I think a lot of the fun of Seth's design for me is the voice actor going absolutely crazed ham and selling the entire thing.

Visually, Dhalsim's redesign is beyond god tier. Go back and look at his animations in SF4, then look how he moves in SF5, for a man made of rubber he used to be super rigid because capcom was always trying to stay faithful to his SF2 animations. Plus he just looks so much better with a beard IMO.

Dan isn't even bad in sfv. He's like at worst mid tier. And I agree with the infinite nerf being an RNG fireball. I loved it.

I love the story of G being this super powerful light of hope for people but then becoming this weird crippled man in 3rd strike. You can tell Q is trying to do the same moves as G but because of his old age, he can't pull it off well. Like Q's back fierce kick looks like him trying to do G's standing fierce kick but falling down. I just love how they did that.

My only gripe with poison is that SFV introduced a poison mechanic with FANG, and instead of poison poisoning in v-trigger, they gave her molotovs that burn instead

How is Bison not a redesign? He now has a teleport dash, slow menacing walk speed, two new specials with one being command input, and his new animations make everything feel more powerful. Perfection tier for me because he looks and feels like a powerful holder of psycho power.

You're right, Guile's overall gameplay design hasn't really changed compared to the likes of Nash, but the whole V System's emphasis on his booms really made him so awesome. And then we have Dan. Even before the RNG fireball, his design was already perfection by the fact he uses taunts in his combos. Add the new punch special along with his victory pose to make him an even bigger Ryo/Robert parody. The addition of the RNG fireball just made his design beyond perfect.

Seth's redesign is so genius. Instead of being an amalgam of existing SF moves, Seth takes specials and normals from all over the damn place. It's so cool.

The changes I loved on some characters was their idle stances Bison went from like he's tryna rev up those fryers to Cross Armed Smug POS who bosses you around, it was amazing LOL Karin's new stance looks so refined too Dhalsim's new stance is perfect for him since his old one looks like he's tryna pantomime and Vega, even its impractical looks more graceful than his old idle where he looks like he cracked in drugs

Tbh I LOVE Nash's new visual design and why he's like that : killed by Bison, resurrected by the Illuminatis, yes that's edgy but I love that Edit : also yeah, Bison is basically redesigned because his Psycho Crusher is replaced by Psycho Blast, and that's such a better tool, and the Psycho Inferno is a very nice non charge combo ender move, and has the more damage. And doing H Psycho Inferno into Psycho Blast is very satisfying.

I'm the weirdo who was actually attached to Birdie because his personality was just "I live my life in pursuit of the next meal I get to eat". G, for me is one of the best built characters in sf ever. Second patch of season 5 completed him.

I have to give major respect to Gill and his redesign. Sure there are a lot of similariities to the way he animated in Third Strike. Capcom decided to breathe life into the character by taking what were aesthetics only and changing those elements into their own minigame. I never thought I would reach a day where I say " I am hyped to see grand finals featuring that boss character from 3S" but he made a fan out of me especially thanks to the likes of Smug and Nemo. The character is brutal and clever much like his brother for whom I can repeat most of the things I said above.

I cannot agree more with the Vega part. He shouldn't lose one of his "stances" just because you got hit a lot.

My head canon is that q is g after losing his powers and becoming a robot.

What they did to Seth is too much. I honestly skipped to the part where you just ranked seth because I love what they did so much. Their references were fun but honestly, the way that character plays, even after the nerfs, just hits an itch I had I never knew I could feel in Street Fighter. Plus them being top tier was awesome. Also Congrats to Capcom for making a character that on release had basically all of their V-System be viable to change out I think. I loved playing all versions of Seth. I'm just sad that they came out right when UNICLR came out, and I had to drop UNI.

Dude I really enjoy all of your content and make sure to watch everything you put out. You have this really good balance of not being afraid to tell the truth about crappy stuff about a character, game, etc (in the video game garbage series) and also pointing out the shiny golden bits about those things that often give a different perspective than I or anyone else may have had. You also play/enjoy all the same stuff I do so I can't complain about that either haha Keep up the awesome videos!

You really did Mika dirty in this imo, she was kind of bland with some awkward throw animations in alpha, but in SFV she looks and plays like perfection to me! The way she moves along with her theme and grabs and even her vskill all really sell her personality of 'putting up a show' not even just for her opponent but also for us, the player, too! it's just so cool! Also her vtriggers have to be some of the most creative in the game, as well as Nadeshiko helping out in her EX grabs and super, it really feels like you're playing a 2v1 at times, just *chefs kiss* to me!

Dude, Ibuki in SF5 had like one of the most critical redesign in the game in gameplaywise. Also I know nobody like it but i really dig her new look. I mean having two lives as a highschooler and a ninja is the main thing about her.

You are exactly what i like on youtube. Someone sitting down, and talking about a game they love, with no script, and that's it. It's like a podcast but entertaining.

From this it kinda sounds like Poison was just in UFS4 out of obligation since they already had the assets for her from SFxT so she just ends up kinda unfocused as a result. I didn't really play her in 4 but I really like how she plays in 5 so I guess it worked out.

