This is the song that really began it all for RUSH! A Cleveland, Ohio radio station began playing it one day back in 1974 and the radio station got flooded with calls about this new song from Led Zeppelin. 😂 The rest is history!

The drummer is called the professor, best drummer ever. Neil Peart is his name.

The WTF section at the end was the introduction to Cygnus X-1, a masterpiece so epic that it had to be done in 2 parts; the first part was the closing track on their 1977 album A Farewell To Kings, and the second part was the opening track on their 1978 album Hemispheres, adding up to about 30 minutes that will completely blow your mind! Working Man...Live in Cleveland from 2011 (original studio version was in 1974-75)...The pure sight and performance of three men in their upper 50's take control of the stage and perform and play like they were in their 20's. He was The Professor...a pure musician and percussionist...not just a "drummer". Be ready to be amazed by not just his hand coordination...but most of all his foot coordination...basically his feet being completely individual in timing from his hands during segments of this performance. He was the master of this technique.

This song, which is from the band’s first album, was written by the bassist and guitarist, because their original drummer failed to come up with lyrics just before its recording. He was replaced before their first foreign tour (i.e. their first tour of the USA, as an opening band for better established bands). His replacement, Mr Peart, was a brilliant autodidact who a,so shared their interest in exploring progressive rock. Peart wrote almost all of the lyrics for the next 18 albums. You’ll see a vast improvement in the depth and expression of the band’s lyrics from album no.2 onwards.

I can remember the first time I heard this version, in concert. Me and my buddies looked around at each other with puzzled faces. We figured, "Oh, I guess they got tired, after all these years, of singing it like the studio version, and they're going to Bob Marley their way through it." We were a little disappointed but figured they had earned the right to mess around with it, to keep it fresh...And then, the drop!

Never liked the studio version, 45+ years, Rush fan. This is pre Neil (R.I.P.), but this version is insane because of the improv. All three of course but Alex and Geddy in particular go off. Do not want to minimize Neil doing his thing back there either, what else is new, just saying. ✨✨✨✨✨☑️👍😎
