I came here for a vacation 25 years ago and move here 3 months later. I can't imagine living anywhere more beautiful and there's always something to see and do. I live in the middle of town and have seen wildlife (deer, turkeys, porcupines and mountain lions) from my porch. As you can see in the video the weather is always changing and the winters mild and short lived! That you fir highlighting our little piece of heaven!

My wife and I lived there (well, mainly Black Hawk) from 2018-2021 untilI lost my job. Lived the dream for 3 1/2 years, had 6 acres and a cabin, it was heaven. But we moved back east to be closer to family as they get older, and it was really hard to find a job in Rapid in my line of work. When we're retired I hope we can live up there again RV style in the summer/fall. The Black Hills get in your soul. Spent many days riding in the woods or hunting early mornings, hearing the wind blow through the trees.

My wife and I spent a week in this glorious area about a year ago. Highlight for us was staying at Spearfish Lodge in Spearfish Canyon. Enjoyed Deadwood , Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park and the Black Hills. Planning on a return trip to stay at the Lodge. One of my favorite parts of America. Thanks for the video.

We booked about a year and a half out and had to change rooms midway during our stay to accommodate another guest's booking. Well worth the inconvenience. Peaceful and quiet. You could hear the water flow from the adjoining stream. And really enjoyed the hikes to the two nearby waterfalls.

I remember the devastating flood in Rapid City in 1972 that killed several hundred people. Most of the devastation was along Rapid creek. Since the flood, there was no rebuilding along the creek other than the park and a memorial. Rapid City is a beautiful town. I have been binge watching your videos since I discovered you on you tube. You do a beautiful job with the arial drone shots and the quality is outstanding. I've enjoyed the ride!

There is a memorial for that flood at Story Book Island I believe, along with remnants of the old park. I lived on Sheridan Lake Road (and several others in Rapid City) as a child in a house that is no longer there. I loved watching this video as well. I haven't lived there in over 23 years, but I was just there this June and was able to show my family all the same sites. One of the houses I grew up in was just down the road from the entrance to Skyline Drive (the road that takes you up to Dinosaur Hill). Just as you make the final left turn up the hill towards the parking lot, where that nice house is, use to be completely empty. There is a large rock formation we use to climb on and ride our bikes to. Really miss it.

My parents drove through Rapid City that night in 1972. They looked for a place to pitch a tent and, after finding all the campgrounds full, drove on to Wyoming. When they reached their destination, their friends all told them about the flood and about how worried they were. I'm here today because my parents couldn't find a place to pitch a tent. All three campgrounds they stopped at were completely washed away. .. I've been a resident of this great city for almost a decade now. There are very few places I'd rather be.

I actually lived in Rapid City for several years. One weekend I decided to look at every presidential statue. Took several hours to complete the task. I actually uploaded all 43 pictures to Google maps. The Dinosaur Park features every dinosaur fossil that has been found in the Black Hills. Main Street Square and the downtown area was my favorite part of the city. The park system along Rapid Creek was a result of the 1972 flood. One of my favorite activities in the summer was driving to Hill City and taking the 1880 Train from Hill City to Keystone and spend the day going to all the shops and restaurants.

The building you were asking about in the video: BUELL BUILDING 630 St. Joseph Street Built in 1888, the Buell Building was home to Lakota Banking & Investment Co. Attorney Charles Buell bought it in 1901, renamed it established his law firm on the second floor. For a time, the building was home to the National Weather Bureau. (A weather flag on the roof told residents the forecast.) The distinctive Russo-Byzantine dome, built by local craftsman from a copper-covered wooden mould, made this building a downtown landmark. Originally this was a much smaller building -- three more sections were added along Seventh Street by 1925.

I've been living in near rapid city throughout my whole childhood, but the downtown area is lovely and includes a lot of great stores to check out.

Rapid City grew on me once I got my AR and 4-wheeler 🤣Living-wise, it was either an overpriced house, overpriced apartment, or trailer. I went trailer. It was cheaper, had a yard and the landlord ran a clean place.

We got there last summer just after you took this video, and spent two superb weeks touring the Black Hills, Mt. Rushmore, Sturgis, Devil's Tower WY, and everything else shown here. Rapid City rocks, and I only wish we could move there, but alas, lots of other people are thinking the same and pushing up housing prices to unaffordable levels. We visited Sturgis just after the bikers' rally, and there were still quite a few sticking around. One thing I noticed is that motorcycles seem to be a senior citizen affectation these days, with a paucity of younger bikers around. Oh well.

Right off the bat you passed the hanging tree. The original tree was still there when I first saw it. Mount Rushmore was more impressive, to me, before the remodeling that was done in the 1980's but still a must see.

I happened to come across this video. Rapid city is a border town to the oglala lakota native reservation, about an hour away. Thats where im from. But hardly anyone ever talks about us, so i hope you get a chance to visit. Wounded knee is a hit spot for travelers.

Rapid Creek is one of the most productive urban trout fisheries, with around 1200 to 1500 fish per mile. A destination fly fishermen's paradise. I was born and raised in Rapid City, moved in 2000 and can not wait to return!!!

We just spent 4 days in Rapid City , gorgeous terrain. We went to Badlands, Custer Park, Iron Mountain , and Mt Rushmore , we will return. Our four days were not enough, but we packed in alot in those days. I will have to say that Sioux Falls had far better restaurants .

Nice looking city. I know someone who's moving there in the near future. It looks like a peaceful place to live. I'm glad George is in front of Starbucks, he can pop in for a cup of coffee. Coffee use to be referred to as a cup of George, not Joe as it currently is.
