It's easy to fly. I hopped in it and flew it about a month ago. I did 9 or 10 landings, and each landing I tried a different setting of flaps. The S-12 is very easy to fly.

That engine sounds awesome!!!! I wish you didn't need a light sport license to fly these. They are basically a " semi" ultra light with 2 seats. A little training with a instructor in one should be enough since ultra lights require none at all. They aren't Cessna 152s and shouldn't require all the FAA hoops to jump through to to fly one.

Wow looks like it's still for sale? What a cool little plane! If I wasn't a broke student paying for flight school I'd be all over it! Haha. Just curious, what's the useful load on something like this? Can you fill up both wing tanks and carry two people plus a few light bags? What's the fuel burn like? Hope it finds a home soon!

I noticed your constant adjustments of the joystick. Is that really necessary to keep the plane in control. I have never flown a Rans but have a couple hundred hours on other aircraft and thousands of hang glider flights.

It was to see the instruments but how fast will it cruse at and what kind of distance on a non windy day. Nice video and the plane looks great at a good price.

I think it cruises at around 70mph, maybe a little more. Distance would be around 6+ hours (18 gal tank) so maybe 420 miles without wind, more with a tailwind, less with a headwind.

The interior structure is aluminum, but the outer skin is dacron with a painted and clear coated finish.

I m from India ,if I buy this I need to take permission from the airport ?

If you are asking if you need permission to fly this aircraft from a tower controlled airport, then the answer is yes. If you are flying out of a non-towered airport like the ones we fly from, then the answer is no, you don't need permission. We fly in the USA, and the rules may be different in your country, however.

In India, you need a Police clearance certificate to rule out any shady character before even applying for a license. Yes you read it right, license is needed for ultralight too in India.

Would it fit to a residential garage with wings folded? Is there option to cover entire cockpit?

Well, garages are different sizes, so it kind of depends. It would fit diagonally in a two car garage easily. Not sure if there is a specific option to plexiglass over the side openings behind the door, if that is what you mean. I am sure there is. If not, you can do it yourself. It is an experimental aircraft, so you can make any changes you like.

It would have been dangerous, except both pilots knew exactly what the other was doing. The yellow plane wasn't landing, just doing a flyby, which we are aware many people would still consider dangerous at that proximity. Watch again at 11:25 and he does it again. Totally intentional.

jim McLean - the pilot was overcorrecting for absolutely no reason. This is a regular S12 with excellent control and stability. It was pretty Gusty out that day and before the flight right after I hook up the cameras I asked him to fly the plane as stable as possible. And so he constantly over-corrected for no reason during the whole flight. We laugh about it now because it looks like he's got Alzheimer's or something. The plane is easy to fly it does not require nearly that much control input to stay level.