As a Blanka main across street fighter I love what they did to Blanka, definitely my favourite version of him. In SF2HF they gave Blanka a new special move that was amazing, it was up ball but it also came down as an attack, kept him close to the opponent and was plus on block, overall a really strong tool. It was so strong that in super they split it into 2 moves, up ball; which is a pretty good anti air option that comes out frame 1; and back step roll; better known as rainbow ball and it sucks punishable on hit to slow to be an effective tool to navigate fire balls just a bottom 5 special move in sf2 history. 4 made some improvements to rainbow ball but it was still pretty gimmicky and not a great move for attacking purposes. 5 finally gave the move hyper fighting coming down properties making this move actually usable as both a mobility option and attacking option. On top of that the changes from 4 to coward crouch are great as well, giving it a hit, hop and jump follow ups out of crouch makes is so much more than an forgettable fireball avoidance move. Vs2 is also really nice as it lets him play a more zoning heavy game that ends up fitting his kit really well. Design wise I also like what they did, I still prefer how feral he looked on comparison to the rest of the cast in 2, I don't mind how cartoony he looks in the alpha series, 4 he just looks dumb, 5 he still has a bit of that cartoony look but its a big improvement over 4. His command grab is meh though, Blanka is a lot less gimicky than people think in this game but his command grab is pretty much the only move in his kit I would consider wholesale a gimick.

I went from not knowing jack shit about Street Fighter as a series really, to being Highly Invested in several of the characters thanks to your videos. Your videos are all golden no matter what you're talking about. Seriously, your passion and love for the subject will always make it enjoyable.

Just gonna do a thread to some comments you make so i get my thoughts in order well (warning, textwall): - personal favorite redesigns: Honda ( just so satisfying to play especially in the style Daigo does, neutral heavy) Urien (not having charge partitioning sucks but the combos, juggles, Aegis setups, headbutt loops or even neutral lk tackle mindgames make him so satisfying to play, tho playing a bad matchup with him is pain incarnate especially pre vs2... and the SUIT man, so many good colors with it too) Guile and Bison (same reasons as you, i sub them both and they are consistently fun to play when you know your shit) Dan (Danfinite being an rng based combo is so fun, generally having red fireball is a based af mechanic, and the normal to normal cancels are so sick to do and watch, especially as a pressure option) Oro is looking fun so far, but he isnt out yet so lol - mash specials: I think making Chuns a qcf makes sense since its a combo ender and confirm tool. Honda hands being a qcf special would actually make it even more busted since you could just randomly throw it out in neutral, kinda like Ed players use his 123 (whiff jab 123), but since it has less range and his jabs are 5f with more recovery it would add a lot to his arsenal to be able to just do it. - old characters lacking: i think some of the base/s1 roster is really good at avoiding that problem especially with their buffs. Like for base Karin, buffed Ryu, Chun and now even newly buffed Ken are still fun to play. And most of s1 chars are playing really well still in terms of options. Boxer with the new VT1 Vs2 playstyle that japanese players have been using. Urien of course (i main him but i gotta admit, they took away lots of his fun setups through nerfs throughout the years). Guile is surprisingly played very differently between HL players, Daigo being the best example at someone who utilizes everything he has to the max, even doing new stuff like dfwHK into CA confirms. Alex is the best hes ever been and really fun to play - Roses release was some of the most fun i had playing SFV, labbing optimal VT2 combos, anti airing people with scarf midscreen and zoning characters pretty well, but that died out by now - my fav new chars are G( technically Q like you said), Rashid, Ed (season 5 Ed, i dont use default costume so design wise hes ok for me (using tracksuit), but the way he plays now is mega fun) and Menat (very good animations and design choices imo even if she is annoying to fight, some of the highest creativity in the game)

I love these sit down and talk videos, they feel so engaging. I also have a question. I think I mentioned this game on an older video, but the video was fairly old so it probably went unnoticed. Have you ever heard of Hisoutensoku? It’s this completely wild fighting game that I really shouldn’t recommend playing since it’s crazy untraditional and very hard to get into, but it is really fun to watch and research.

Honestly gief is just a very fundamentally bad fighting game character. His stand out game sf4 is the only time he gets good hit confirms and a gameplan that makes use of his tools. V just shows that unless you move away from his 2 design of tenk who hit hurd he’s just gonna be ugh. Capcom always overrates how good zangief’s kit is. Even during the development of 2 they somehow though he was top tier instead of the worst character in the game and nerfed him.

My thing with Juri is that out of all her charge stuff only her vs-1 and her light projectile make sense for it. The VS1 is a get in on projectiles but also gives her a side switch in combos and gives her a "you know this is a thing right?" presence. Light Fuha can be spaced to be meaty or safe so yeah I can understand if it has to be charged but the other 2 specials really don't deserve the handicap.

As a Guile main (even though I don’t play SF too much), delay fireball is the most fun I’ve had with the character in any iteration. I really hope VS1 sticks around. On the other hand, I fucking hate Akuma in any game. So I still hate Akuma. Also, I mentioned how much I love G in your Q video. Seth being a reference to OTHER Capcom characters (as well as the gender bend, which is the funniest shit because of his still male voice) was a genius idea.

I'm liking this video solely on the comments about Juri and Mileena. I always described their character archtype as Thirst Traps, but CBT given sentience is pretty fucking funny.
