@@surelynotlolicon3545 In Malta we curse in quite a similar fashion as well, as half of our vocabulary is Italian and also due to the trickling down of culture in general. The amount of times you hear the names of God, Virgin Mary or any known religious figure (even the apostles or Moses out of nowhere) used as a way to make swearing more "colourful" is quite literally incalculable.

My grandpa is an italian immigrant who ran an ironworking shop for a long time. He speaks pretty fluent Spanish because of how similar Italian and Spanish are and having a handful of Mexican employees.

@@icarusthorn9739 It's not just that. French and portuguese, especially the former, sound fairly different from italian, despite also being romance languages. Spanish is WAY closer to italian than any other language. I remember going to Spain for a brief vacation and talking to spanish people in italian, with them answering in spanish, and understanding each other reasonably well. There are a lot of differences, but a lot of the words have such similarities that, if you talk slowly, it's rather easy to get the general meaning of a sentence, oftentimes.

Quick pro tip, there are very few italian words that end with consonants, they almost all end with vowels, and also we don't have the english and spanish thing of adding an s at the end to make it plural but instead usually swap the vowels, hence why chattino becomes chattini instead of chattinos (there are plenty of more complex rules and exceptions of course).
