The three that sprang to my mind when I saw the title: 1. Covington vs Leon (designed to serve the challenger) 2. Vera vs O'Malley (designed to serve the champion) 3. Stipe vs Jones (designed to ruin the entire sport) It's very damning that all three are very recent, says something about a decline in sporting standards and self-sabotaging cash-grab decision making. But hey, it could just be recency bias coz my memory sucks.

I feel the same way you do. I wasn't a fan during the Rampage Jackson days in the UFC, but to me at least it seems that they couldn't afford to do the money grabbing fights regularly because they would lose pay per view buys delivering a subpar fight in a paid card and now they are big enough that it can be done as often as they want really and people would keep watching due to the nature of the sport

We need a tier list of runs that lead into nothing (none of them got title shots before losing) ex: -tony at lightweight -beneil at lightweight -cory rn at bantamweight -giga at featherweight -luque at welterweight -gegard at middleweight -blaydes at heavyweight -that deaf dagestani with no beard that retired after a loss flyweight -zabit at featherweight -cannonier rn at middleweight -gamrot at lightweight -allen at featherweight (got the Max Holloway "fuck off prospect" special) -almeida at heavyweight

Alex vs Jiri 2 isn’t undeserved in the slightest. Jiri is ranked higher than Magomed actually (#1 and #2 respectfully) on UFC rankings, and Jiri beat someone on the rankings higher than Magomed as well. You also mentioned that Jiri did take this fight short notice, and thats mainly because Magomed wouldn’t have the guts to take on Alex short notice (who would haha). Jiri is one of the most deserving people for it, a rematch between him and Alex needed to happen after that 295 stoppage.

my thought is izzy vs ddp is a fight that should happen, undeserved. but its sick and Sean will still get a shot, it'll even be better for Sean cos he might be able to call for a quick turn around or get an easier fight than ddp with izzy

Izzy allready fought Whittaker,Costa and Cannonier were injured,next in line was Till but he fought in WW lost his last 2 bouts there and returned to MW and beat only Castelum.There was no real deserving contender available therefore Romero is "situational",too O'Malley vs Vera/Oliviera vs Chandler and Makhachev vs Porier were allthough "situational"

Gotta disagree with you on the masvidal v usman. Jorge took that fight in under a weeks notice ( i believe) and took usman to a decision. He was the hottest fighter at the time and he was saying with a full camp he'd destroy usman so dana gave it to him and he got slept. But he definitely deserved that fight. Im sure it sold well

Dricus izzy is Situational. Sean just won but has to take at least 3 to 4 months off for the fight and dricus has a right to be active. Khamzat whittaker is off but same thing there. If ikram wins he shouldnt get a shot and rob needs time. Let izzy fight him and book the winnner against strickland. If rob wins he can sit out and if ikram wins he can fight the loser of izzy dricus for a shot.

UFC made Strickland vs Costa because they had allready decided Izzy is next and Strickland not. UFC could have made Du Plessis vs Strickland 2 instead of Strickland vs Costa(not UFC 302,rather later)there was no reason not to do so therefore it isn't situational
