An underrated band, dominated in some people's minds by 2 songs that are far from representative of the rest of the bands output. Their recent output is especially strong 1 Last Look At Eden 2 Bag Of Bones 3 Out Of This World 4 War Of Kings 5 Wings Of Tomorrow 6 Prisoners In Paradise 7 Walk The Earth 8 The Final Countdown 9 Europe 10 Start From The Dark.
@gvidovaldmanis63773 жыл бұрын
The final countdown is their best song, what are you talking about?
@jerryattwooll48643 жыл бұрын
@@gvidovaldmanis6377 Not to my ears it isn't, and a lot of friends I have dismissed Europe because of it, (I actually do quite like the song myself, but prefer it when I hear it live and uts much heavier). It's only when I've played their albums to people that they've said things like, "I didn't know Europe were like this or could rock this hard" Uf you like TFC then fine, good for you, more power to you, but their best song? Not for me, by a long way.

Even if The Final Countdown was tailored for hair metal genre, Europe were quite different - heavier and a little more sophisticated. Even The title track sounded nothing like Poison, Warrant, etc. That album also helped me develop my love for heavy music when I was a kid. I need to check out more of their newer material. Good video.

Glad to see Wings of Tomorrow as number 1. I remember, when Final Countdown came out, all the metalheads were calling them posers, but in the interviews they kept repeating that their influences were the hard rock bands from the seventies, particularly UFO. I haven't heard the recent stuff but from your descriptions it seems that they went back to their roots.

Even though I have heard The Final Countdown so many times I still love listening to it. Europe is and has been a very special band to me since I was a little kid when The Final Countdown album first came out. I love their first era big time of 1983-1991 and I also love their second most recent era of 2004- up to now alot. My list would have to be. 11. Secret Society 10. Bag Of Bones 9. Last Look At Eden 8. Prisoners In Paradise 7. War Of Kings 6. Walk The Earth 5. Start From The Dark 4. Out Of This World 3. The Final Countdown 2. Wings Of Tomorrow 1. Europe self titled 1983 The first two albums have been my favorites for over thirty years and are some of the greatest albums ever that I have listened to. Sometimes Wings Of Tomorrow is my favorite, but at this moment the debut is my favorite. Those two albums are MASTERPIECES to me. Europe should not be judged on just one song. They have many phenomenal songs that in my opinion are better than their two biggest hits The Final Countdown and Carrie. Europe in my opinion should have been even bigger than they were. They are still putting out amazing music and I wish more people would give them a chance. The current lineup is the exact lineup that did The Final Countdown album. I love both guitar players that Europe has had. Both John Norum and Kee Marcello are Phenomenal guitar players. My favorite is John Norum , but I do love Kee Marcello's guitar playing on Out Of This world and Prisoners In Paradise albums alot. Europe even played live as six piece band in Sweden The Final Countdown and Rock The Night on December 31 1999 to bring in 2000 with both John Norum and Kee Marcello. It actually would have been cool if they stayed as a six piece band.

Honestly, I think my favourite Europe album is actually Prisoners in Paradise. The opening riff on all or nothing always made me hype as a kid and still makes me giddy today, and other songs such as halfway to heaven, mind in the gutter and prisoners in paradise always put me in a great mood. I get why a lot of people don't really like that particular style of Europe, but it really works for me. I mostly agree with the rest of the list though. I'd personally put the final countdown above the first album, but I still think it's a fair list.

OK, I think Pardo , sold me on checking out Europe. He mentions UFO< Lizzy, Zep, Heep, Purple type music. Being a huge fan of Metal / Hard Rockin in 80's, 90's, Europe was Never, Ever , on my radar. Alas, all i knew was the poppy over-played countdown , and carrrie. None of my friends had their albums. They never were in my realm. Only time , was when I bought the Don Dokken Solo CD in 1990, he has a great band with John Norum on guitar. Great album. I had heard of Norum in my guitar magazines, but he had left Europe then. Going to check out there stuff today!

Just had a listen to ‘Walk The Earth’, sounds pretty good! I personally think that you can often judge a book (or a record) by its cover, and the fact that it has a really strong one bodes well for the album. The music and the packaging both tell me that this is a band that really cares about what they’re doing.

Another great video, I'm amazed by the number of people who think melodic hard rock bands suck, there's going to be always great bands and no so great in any style of music. I know this type of music was big in the 80s until 1991 roughly. I was a young man in the 90s, but I I grew up listening lots of 70s and 80s band. For me Europe is a great band and there were many, Treat, Harem Scarem, Steelheart, and many more. I like your videos because like me you listen current music by old and new bands, because there are many people that are still stucked listening to the first 2 or 3 albums of their favourite bands. Even though I like blues and some jazz, hard rock and melodic hard rock are what I like the most. Please Pete take a moment to review the new albums by H.e.a.t, The night flight orchestra, Palace (from Sweden), Harem Scarem, One Desire (from Finland), Treat new albums. Maybe the golden years for melodic hard rock is gone but there are lots of new brands. One issue I find funny is that we stil talk like we are teenagers and if it's not too heavy is rubbish. Keep those videos coming, cheers from England.

Talisman is a great band. I have been a huge Jeff Scott Soto fan since his singing days with Yngwie Malmsteen. I love Talisman's live version of Scream Of Anger . Saw them in concert a few years ago where they did a lot of songs from their newer albums and was really astounded. It as really amazing stuff, and these guys really can deliver the gods live. Norum is a guitargod up there with the best of them, and Tempest still has a superb voice unlike so many other rock vocalists his age that have ripped their chords to shreds.

I have been a hardcore fan since my 6th birthday November 8th 1988: as a birthday present I was given the album Out of this world.... and my life changed forever - 32 years later I am a bigger Europe then ever before. I am so happy you are giving them the overall recognition they deserve!!!!! Okay so for me there is no such thing as a bad Europe - But that being said.... I'm going to attempt to give you my ranking as of right now. So here we go: 11.Europe 10. Start from the dark 9. Secret society 8. The Final Countdown 7. Prisoners in paradise 6. Last look at Eden 5. Bag of bones 4. Wings of tomorrow 3. Out of this world 2. War of kings 1. Walk the earth
