I love your rants, Joe! They are always must-click-now videos for me, haha! Speaking of anchovies, when I was a young kid anchovies and hot peppers and onions and mushrooms and the whole shebang were always on the pizzas my parents would bring home when I was a kid, so I just thought ALL "pizza" was automatically loaded with those toppings by default, so I grew up thinking I didn't like pizza.....until one day I tasted a simple pepperoni pizza that some friends offered me and I thought I'd died and gone to heaven! Hahaha!

Great rant, you are correct. I never see anchovies on the menu in pizza shops anymore and I never get them on my Caesar salad. Just like Tab soda, it went away. ☹️

I stopped messing with supermarket canned anchovies years ago. Gotta go to a good pork store and buy them in the big glass jars with the mason lids. Or [harder to find] the huge cans the size of a brick with the really big anchovies and the plastic lids like what comes with cans of coffee.

They still have anchovies at the local pizza places here in my hometown Santa Barbara

This is another good one! I like anchovies, too. Now that you've got me thinking of them, the next time I go to the grocery store, I'm going to buy a can of anchovies, to put on salads.

The pizza topping that I get made fun of is shrimp. Loved shrimp on my pizza since little kid days.

I use to love the choice of a side dish order of anchovies uncooked at Round Table Pizza back in the day when one could do such a thing,...now everything is flipped upside down and sideways to Sunday! Years ago they always had anchovies on pizza l hardly see them anymore. Had a Caesar salad recently it had a kot if anchovies delicious!

Lol my dad almost always gets a pepperoni and anchovy pizza and our local place actually has them. My mom and I both hate the smell/taste though.

It's rare these days to get anchovies in a Caesar salad. When I'm offered them in a restaurant now, I'm shocked! It's ridiculous.

With anchovies you either love them or hate them. But yeah there was a time when pizza w/anchovies was a standard topping- now I guess it’s hit or miss. But the guy who said the anchovies were mixed in the dressing just didn’t want to deal with it, and pretty soon they won’t even know what anchovies are! You have to be in a sit down restaurant to even get rolled anchovies w/capers in your salad ect. Hang there Joe it’s a “Mad Mad Mad World”

Mr. Mayo Bring your own can. B. Y. O. C. I used to go to a Mexican restaurant. They would never give me enough avocado in my chicken soup. So I brought avocados cut them up at the table and put it in my soup. These cheap suckers at restaurants aren't going to defeat my enjoyment of my meal. God bless my friend!!

Move to Brooklyn. Never have a problem getting the perfect pizza: anchovies and pineapple. Anchovies in everything! Cottage cheese and anchovies! Get them put in a calzone too.

My solution to this problem. Get sardines!!! Sardines are still available. Bring a can of sardines to the restaurant, or anchovies if they still make them from home. If they pizza parlour doesn’t sell or carry anchovies and you order it “with” anchovies, order a cheese pizza, and when it comes, whip out the can, and pour the anchovies or sardines or whatever alternative you got onto your pizza, or salad or whatever. If the waitress, or manager or an employee shows up, and says “you’re not supposed to bring food to our restaurant”, you can say with the sardines or anchovies on your pizza, “I paid for this” pointing at the pizza or salad that they cooked for you, with the sardines or anchovies added to the food you ordered, and continue on saying, “and now I’m going to eat it here.” If they try to throw you out of the place, turn around and yell at them “WELL NEXT TIME ‘GET’ ANCHOVIES FOR YOUR PIZZAS, OR I’M NOT EATING HERE!!!”

Hey Joe, I love anchovies I’m right there with you. Caesar dressing for Caesar salad is made with anchovies, but why not put them on the salad like you’re saying they are delicious and I love them on pizza I think most establishments get afraid because of what the population of people say when they look at a anchovies, but they are wonderful, I guess we’ll have to do is bring a can of anchovies whenever we go to get salads and pizzas. Anchovies have always been in the dressing of a REAL CEASER SALAD. You have to look for specific restaurants to get a real Ceaser salad these days. That bottled Ceaser dressing has no anchovies in it.

I guess they swam away (from being popular). 😂 Personally, I would never order anchovies after hearing you describe them. Yuck! 🤢

Well in my case, I believe my pizza parlor finally got the message, in a manner of speaking. For years when I would order a deluxe pizza, I would have to say “hold the anchovies” because they were 1/7 topping they’d put on that pizza. Then last year they printed out new menus and anchovies were removed from the deluxe pizza. I inquired as to why as was told “People just don’t like them”. But you can still add them to your pizza! You just have to specify that you want anchovies.

Buy your own anchovies and open a tin of them and put them on your pizza. If the waitress, or manager or employee, shows up and says “you cannot bring food to our restaurant”, say “I paid for this”, pointing to the pizza they prepared, and the anchovies you added, and then say, “now I’m going to eat it. Get anchovies for the pizzas next time!!” If they don’t make anchovies anymore, get sardines!!!

Anchovies are old school . When the new generation finds it hip, and trendy then it will come back with a vengeance.

Back in the 70s I always heard about anchovies on pizza but I've noticed in recent decades not hearing about that anymore. I don't know if people's tastes have changed & fewer people like them or what.

I've also noticed that especially with pizza places. It's weird. You're probably right, it must be the cost.
