds at level 22. because of that, when its made vulnerable, it will rise up on its turn immediately after the bros go during that cycle cuz its faster than them. the 2nd, the Dark Satellmites can heal it for over 120 hp by the 2nd-3rd cycle, much more than you deal even w/Excellent+POW badge(required). 3rd, the 4 color orb attack. if its "4 of the same color" and it specifically goes "Top to Bottom" you're screwed, as its near-impossible to avoid if you don't jump correctly by the 2nd orb. I found the reason for this is cuz Dark Star bats the 3rd and 4th orbs too fast to be jumped over. you jump the 3rd, but the 4th will always catch the bro right in their "hitbox" right as they jump. I can confirm this is true. I found and tested that this's most deff cuz its "Closer" to the screen as to why its not avoidable if you screw the 2nd jump up. Dark Star's deff the most aggressive boss in the game under such rules, in fact the only way you can actually beat it with such rules is at exactly level 35. at level 35 Mario, w/no speed upgrades(via level or equips), outspeeds it, so he gets 1 extra turn in its vulnerable cycle. combined with excellent+POW badge(this is required. I can confirm this.) this's legit the only way to beat the Dark Star. I think the most interesting aspect of Mario and Luigi is legit finding how some bosses that are normally easy due to bros items/bros attacks and other broken things, become actually more monstrously difficult when you take all of that away. these 5 bosses are most deff the most difficult I've found during these challenge runs. of course PiT requires Bros items, there's no exception there as its built around that. if you were to attempt such a challenge too, these specific bosses would deff flip your opinion around like it did for me. its hard but very worth 🤔 most surprisingly. Dark Bowser+Dark Star Core's actually legit the easiest outta alla these, like actually. their moveset's much more simple and a lot easier to avoid than Dark Fawful and Dark Star. it actually speaks volumes the final boss is easier than 2 of BIS's pen-ultimate bosses. but I'll deff give the final boss a few points for being a literal estimate of over 475k hp(in 1500 hp revives w/challenge medal) in a nerve mode challenge run. this's legit the most hp sponge of all bosses in the series, even more than Dark Fawful's combined 4k hp w/Challenge medal on. I can deff confirm Dream Team version of Nerve mode is technically impossible because of the Massiffs. in fact Heavy Zest and Beef Cloud, the 2 impossible ones, are only possible w/+1 Badge Stock for both bros at level 8(Shell rank) and 4 of the Master+Strike badge effects. Edit: I deff think Dream Team's nerve mode's very possible but brutally difficult, you just haveta choose the +1 badge at level 8. Currently at Dozing Sands Torkscrew Boss and lemme tell ya its a literal 656 hp wall, and is most deff the 1st major brick wall in Dream Team. all only cuz of its underground poke w/intentional delay, that gets you more than you think it does fr 💀

Dark Fawful in BIS having 1736 HP I actually feel enhances the character. From my perspective Fawful is a completely unhinged mad…actually, I still don’t know if Fawful is male or female, somehow. But that’s besides the point. Fawful is unhinged and almost completely lacks any sanity, with just enough to concoct evil plans. You can tell Fawful’s not normal at all. 1736 seems like a weird number, but by Fawful standards it’s perfectly normal. Also these bosses are often worse for me just because I avoid basically every unnecessary fight in the game, so I am very often massively underleveled by the time I make it to later bosses.

this list doesn't make much sense in my eyes. dark bowser and fawful are easily the easiest final boss of the series, the fight is over so quickly compared to the other final bosses and their attacks are not that hard to dodge. and cacklettas soul also dies pretty wuivkly in the original, however they buffed her SO HARD in the remake that it's truly the hardest story boss from any m&l game. and i don't see how zeekeeper is not here but fawful express is, fawful express is a joke when you actually know how to use the ds micro

When I played Dream Team for the first time I was really underlevelled at the end. The Antasma fight lasted way longer than it should but I still beat him first try because you get healed every turn. With Dreamy Bowser I really struggled to damage him more than he could heal. I also sucked at dodging his attacks. After losing about five times in a row I begrudgingly switched to easy mode and Bowser died in three attacks. Probably the most unsatisfying final boss fight I ever had.

8:20 Small correction: It's not really an entirely "new" mechanic, Paper Jam just started to make the "rage phases" visible to the player. All the predecessor's bosses also used to have stronger and longer attacks the lower their HP was.

I remember having to use Easy Mode, a lot of re-tries and badges and even then, I had a hard time defeating Dreamy Bowser.

Fun fact:when I first played BIS I almost gave up because of that GODDAMN FAWFUL TRAIN but it was so worth it when I finished the game. I just really hate fawful train

Dreamy Bowser can be cheesed with that one badge that freezes enemies in place no matter the circumstances. But without using it yea it is a tough boss.

I don't think Dark Bowser really belongs on this list. He felt easy for a final boss.

