Iwatani Naofumi, a run-of-the-mill otaku, finds a book in the library that summons him to another world. He is tasked with joining the sword, spear, and bow as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes and fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero.
Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets off with his party. However, merely a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect. Unable to trust anyone anymore, he employs a slave named Raphtalia and takes on the Waves and the world.
But will he really find a way to overturn this desperate situation?

I love the fact tht melty character and magic are changing each time we see her....i love spellcasters and seeing melty help out and jump into action with the gang makes me even more happy...i hope too see her alot more and see more of her in battle capabilities

It is mind blowing how much more polished a d refined the animation is than season 2. It doesn't look or feel rushed and I just can't help but feel pride in seeing one of the best turn arounds back into great animation. Well done

Well I hope three things: 1) they destroy the dragon emperor’s core 2)that wyndia leaves Naofumi and his party with gaelion and find a new cave to live and may they never come to the village again 3) that they make a new core with a dangerous deadly monster to give to kizuna so it unleashes it self and destroys kizuna and her world as retaliation for the dragon emperor incident

@xavierperes What is wrong with Kizuna didn't do anything wrong she never knew that Naofumi will get a dragon ir was an Accident and Kizuna is Naofumi's friend they promised to work together to stop the waves And I thought you said that you sorry and didn't wish anything bad would happen to Kizuna and her friends in one of your other comments And why does Gealion and Wyndai need to leave and never come back they made peace with each other so would it be better for Naofumi and Gealion to work together

Now this is a great fight sequence. Now let’s see how they will do with the next 3 remaining episodes of this season. I have to say I feel like season 3 is really making up for season 2 in terms of animation and story plot. A vast improvement, I say.

@Rmg4699 there will be 2 more arcs JUSTICE arc with bow hero this arc is only 3 ln chapters so it will be like 15 i think bcz next arc is Siltvelt succesion arc 13 ln chapters I think there will be 13 episodes ín this season

Except from the episode before this which they did dirty to that 5 fps dragon which looked worse than those 3d models from early 2000s like dinossaur king and pokemon

@silverking9908 well the previous season(season 2) had a whole different crew making it. Not same grew from Season 1, since they were busy with Made in Abyss S2 and Cardfight Vanguard. Season 3 has the same team of Season 1.

I still feel like this entire plotline came completely out of left field, like a Bleach Filler. But this fight was pretty fantastic! And while I still grumble that none of the cast have gotten the amazing development that Raphtalia, Filo and Melty got in S1, the characters introduced so far in S3 have gotten better treatment than the pile of red shirts in S2 that we'll never see again. Overall this season is MUHC better than S2 but not on par with S1. So far anyway. They might have set the bar too high. Raphtalia saving Naofumi in S1 is one of the most emotional moments I've ever seen in FICTION period. Forget just anime. Then the fights against the wave boss where they met Glass, and later the fight against the Pope? It's so hard to top or even match those moments, and frankly, they haven't been able to so far. That said I'm enjoying S3. Whereas I had to force myself through S2. So that's a win!

Naw, doesn't match the fights in S1. Go rewatch the fight where he used Iron Maiden or the fight against the Pope. This fight was a good 3rd place maybe. Easily best of S2 or S3 though!

@@drakofox1362Actually no the Dragon Emperor are fragments from King of Dragons that supposedly fought against Fitoria. He can possess any dragon that consumes one of his core fragments. The Demon Dragon Emperor is a fragment from Kizuna's world.

I'm actually glad it didn't. It felt like that's what the show was devolving to: everything else fails and he has to use the curse power, every time for the last several major conflicts. I think that the fact that he was able to win without it shows just how far he's come. He's matured. His party has gotten fantastically strong, and he's gained the ability to trust them. He's even begun to reconcile with the other Heroes. But I'm certain we haven't seen the last of that shield. It's the devil on his shoulder. I'd bet a month's pay that at some point the author is going to put him in a position where he is truly cut off from his party and he'll end up having to use it.

@@beowulf916 maybe I’m being too judgmental, but I haven’t seen him in sometime so I just assumed he became an evil villain with no heart and soul who would want revenge against Naofumi for wrongdoing him and for taking rishia from his party But still I hope he gets all the punishment he deserves and even gets tortured with painful cuts made by ren so he suffers and… Am I being cruel with itsuki now?

S3 is FAR better than S2 unquestionably. But it's not on the level of S1. S3 restores the animation quality and calms the pacing down. But still struggles with too many new characters and not nearly enough time to develop them.
