'Meet The Meat' Canada - CrushCity has arrived! Rapala VMC pro staffer JP DeRose overviews the CrushCity premium softbait lineup, which falls into two model collections. These are the five US CrushCity models designed by Rapala pro Jacob Wheeler for all tournament and avid bass anglers, and four northern-focused, multi-species baits designed by Rapala VMC Canada.
The US-designed bait line-up includes:
• The Ned BLT, a 3-inch tapered jig worm bait perfect for fishing on a VMC Ned Rig Jig or a drop-shot rig.
• The Freeloader, a 4.25-inch vibrating jig/spinnerbait trailer that’s also potent for Damiki rigging (aka moping) as well as jig casting scenarios.
• The Cleanup Craw, a 3.5-inch double paddle craw with a thick body suitable for Texas rigging, Tokyo rigging, Carolina rigging, and punching, but can also be fished on a jig on its own or used as a trailer.
• The Bronco Bug, a 4-inch beefy crawfish imitator bass can’t resist that features a unique, leg-recoiling action initiated when it hits bottom.
• The Mayor, a shad-shaped swimbait with a tantalizing action available in 3- and 4-inch sizes.
The Freeloader, Cleanup Craw, Bronco Bug and The Major are made of Rapala’s non-toxic PVC, or plastisol, plastic formula. Whereas the Ned BLT is composed of Super TPE, a stretchy, super-flexible, buoyant, ultra-tough material.
Both PVC and Super TPE CrushCity soft baits are made using Rapala’s Smart Injection Technology. This innovative manufacturing process allows for the precise placement of colour, flake, scent and salt to each and every bait. Advantages ensuing from Smart Injection Technology include: better looking baits, detailed body features (like ribs and micro appendages), enhanced scent dispersion, and incredible attraction and strike-triggering actions.
Next, DeRose introduces the four CrushCity models available in Canada.
The Canadian-designed bait line-up includes:
• The Suspect, a 2.75-inch swimbait ideal for jigging, drop shotting, drop swimming and other finesse tactics.
• The Creeper, a 2.5-inch, next-generation grub bait with an action-rich curly tail and reverse crawlers on the belly, for increased vibration, movement and scent dispersion.
• The Jerk, a 3.75-inch soft jerkbait suitable for jigging, Carolina rigging, Texas rigging, weightless rigging and many other applications.
• The Heavy Hitter, a 4-inch swimbait with a bigger body and larger tail than the 4-inch Mayor - walleye, northern pike and lake trout anglers, take note!
Each of these four baits is made of Super TPE, which in addition to being ultra-durable and buoyant, is also heat stable and won’t freeze. As a result, anglers are able to catch fish using these four northern-focused, multi-species baits, along with the Ned BLT, in temperatures ranging from the sweltering, dog days of summer to freezing conditions when ice fishing. The fact Super TPE is extra stretchy and floats only further strengthens it uses for Canadian multi-species techniques.
“These four editions to the Canadian line-up, I think, really round out the CrushCity line-up,” DeRose said. “No matter what species you’re fishing for, or where you are in the country, CrushCity has a bait that’s going to fit your profile perfectly.”