I don’t really find cakleta soul that hard after the initial attack and I pop max but to heal both dreamy bowser on the other hand without useing cheese like shields or easy mode took me 15 ATTEMPTS TO BEAT HIM and don’t even get me started on hard mode that’s just absolute hell

I will agree with you. Fawful express is the hardest in Bowser's Inside Story. If you make one mistake in this boss fight, you have to restart. I do have a useful tip when fighting the express. When you get half way to the giant hill dude, just keep using fire. It damages the Fawful Express a little bit. It just helps getting that extra damage on the train.

The thing about Princess shroob is that she isn’t low skill friendly at all, when she’s out of her chair mech, ussualy she will attack constantly until either a bros fall or you reflect somthing, i don’t think any other boss ever worked like this. She’s also immune to the ice flower’s debuffs.

7:28 I think it is a reference to past Paper Mario RPG Games that have Red, Green and White Magikoopas, with yes, the White one being the Healer. With the ability to make clones of themselves another ability that they have called Magikopy in TTYD but only if one is alone in battle.

I also find the giant chicken you have to defeat as giant luigi in dream team bros hard to beat especially with the gyro controls and especially when you do the giant boss marathon

Am I the only one that got traumatized by a giant bird boss in DT ? It’s like an dreamy giant bird (I forgot his name), and there’s a phase where giant Luigi is flying you have to dodge projectiles by moving your DS In the hardcore mode, the projectile one shots you almost literally anI it’s literally the hardest boss I’ve ever tried to beat just because of this one phase

The Heart of Cackletta’s Soul alone has 1200HP (Upgraded to 1260HP in the remake) You have to destroy both her hands and her head to reveal it and after 2 full turns it shrinks and can’t be attacked till the process is repeated. Furthermore, it can heal itself and the hand and head if they have been attacked but not destroyed. It can also boost the atk and def of them. Overall a very difficult boss that takes multiple tries, whether it’s the time stopping eye lasers or that god damn arm helicopter spin attack.

At first, i wondered about the easy-mode in DreamTeam, but i gotta admit this shit was helpful. Definitely my most favorite one of the saga

Thought No.1 was easy but that might be because I used the mush badge line and hope lots of mushrooms.

For me personally, having put probably multiple hundreds of hours into each game (except Paper Jam), I think every fight is relatively easy. However, even after hundreds of hours into it. Elder Princess Shroob is still the hardest fight by far. Having the highest health out of any boss in the entire series seriously shows. Then there's the insanity of the depth perception hell from her attacks. I still struggle with the UFO sacrifices. Even if you're god tier with Copy Flowers, its gonna be difficult to get her done in one cycle. Only other boss fight I think comes within a mile of difficulty is the Original Fawful Express. But that's due to terrible mic controls rather than actually being difficult.

I actually played through the whole series a while ago. I maxed my levels & stats with beans. It took a while but was really fun to one shot every boss

For me the hardest one is the final boss in Mario and Luigi partners in time. I didn't expect that it was gonna be the final boss in Mario and Luigi superstar saga.

Elder Princess shroob head has 3000HP, not 2000HP. And is easily harder than Dark Bowser + Fawful and Giant Paper Bowser. Deals crazy damage if unprepared and attacks get really hard to dodge once she’s at like 25% remaining HP

I love the M&L rpg series growing up and got the remakes when they released, I’m glad Nintendo didn’t forget about this series, I miss alpha dream making theses games and feel bad too, the remakes came out during the last years of the 3ds life cycle, if they made the switch to the switch they would probably still be around today.

I had to replay both Partners in Time and Superstar Saga to beat the final bosses cuz I was too under leveled and young when I first played. Though, for Superstar Saga I was actually stuck on Roy with the bomb and never got to the final boss until my second playthrough, and for Partners in Time I never got past the first phase of the final boss.

Good list but I personally would say elder princess shroob is harder than dark bowser/fawful.

I’ve never had trouble with Cackletta.. but maybe that’s cause i’ve replayed SS like 20 times or more, and remember that there are gears in the game that always let Mario/Luigi go first

I can’t be the only person here who doesn’t understand this list. I’ve played every single one of these games, some of them multiple times. As a kid I never beat the Shroob sisters and even when I beat the first one I couldn’t beat the second. I have no comprehension how they’re perceived at this easiest with those health pools. Also, I would argue superstar saga final boss is the easiest here.

SSS does not have the hardest Boss. This Boss is pretty easy to beat. Just don´t tell me he´s place 1 because of the fact that you are on 1HP at the beginning. Could you do another one of this Video, but with a Perspektiv, where M&L have the same stats for each Final + the same HP at the Beginning of each Phase...

thank god this series is finally back. Although I only played dream team I really wanted to get a new game on the switch as it’s my only Nintendo console other then the Wii ( my 3ds broke :( )
