Maybe you should put a "sport cap" at the tip of your straw. You know, the same cap that's used on on bottles that athletes use. It allows you to open and close it single-handedly. I'm interested into buying this raft but I wonder if simply adding some grease on the inside of the raft's closing flap might help preventing the air going out.

To get it to pack down smaller, just fold the flaps a bit further in when you're rolling it up and it wont get that bend in it when you fold it up
