If only Metrolinx spent some money on rebuilding some of there F59PH like what VIA Rail did to their F40PH-2Ds but not likely they would due to cost and age.

Though Rapido didn't indicate which drill bit to use for the holes and placement if you want to use them on your model.

Thanks for watching. There is a bit of a learning curve to it. Rapido should have a downloadable dcc file for the decoder soon and should be up on the site when they do. I will do my best to show how to open the car and do the install.

@@krisma12234 I appreciate the kind words. I too feel uneasy about doing or learning some aspects of the hobby. The only way to break that is to get right in there regardless of how it might turn out. I was never a fan of wiring but I try to keep it simple. Practice on a smaller scale layout like a diorama. Do a few different ones. Learn as you go and challenge yourself. You might just surprise yourself. Even now when I look at some of the things I have made… I feel like I could do better. We are own worst enemy some times. But this hobby has the best community and we support and help each other.

That would be a treat. I bet you…. By this Xmas they will announce it or the f59… or both. A box set would be nice.

I don't think Athearn has produce/announce these in their Genesis line yet. But if they do, it better be just as good as the Rapido version plus maybe each coach will have sound/lights as their future 2023 release HO M-K Amtrak California cars. Yeah, the Athearn RTR cars are good as filler.

They are some of my favourites. I’m still waiting for Atlas to announce the Go Transit MP40 like all the metra. They should run real well and I’m sure you would be happy with the set.

My understanding is that if you are not going to put a sound decoder in then you can add that decoder so that you still get dcc function without sound.

They have good wheel sets and great couplers. I ran them both ways and didn’t have any real issues. They are lighter then Athearn Bilevels as well so 1 loco can push/pull more of these then the Athearn ones.

Thank you. I had switched over one of my cabs last night with the plug. I had seen how easy it was and planned to do a video on it. Lol Then I had seen the Rapido one today. Still odd that they say they will have a sound file available on their website. But they are now saying they don’t.

@@GoViaorgohome hmmm, Atleast now you know your coaches didn’t come faulty. I got worried when you said “ I do have a slight concern with this model” in the video lol. Turns out it was just the plug.

@@luvrwilliam6868 haha your telling me. And I never have issues… (knock on wood) I was so thrilled to get the cars and I do love them. It was just odd that they did not just put the dcc decoder in then left the dc out. Or did not include a sound decoder… like athearns sound cars are g2g out of the package. I didn’t even realize that you don’t need to take the couplers out even though I did. (Old habit) but it was a fun learning experience.

@@GoViaorgohome How do you think that will go. I have a 3 pack still in the box along with a FP59 still in the box. Just too busy in summer to do any model railroading. I think with my questionable track work pushing might be a no go.
