Wait till you’re 76. You reflect on even people not things. Music pulls me back to the era it was made. The fifties and early 60s family, Vietnam my Marine buddies, 70s the start of my marriage, 80/90s my kids music, and now after 50 years of marriage I can relive the people I love in each time period. Thank you for taking me back with your reflections.

Bob Seger doesn't have a bad song . His catalog of bangers is epic.He feels every word he sings and you will too.
@tombanaski32513 ай бұрын
Seger was equally perfect in concert--sounded every bit as great as his recordings, all without autotune and no lip synching. At 61 he was still running up and down the stage during his performances....absolutely two of the best concerts I ever got to see.

Yes sir, and as you probably know, many of those live performances ended up on the albums.

100, Having an eidetic memory; I hate covers and live performances because it doesn't match the time signature, Bob Seager almost never had that problem, very few artists can keep Rythm with No metronome. lol

Bob Seger was the Simone Biles of the music scene in his day. His support of the Michigan auto industry (he was born in Detroit) was how Chevrolet was able to use this song in their ads. He also gave a large chunk of the money he was paid to the auto workers fund. Solid Michigan guy who never forgot his roots. Solid man, solid music, period.
@user-pq9zc3uc7m3 ай бұрын
Bob's voice and lyrics can paint a picture in your mind like no other. Put all of his songs on little pieces of paper, put them in a hat, pull one out, it's a hit. "Where did the time go?" Brother, with your b-day coming up, you are a week younger than my youngest. I can't tell you where the time went.

You are correct Chevy trucks used the Like a Rock in their commericals for many years. When Chevy first approached Bob about using his song in their ads he said no. However After speaking to a plant worker for GM, Seger had a change of heart as he was reminded of his own time working for the car company. He relented and "Like a Rock" became the official anthem of Chevy trucks from 1991 to 2014. Bob was from the Detroit area, and always wanted to do what he could to suport the local workers. Bob has a very deep and full catalouge of songs to explore. One of the best singer songwriters of his or any other generation. THe best thing you can say about any singer/songwriter. There is not such thing as a bad Bob Seger Song. Hollywood Nights, Her Strut, The Famous Final Scene, Feel like a Number, and Beautiful Loser are some that I think you might connect with.

Seger didn't get paid much for the commercial. He did it because he was from Detroit and the American car industry, mostly from Motor City, was hurting. His backup band is called the Silver Bullet Band, and he turned down a lotmore money from Coor's Light (the "Silver Bullet") because he didn't want to "sell out..."

I think a lot of rap/hip hop fans are not aware of how deep many of the classic rock lyrics are. Yeah, it wasn't just screaming guitars; they had stories to tell back in the day too. Many of the reactors are too young to really feel this song. Glad you felt this one.

Bob Seger represents the heart and soul of Detroit, that's why this song was chosen for a Chevy truck commercial. Just like Chrysler used Eminem's Lose Yourself. Turn The Page, Shakedown, Come To Poppa, Her Strut, Old Time Rock And Roll, Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, the list of Seger classics goes on...

44? damn kid, your still in your prime. Wait until you're 75 and everything hurts and if it doesn't hurt, it doesn't work. Then, THEN you'll see what reminiscing is all about. I think back to the people in my life that are long gone, car's I've owned and wish I still had. Times I was at parties, bon fires and back seats. Life has a way of getting behind you. My grand dad told me something years ago when I was 18 and on my way to basic, and I didn't know what he meant, he told me, "Too soon you're old, too late you're smart". I know now exactly what he meant. I really have no regrets, just a few but, if you have no regrets, you missed out on a lot of living.
